Poland did not declare independence from Russia. In 1918, Poland regained independence after 123 years of captivity. And it was in German, Austrian and Russian captivity. Poland is a country with a 1000-year history. The mentioned period is the restoration of Poland to the world map. Regaining independence and freedom again. As for Auschwitz, it was a camp for murdering Poles. Only towards the end of the camps' existence did they start murdering Jews in the Brzezinka camp. Poland has a lot of castles and manors, because we have been a republic only for the last few centuries. For most of the time we were a kingdom.

9:30 not only Jews. German plan was to destroy and exterminate also almost ~95% people of slavic nations. Their plan was to make room for German settlers (by exterminating Poles, Polish Jews, Balts, etc.) and settling them (German settlers) in a place that would then be created. The small remnant of poles that would then remain alive would serve as cheap slave labor. Thank God that this did not happen and we can live in a free country.

Pollack and Polak are as much the same word as English "fart" and Polish "fart" are ( meaning "passing gasses" and "luck" respectively) - not at all. Saying "it's okay when..." or "it means something else in different place" is just a very convoluted and confusing way of stating the obvious - they are two different words from two different languages. It's obvious they mean something else in different places, duh. One is English derogatory ethnonym for Poles, the other is Polish proper ethnonym for Pole.
@leno_o17
@leno_o17 День назад
One thing this video forgets to mention is that the Holocaust targeted not only Jews. Slavic people were also considered a lower race, just one step above Jews. Polish people, in particular, were supposed to be exterminated by 80%, with the rest turned into slave labor for the Germans (as personally written by Hitler). Auschwitz was originally built for Poles, and for the first few years, Polish people constituted the vast majority of prisoners there before Jews started being brought in. Maybe it's a bit of selective, but if you're interested in some Polish war stories, you should definitely check out the Sabaton history videos for the songs that talk about Poland: - "Inmate 4859" - about a Polish soldier who voluntarily went to Auschwitz to infiltrate it from the inside. - "Uprising" - about the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, the biggest resistance effort against Nazi Germany in WWII and one of the most important events in recent Polish history. - "40:1" - Battle of Wizna - about one of the battles during the Nazi invasion in 1939. Some international propaganda has painted Poland as surrendering without a fight, which was completely untrue. This battle is a pretty symbolic counterpoint to that false narrative.

If you want to know more about that entire "Pollack" thing here is a video that will explain it and you will be surprised that at some point Polish and Black people were oppressed the same way in the US (this includes things like killings by the KuKluxKlan). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jd0vKaIpM6A.html Knowing this and the fact that Kościuszko (the architect of West Point and other forts) friend to Jefferson, a Polish national american independence war hero who left Jefferson all his money he earned during the war to free and give an education to the Black people (sadly the money was never used by Jefferson to do that), it makes it especially sad that during the BLM protests, some of the protesters destroyed a Kościuszko monument, historically the greatest ally Black people had in the US.

Mate,, that video was full of errors, misunderstandings ans straight out lies. If you want to see few proper videos about Poland, check out guy called Steve Marsh. He does proper travel videos, and although he's Scottish, partner is Polish, and he's done at least a few videos about Poland, including Malbork castle. In terms of history, you may check Mark Feltons Productions channel. He does WWII videos mostly, and again, there's at least a few on his channel about Polish soldiers in WWII. Hiw far are you from Turku airport? Some dirt cheap flights to Poland from there. I used to be great basketball fan back in the days, when I still lived in Poland. Astoria Bydgoszcz was my club. Also, used to be bball referee as well.

Hey there! Thank you for your desire to learn more about world, and in this case Poland! On the note of our history, i would strongly recommend you to watch some of "Sabaton History" channel. Uprising, 40:1, Inmate 4859 (This one is special. Like, very special, the hero of the song was Polish soldier who have gone to Auschwitz on his own will and done some crazy things.) Those are songs about Poland by, you guess it, Sabaton, but their History channel brings alot of information about events of those songs. I've filled up reaction request forms with links.

8:00 As for the Auschwitz concentration camp, it is currently in Polish. However, in the years 1940 - 1945, when the Germans murdered people there, it was administratively located on the territory of the General Government. This is how the Germans called the Polish land they had seized. In those years, Poland did not exist as a state because it was torn between Nazi Germany and Stalin's Russia according to the provisions of the Molotov-Ribentrop Pact.

Polish phonetics is regular, english is not. In polish phonetics, if you learn a pattern, you will be able read aloud any text perfectly, even if you don't know the vocabulary. As for english, it is not possible to learn a pattern, because there is no regularity in it, i.e. there is no pattern. Polish is a phonetic language, so contrary to appearances it is very easy to learn to pronounce perfectly and write. What do I mean ? So in polish, each letter always means one same sound. In english you can pronounce one letter in several ways. For example the letter "e". In english you can pronounce it in many ways depending on a word. For example "bEd" and "English". You have there one same letter "e" but you pronounce it differently. But in polish it will always sound in one same way such as "e" in english "bed" and it never changes ! This pattern applies to all Polish sounds and letters - one letter, one sound. What's more, polish "sz" is the same as english "sh". And polish "cz" as english "ch". We have also also "rz" and "ż ", they both represent one same sound, like J" in french name "Jean". PS Maybe polish phonetics is easy if you know the pattern but the grammar is pain in the ass because we decline not only verbs but also nouns. That's why english is easy for us. In english you don't have to decline nouns, but only verbs. PS2 Thank you for making these videos. You are so cute. :D

Not 250 thousand castles, but "just" 250. There are lots of castles in almost every European country. One has more than others, but there are still a lot around. Some are even still lived in by the family that originally had it built. Not sure that's the case in Poland though. I guess (but don't know) the communist past of the country made an end to that, if it didn't end earlier.

I would like to apologize to you. Once, when writing a comment to you in English, I translated a Polish world too literally into English. When telling you about Andre Traveler, I wrote that Andre traveler visits the BLACKEST Polish villages. I used the word "black" because in Polish we can use the term "black" like you use in English "dark". By saying BLACKEST Polish villages I meant the places in the middle of nowhere, at the end of the world. Because it is usually so dark there, like if you went there at night, you would see nothing. After a while I got scared that it could have offended you. And I consider people with skin color like yours as the most beautiful in the world. For me, there is nothing more beautiful than dark/black skin tone! And a white blond says that! I would like emphasize that for me black skin color is sacred ! PS in Polish we can also describe such places at the end of the world in a very funny way. If I were to translate it very literally into English, I would write "where dogs bark with their asses". You can understand it like they are such a shitholes that it goes beyond the level of rationality/human reason and in some ironic way you may be able see miracles there or... just completely nothing. :D
