Yep I have a "wish list" on Amazon - and sometimes items live in there for months. It was fun shopping, but when it comes down to do I really need it? In the end I only selectively buy a couple things once in a while that I still think I can't live without.

I have learned to be frugal. I was terrible with money all of my life. Now I am crazy about saving money. I really have cut back sooo many expenses and groceries. Our house is paid off. Taxes and insurance are still a cost. I ❤ finding ways to save. Our property taxes are now frozen because we proved we were low income for three years. We also get a veteran discount of 2,000 dollars off the value. So I prepay the monthly cost of 1/2th the taxes so I am never surprised by a tax bill. (Thank God). That happened to me once. It will never happen again. I shopped around for low house and car insurance. Soooo our housing cost is $250.00 a month. Fixed! No rent payment for us!

Love these tips!! One of the most important to me is being frugal, and still finding more and more ways to do so. That helped me stash as much money as possible into my savings account and to have no bills. The second one that saved me was, for the first eleven years I was totally on my own, to have one 40-45 hour per week job along with two side hustles. I did everything from cleaning homes, working for the Health Dept. as a home caregiver, having an Etsy shop for 5 years, doing laundry for residents at the long term care facility I worked at, and selling crafts and sewing for people. I was blessed to be able to fine all of those jobs!! Thank you Sara for more great advice!

@saraconklinfrozenpennies Год назад
Ah...the side hustle is a great way to bring in extra income. However, we must remember to find joy and not let being frugal get in the way of that. Life is short. Save for fun! Thank you for watching!

I'm a write it down girl with a calculator. I write down how much I have and a list of bills that need paying. Rent is PRIORITY, then utilities. Once that is paid, then weekly and saving. AFTER that what is left over. Its extra like a safety net. I DONT NEED it but its peace of mind if something unexpected comes up and I call it Spare money. If it doesn't get used that month, then it goes in to saving. I think physically writing it down and seeing what u actually have every month helps, so u know what you actually have and where it needs to go.

@@saraconklinfrozenpennies Single parent for 15 years and having to unlearn 20 years of bad money advice from my parents. I'm slightly envious of you when you say the women in your family are frugal. My mum was complete opposite and got into lots of debt and gave me bad habits that I've had to unlearn. But being frugal I'm debt free and in credit with my bills. I work hard to make sure my kids are good with money and saving..

Thanks for the shout out about my tiny living story!!! One thing most don't know is that you can have a tiny house or RV and no tow vehicle. In other words, you got a vehicle, but it's not strong enough to move your tiny house or RV around. You can pay someone to haul your rig when you need to move if it's not that often. There are alot of people in my campground who don't have tow vehicles, but the campground owner has been known to drive 5 hrs one way to move someone's rig for cash. So don't let rv or tiny house living to scare you into getting a truck, if you're not ready or don't have the money. My car is 6 yrs old, paid off and small. So it can't tow anything. I had it delivered to my campground by the builder....we built the cost of a 4 hr drive for delivery into the loan before I went to the bank.

@TonicBlade
@TonicBlade Год назад
I think the amount depends on what age you take SS. You might be getting less if you got SS earlier than 65. How many years in the workforce might be a factor too. I think they look back on the past 10 years

There are a lot of factors. I know someone who worked all their life and made decent money. They retired at 62 and get $2300. It also depends on your spouce as well. $900 a month is TERRIBLE! I imagine its a struggle for her. I hope she has help.

I love Watching your videos. We have a different lifestyle and system in French (e.g health insurance) but I really appreciate your tips . They can be applied for so many things. I’ve started my frugal journey 3 years ago it’s so satisfying to see that motivation and discipline can bring you so far :) . I have changed my mindset and now I just appreciate simple thing instead of window shopping I appreciate what I have and I feel blessed I’m also lucky that my parents always teached me how to cook to clean to be independent . The best way to feel richer also is to help your beloved one to start new hobbies (like sewing, walking in the nature listening to birds songs ) so many hobbies can be free :) being grateful is also importent in this journey “Pardon my French “🎉

I believe to save first then pay my bills last is what works for me.... And I don't celebrate any holidays so I save much more if I did. And did Jesus say for us to remember his birthday? You won't find Christmas in the Bible or any other holiday....so why celebrate them?? There's no reaason....And if you have kids do you lie to them when it comes to those holidays? I don't lie to mines...😊😊😊
