Classics like this will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN by those who TRULY R ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL THING WE CALL HIPHOP. DJ.HevC #VOAHL Always Vibrate On A Higher Level
Not jsut this song, James Brown's entire concept. Labels didn't want to sign him because he made the groove the main thing, rather than a clever harmony and catchy lyrics. Probably the single most influential musician in all of American music.
You don't know what you're talking about. The first hip hop beat was disco. So please STOP spreading lies. They didn't start sampling JB till the mid 80's. Again YOU DON'T KNOW WTF YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!
Clyde Stubblefield will always be the Funky Drummer! His rhythm pattern on James Brown's "Funky Drummer" is among the world's most sampled musical segments. It has been used for decades by hip-hop groups and rappers such as Public Enemy, Run-DMC, N.W.A, Raekwon, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys and Prince, and has also been used in other genres. Though the sole creator of his patterns, Stubblefield was not credited for the use of the samples. He was featured in the 2009 PBS documentary, Copyright Criminals, which addressed the creative and legal aspects of sampling in the music industry.
This is my favorite drum beat of all time! Thanks for posting it in the endless loop. As a bass player I'll sometimes just play along to the funky beat for hours. So good
You could actually start playing this just as you are about to clock in for work at your job and it would still be playing when you clock out. Now that's nutzz.
Holy crap, I totally forgot about the speed change tool. Mind blown. .75 speed is *perfect* to me, like a totally laid-back FD. Now I have to go listen to the original that way.
That’s some funky shit right there. Been plugged into my headphones for the last four days and smashed this beat out. Great to add your own flare and style too. Lots of room to move. I fucking love drumming. It’s more than half of who I am.
George Michael used this very drum track for one of his greatest underestimated songs. It was called waiting for that day from the 1990 album listen without prejudice. There’s actual footage of him mixing the track and explaining his idea of mixing a black funky drum track with some very folky sounding acoustic guitar chords with a very procal hharlom sounding keyboards between them basically he explained that this drum track sample was so overused in late 1989 and most of 1990s chart hits in the uk. He basically showed how different genres of music together was nothing but a good thing after he’d come under attack by various artists for an award he’d got for his faith album in America the award usually went to black artists. He’d basically cleaned up every award at the 1989 Grammys. He understood that some racial bias from industry insiders predominantly white;might have tipped the win his way. He went on to say “ although I was very happy to win that award I didn’t ask for it. While everyone was banging on about why Bobby brown among other artists it told me a lot of black people bought that album too and while on the faith world tour my audience was diverse in fact all I saw was an audience of mixed races of people having a good time all together, Is that really so bad a thing?” It was also discovered that the guitar chords sounded not a million miles from a Rolling Stones song called you can’t always get what you want the chords George used were the same but in reverse to the stones track. Once this was noticed George did the right thing by sending a copy to jagger/richards to ask permission to use the vocal line from the stones version with writing credits added to George’s song the stones give their blessing and you can hear George singing you can’t always get what you want on the end of waiting for that day. George got to prove his point adding I love music ALL music soul R+B ( when it was good! That is my point todays artists just don’t have a fraction the legends had. Sorry it’s true) along with pop rock even some metal but this drum track is the most over used drum track ever by now 33 years after George Michael pointed out that back then in 1990 it was on the bottom of countless records then it’s gotta be more than ten fold more as it’s still being used today it’s a drum track I can spot a mile off. I can understand why it’s still used it’s fkin brilliant but most people using this sample today probably can’t fathom that originally some cool funky dude drumming for James brown recorded this live a man with such cool rhythm gave hundreds of songs and us this oh too cool track pity thy guy didn’t make millions of his groove and feel it’s criminal he should have.
Getting back my drumming skills to this jam. Thanks! They can sample it for infinite new tunes, but nothing beats just learnin to PLAY that thing! THEN use your skills to take it out into another universe... 🤘
James Brown is the most sampled artist of all time and his drummer if not the all time sampled Funky drummer beat it's top three and it's been sampled since 1985
I was in a bad mood until I clicked on this! Now I'm in a very good place in my mind! Thanks for sharing! This that good shit! We are so creative! If I didn't know any better, I'd be like JDilla made this beat! I bet JB and JD is making music in heaven. One things for sure, is that heaven is full of good people who love to make good music!
Play this while working out, driving long or short distances, backyard BBQ, on cruise decks, Caribbean Beach sides. It motivates, energies, soothes you. And soon as you turn it off it's like a heart stop. ❤this is so crazy.
