Do you like going upside down on a roller coaster? What about TEN TIMES??? Check out this video from the "10 Inversion Roller Coaster" at Chimelong Paradise in China!
Despite Colossus looking very worn down and rough compared to this version of Intamin's 10-loop model, something Colossus does beat this version at is the landscaping. This is simply over a grass and concrete flat surface, whereas Colossus goes under tunnels, through vegetation and over water from the lake and water pool under the cobra roll inversions.
When people say, "This looks just like..." or "This is a rip-off of..." it's just clear confirmation to me that they're newbies to the coaster world. Anyone with education on the topic would never utter those words.
"This is a copy of Colossus at Thorpe Park!" It's made by the same company, and the park decided to buy the same model. In the amusement park industry, nobody copies anyone.
Toby Stringer Toby Stringer No The manufacturer who made colossus made it for the world. Thorpe park did not make colossus. They bought it as a model. Rollercoaster models are made for all parks around the world. Think of them as the consumer products of the coaster industry
+southsidesman how self centred to say something you don't like is wrong. people are entitled to like different things and dangerous or not it's their choice to do so. roller coaster is very different from the extreme sports u mentioned it is actually very safe and the chance of being injured is actually 1 in 24 million.
+southsidesman lol okay I'm sorry for saying that. whatever you think people are still gonna do that because it's fun and exciting for them. (ps I'm a huge fan of roller coasters but not extreme sports)
+southsidesman and I didn't say what you said was wrong. my point is your opinion won't change anything if they like it they're still gonna be doing it. As long as it's not against the law I don't see anything wrong for people to do what they like.
+southsidesman As a matter of fact, I'm a roller coaster enthusiast, and if you say something's wrong with me being one, you're very entitled to that opinion, but I hope you know that roller coasters aren't as dangerous as you might think.
southsidesman No no, you're entitled to your opinion 100%, I'm just saying that people love the danger of roller coasters, for example TPR. Again, what you think is fine.
I've been on this many times. Not this exact ride, but the identical one in Thorpe Park in England that originally set a record for most inversions. Awesome roller coaster
This looks like Colossus 😍 I know people have said it but I got excited as it's my favourite rollercoaster!!!!! I will say that this one looks less bumpy somehow and much more colourful. I love seeing similar coasters at different parks for some reason. Keep up the good work.
For all the people who live in or near the UK and still don't know, instead of travelling to China for a rollercoaster, there is one exactly the same called "Colossus" at Thorpe Park, just outside of London...
I think i prefer colossus tbh. Not because of the coaster itself but how it interacts with paths and the area around it while this one is settled on a flat grass plain. Edit: I also prefer the colour scheme of Colossus
Apparently this is an exact replica of Colossus at Thorpe Park. I wonder if perhaps they've got an exact replica of Ollie's phone somewhere along the ride.
I had never been on a roller coster with a loop and the first one I went on with a loop was a smiler which has the most loops in the world with 14 loops, at the start I was scared n at the end the ride name livedup to itself. I was smiling like a maniac and wanted to go on it again!!!!!!
I absolutely hate these heartline rolls at the end, they're extremely unconfortable and not even remotely fun, they're just there to increase the number of inversions...
this is fantastic if you put the light out of the room and watch it from the time that the person with the video is recording whilst sitting on the rollercoaster, you actually feel that you are on it as well .....great
so it seems that roller coasters around the world can be pretty much copied and pasted anywhere. this exact same coaster layout is in thorpe park in the uk, and it's under the name collossus.
That's because they are both made by the same manufacturer, Intamin. Parks sometimes request "copies" of other rides and roller coasters because its much cheaper to get a copy than to start from scratch and make an original ride.
Right when the last two inversions hit I almost felt nauseous through the screen haha. Really cool design. Looked really fun up until the never ending barrel roll I got kinda dizzy haha Still looks really fun!
These coaster manufacturers need more ideas. I've been on more that 30 coasters and have yet to find one that I got an actual thrill out of, some may have some neat novelty points but the thrill factor just isn't there! They play it too safe or the theme parks are broke-ass mofos that can't put in money to real coasters :( Instead they overmarket stuff and prolly blow the rest on blackjack n hookers
Oh my god if I see another comment like this, I am going to loose it. This is a coaster model. Thorpe park bought this model, and then this China park also bought the same model. There was no “Copying”. The manufacturer made that model so any park in the world could buy it
ITS THE AULTRA TWISTER IT WAS CALLED THAT BECAUSE YOU TWIST ON YOUR SIDES YOU GO UP THEN DOWNTHROUGH A TWISTERTHEN YOU GO UP AND DOWN THROUGH A TWISTER AGAIN AND SOMETIMES BACKWARDS .
Guys, this Roller Coaster design and build by a company by Intamin, of course it is identical to the one in Thorpe park, because it is the same production.. only 3 in the world.. google this --> "10 inversion coaster"
maybe it's because it was raining or having to put up with that irritating and loud laughing tune blaring in my ears the entire wait that made me hate it. but still, colossus just seemed the more interesting ride to me. its a matter of opinion really
yes but collosus was made in 2002. chances are it was way more comfortable back then. but they really should replace the trains into altair trains with lapbars as well as a repaint.
They don't do it as much as they used to, but Chinese parks will often just use a ride model as the ride's name (e.g. Dive Coaster, Flying Wing Coaster, Mega Lite).
That cobra roll reminded me of Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens in Virginia, before they removed it. I never rode Drachen Fire but heard a lot of people complained of whiplash. Oh, get off it, I doubt Drachen Fire caused whiplash, though I never rode it, but if you can't handle a rough coaster sometimes, then stay at home! LOL =)
I'm probably going to Thorpe Park in 2019 for a planned summer trip to Europe and hitting up the UK first for Chessington World of Adventures, Thorpe Park and Alton Towers before I head to Sweden for Grona Lund, Kolmarden and Liseberg. :)
I went on it last week and almost died Bc there was a head bang every nanosecond Mainly for people height 158cm below cos there head will not be high above the safety bar
Roller coasters are sold by manufacturers to parks. The manufacturer of colossus, intamin, sold the design for colossus to multiple parks. Thorpe park just happened to be the first to buy their "multi inversion: 10 inversion rev. a" design. Oh, and intamin later improved the design, and sold one of the new designs to flamingo land. It will open this year.
