Ken Shamrock would be the last guy I would wanna shoot with.. just saying.. I know Scott Steiner was an Amateur Wrestler but Scott started to lose his athleticism when he became too buff..
Weird that after Katao outright said it in like 1991, “the killing of Kayfabe” was a hug between rivals at a house show that they easily could have pulled off as a “sign of respect” between top competitors
I never understood that. Vince blatantly broke kayfabe at the '97 Survivor Series and then in his interview with Jim Ross on Raw, (which could have easily been explained away as a mistake on the part of the referee, instead of openly acknowledging that the match was predetermined all along) but to Vince, somehow the "Curtain Call" seemed like the end of the world at that time.
@@Michiganfan105 I can give you a few more breaking of kayfade moments.. Eddie Mansfield broke kayfade on national TV as well when he did that 20/20 interview.. Or When Bruiser Brody broke kayfade against Lex Luger by not selling Luger's offense.. That's why it makes me mad when Old Heads/Boomers blame Millennials and Gen Z for the death of kayfade.. They even blame the internet for it knowing damn well the internet didn't break no damn kayfade.. In the 1940s Did another promoter get mad at the NWA cause they didn't want to put the belt on any of his wrestlers so he went to the New York Times and exposed it all breaking kayfade as well?? Edited: Correcting a few errors
He blamed Flair for a bad match they had that was supposed to move Steiner up the card. Same thing happened in WWF in the early 90s when Bruce Prichard wanted Steiner to win the belt at Wrestlemania 9, but backstage politics put an end to that plan.
Samoa Joe shoots on old guys like Hall in 2007 and Nash sticks up for Hall. In 1997 you have Nash and Waltman shooting on old guys like Flair and Piper. I love when history repeats itself
I'm gonna be completely honest: when I first saw the Steiner shoot on Flair, I thought it was all scripted, because it felt like the usual testosterone-filled Steiner promo that I love to see. Boy was I wrong lol
@@therealityofitall4819 right... Scott "the pea size brain" Steiner is so unpredictable that no one ever thought he would be a hall of famer. Picture this: The Undertaker... and Steiner 🤯
@@DiogoSantos-sr7bz I mean, Steiner put in a ton of work and effort to be in the business. And despite his questionable skills on the mic, everyone at least will remember a promo he does. Can't say the same for Nikki "I WISH YOU DIED IN THE WOMB" Bella and Kid Rock lmao
Just imagining an argument between Hulk Hogan and Vince Russo. Between all the "bro"s and "bruther"s, you'd almost swear they actually had two parents in common. Edit: 10:38 basically says the word "irony" without actually saying it.
@@Carpenter_King86 it shocks me that some people still believe that wasn't a shoot. The way russo backs into a corner when piper realize he's in the ring seemed like genuine fear. His smile was insecure as fuck
The one shoot missing is Steve Austin in ECW talking for about 6 minutes on getting fired by Eric Bischoff via fax and then talking how he was held back for so long. It was in black and white and probably the exact moment he became the character of Stone Cold even though he was in ECW at the time. Absolutely brilliant.
Yeah, Heyman knew ECW was a short stop for him, and Austin wanted to hone his mic skills. Heyman let him, knowing he'd work with him again in the future.
9:55 little correction: they didn't just suspend him for two weeks with pay. They suspended him for two weeks with pay from Thunder. Which is even more pathetic, considering what Thunder was in 2000.
Great to see Doug Gilbert on this list. His shoot promo with Eddie Gilbert in W*ING in which they denounced the company remains one of my favourite WTF moments in wrestling history.
Been wondering. Doug Gilbert from The WWWF and Doug Gilbert from USWA Memphis vs. Dutch Mantell from NWA Amarillo and Dutch Mantell from CWA Memphis. Who wins and why?🤔🎤🎼🎸🤼♂️B.W.
Goldberg said, he could kick Scott Steiner's ass in real life. Vince Russo said to Goldberg to tell that to Scott Steiner's face. Goldberg did not do it. One guy for sure Goldberg was afraid of was Tank Abbott. Tank did ask Goldberg for an actual legit MMA of match, but Goldberg refused. Even after Tank publicly stated, that Goldberg would not last one minute, but he thought Goldberg was a real nice guy.
A lot of fans don't realize this but Koji Kitao passed away not too long ago. Regarding the Shane Douglas promo from ECW, the best part of that was seeing Dennis Corraluzzo at ringside with a "what the fuck just happened?" look on his face while someone at ringside hands Douglas the ECW belt. A classic moment.
After that shoot promo Samoa Joe did, he got buried in TNA and make to look foolish. Remember when he got kidnapped by ninjas and then he just reappears one week without any sort of explanation?
True that! I was there that night and saw some great talent appearing in the tournament, including newcomers Matt Bourne (as Doink the Clown), Dean Melenko and Chris Benoit. The shoot promo was a real surprise, but the fans were behind Shane all the way. Good times. 😎
It‘s really interesting how many american wrestlers looked like jobbers at home while being stars and champions in Japan…Stan Hansen, Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, Scott Norton, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Lance Archer, Matt Bloom, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson, Tomko, John Laurinitis…
It's hilarious that Steiner ripped Flair for aping Buddy Rogers when you consider the fact that his Big Poppa Pump gimmick was pretty much a bad imitation of Superstar Billy Graham.
Ric Flair took a creative page from both Buddy Rogers and Jackie Fargo, the latter of by which he found his version of "The Fargo Strut." Buddy Rogers paid a quick visit to NWA Florida in 1979 and wrestled among others the young Tenyru. Then he went to The Carolinas in JCP for his legendary "Battle of The Nature Boys" with Ric Flair.🤔🎤🤼♂️B.W.
Paul couldn't pay his employees. Where's this "Poaching talent" have validity? When WWF/E got ECW stars: They acquired talent. When WCW got ECW talent: They poached stars. Fucking pay your employees and treat them well, they'll stick around!
Adam has quickly become my favorite internet wrestling personality. Highly enjoyed watching night 1 of Mania just watching him then I did actually watching night 2 with him in background. P.S. we need more 2k22 live streams
Ric Flair ripped off Buddy Rogers and Rogers ripped off Gorgeous George. It's wrestling. If ya can't rip off someone in wrestling, where can ya rip off?
Why would Jerry Lawler get in a bind with Jackie Fargo about The Crown and the Title "King of Wrestling" when the soon to be late great Bobby Shane gave him both in Florida in 1973? And for awhile Harley Race was Booked in The WWF as "The King."🤔🎤🤴🤼♂️B.W.
Not very accurate on the Doug Gilbert part of this. He still wrestles in Memphis and was man enough to apologize for involving Lawler because he really wasn't involved in what upset him
I remember Vince Russo shooting on Hogan and to be honest I liked it back then because i knew about his creative clause. Hogan having to constantly be champ was killing WCW and it had got old by late 1998 but Hogan didn't care.
It wasn’t he was always the champ. It kind of was. Hogan would win every fued and always win the big ppv match. You could bet on him to win every time and never lose money.
The Piper shoot promo on TNA was amazing. He said what everyone wanted to say but had no platform to say it. People say CM Punk is the Voice of The Voiceless? Nah man, Piper was the original and in my mind, the best. Piper was never one to bs anything so when he says it was from the heart, you know damn well it was, and you can also sympathize with him there. Being in the same company as the guy who is responsible for putting Owen Hart up in the rafters with no proper safety checks all to revive a dumb gimmick that he though the marks would find funny BRO. You have to let that man say his peace. Not to mention, Piper apologized to Russo for the on TV rant later on his podcast when he invited Vince Russo on to talk out their issues, which Piper was very respectful about. He always was a class act man, Rest in Peace Roddy
You're not surprised TNN dropped ECW? That was the point! They didn't advertise or promote ECW in any way whatsoever, so they weren't reaching new people, so ECW wanted out.
I took "American" to mean North American or white man. In a U.S. versus Canada aspect it makes sense to distinguish he's Canadian but in an overseas context in Japan, they aren't going to care.
„It‘s called a promo. If you wanna go big, you‘ll need to learn it.“ This sentence alone killed Roman Reigns and his credibility for good and the Heel Turn and the constant title reign couldn’t save both. He‘s a joke and John Cena was absolutely right.
Dude, Scott Steiner had shots for everyone back in the day.... You'd hear "NO EVERYBODY KNOWS..." and that boy was shooting from the hip after that lol
Exactly. I believe Montreal was a work, so who knows. Lol. If anybody thinks this is a genuine question. A work is staged ie everything you see normally that is pre rehearsed/signed off and a shoot is really going off script.
@@alexmcintosh3397 Yes, I see 👀 what you mean by that because it can be really hard to tell if they mean what they say or if they are reading a script 😉 🤔 😄
How is Shawn not on this list.. come on! The 18 minute rant he pulled on Bret when Bret was in South Africa was horrible. Obviously he duc the promo when Bret was out if the country but still it should be on this list. Even sunny days should be on this list
Yo i pay for youtube premium because i dont want to watch commercials just to have to watch the first 3 minutes of these videos being a commercial hahahaha. Good play to these companies.
Scott Steiner promo's from back then especially when he ripped on Ric Flair, are legendary. I know he definitely angered some people backstage, namely the Horsemen, but damn was he funny back in the day.
You’ll never find a bigger Kevin Nash fan than Kevin Nash. My goodness he was BORING in the ring. I always thought prime Hall/Razor was the real star, may he rest in peace 🙏 Nash was just big. Did I mention his decision (or whoever’s decision it was) to have Goldberg lose like THAT was why me and my entire high school football and basketball locker rooms stopped watching WCW in favor of WWE? True story. We used to go to both Nitro and Raw every time they’d come to central Texas (and between Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas - that was a LOT). Goldberg’s pop is still the loudest I’ve ever heard as I literally saved up for a ticket to Atlanta to watch him beat Hulk. Louder than any pop any WWF/WWE star has ever gotten. And I’ve been to probably 40-50 live wrestling events dating back to the 1980’s - so that includes prime Hulk Hogan
I call B.S on the inability to deal with Steiner... They simply had to bring a few pounds of Anabolics and attach it to a string and stick than Steiner would be the new Dancing bear of WCW
