The Hawks got lucky with all of the Cyclone turnovers, (some credit to the D, not just luck). Scored 20 off of them, won by 10. Purdy didn’t start out looking sharp - floated a couple early - and his receivers were dropping catchable tosses. He was only responsible for one INT, the long one, and he says the ball slipped a little in his hand. Petras did throw a couple of beautiful strikes. ISU had more passing and rushing yards, and a higher completion percentage. The o-line was giving the qbs time. Tory Taylor’s punts were like an unfair advantage. Maybe the temperature and the black jerseys had a role in making the Cyclones let up with lots of time left. They had to wear color, (not white), so the red wouldn’t have been much cooler. I think the black was just to troll Iowa a bit. Taking Purdy out to give Deckers a try was okay, but Campbell also pulled a fired up Breece Hall, and other important starters. Championship teams keep going when down by 17 with 12 minutes left. ISU’s game plan seemed designed to play Iowa’s style of football - not smart. I think they should’ve gone tempo, not giving Iowa’s great defense time to get settled for each play. Some BIG team may show it works. I hope both teams finish with great seasons!

If I were a Cyclone fan, (and I'm not), I'd be really upset about two things. One, during the best stretch of football our history, we're still dominated by big brother Iowa. And two, those shitty black and white uniforms. Everyone, the fans, the cheerleaders, the TV promos, were all red and yellow. Everyone except the one who mattered most: The team. Good luck with that.

Question for any hawkeye fan. I'm driving to Chicago from Buffalo for the Chicago marathon Columbus Day weekend. Wanted to check out a college game around the area while in town. Illinois vs Wisconsin didn't really excited me but I saw Iowa vs Penn State is that weekend and it's only a 3 hour drive. Is it worth going to a Hawkeye game? What are the fans like, stadium, area etc? It always looks like a great time on tv. Thanks!
