i feel like half the magic of kanye is that he doesn't make obvious choices. the unreleased versions of these songs would be forgotten more quickly because they are less challenging and weird, half of them are just the same song with trap drums. the coolest kanye songs are the ones that you don't love at first but they grow on you, they show you something new.
There’s a version of Chakras that is literally just the Selah beat but with ad libs and insanely aggressive verses from Ye. Would’ve been Ye’s hypest track ever honestly compared to Selah which is a shell of what Chakras could have been.
Can't believe Kanye scrapped some of these versions man. Kinda disappointed how he didn't release the Pusha T and Cudi ones but at least we got them leaked lol. Also I agree with Fade sounding much better in its original version. Kendricks verse on FSMH definitely should've stayed and its sad that it didnt. Great video!
Chakras is by far my favorite and most listened to leak of all time. I think it got overshadowed in the leak community from the amount of edits there are of Selah out there. Glad to see it on your no 1 spot
I was expecting Law Or Attraction > Use This Gospel, and Everything We Need Yandhi Version > JIK Version, those are some that I’d pick personally, but great video man :D
I’d say 99% of the released versions (basically all of the ones that aren’t due to label/sample issues) are artistically better in terms of working with the context/themes he was going for and meaning a lot more- but in terms of instant gratification and sounding maximalistic/more typically ‘great’ I could see that. From the perspective of an artist I think people forget how long artists spend conceptualising and editing it to get the closure and proper expression they want, especially for artists like Kanye, Kendrick, Frank and Tyler who are so aware of all of the parts of their music. ‘Constructive criticism’ of these types of artwork don’t really make sense when they’ve spent so much longer conceptualising and creating the work than the listener or critic has spent listening. Meaning almost all of the criticisms tend to be intentional features that add to the work (eg. The muddy mixing on Kanye’s ‘water’ adding to the engulfing baptism of the track, or the raw buzzing on Tyler’s ‘Wilshire’ representing a very stripped back and vulnerable moment in contrast to the extravagance of the rest of the album- two things criticised by Anthony Fantano which say more about his surface level approach to reviewing albums than the albums themselves). With artists who have demonstrated their ability to make music that would be considered ‘perfect’ in the past, I’ve found it’s generally better to give them the benefit of the doubt and work to understand their work instead of thinking they’re the problem
Aite so I Am A God's released is perfect in my opinion. The more minimal and hollow sound allowed the drums and bass to just hit so much harder. Yeezus always feels like it's about the shattering impact of the sounds themselves rather than a busier track.
Funnily enough, the "unreleased" version of fade was the initial version on the album. Kanye later added a bunch of stuff to that beginning part, which I agree is unfortunate
Imagine if Kanye did like a series where he released unreleased albums and tracks and different versions of the songs before they were released. That has a lot of potential

The Fade version you had was released it was the first version of the album which was released on his website as a digital copy. He then changed it and added more songs and changed parts of other songs.
A version I was trying to find from that first release is 30 hours, hella preferred that version over the final one and doesn’t hit the same but I can’t even find that first version anymore
Santeria was supposed to be just a sample but they didn't clear it in time, so they had to improvise the day before the album came out how to replace it. Honestly I can see why you would think that demo is better but the meaning of 070 Shake's hook actually matches the meaning of the song (death). There is also one version where it's both Kanye and Cudi (probably like a Kids See Ghosts ft.) try to make something and it doesn't go that well lol.
See this is why I have some remorse for the 2020 - 2021 quarantine WE GOT CONTENT LIKE THIS but now media in general is kinda stale for me, hope you have a good one brotha.
I like the released version of I Am A God better, the demo is good and all with its percussion, but I feel like the charm of I Am A God is its droning eerieness. It already paralyzes you with fear and gets the blood pumping. It also owes to the fact that Yeezus is one of Ye's most conceptual storyteller albums. The rawness of the demo and the fact that the notes don't linger and arent reverberated makes it bland.
Every time I see a video on this channel I learn something new about ye when I thought I knew everything I had no idea there was an original version of wash us in the blood, great work man keep it up (also nice after you intro :))
My personal Favs, that wheren't mentioned in the video, are Home (Homecoming OG) Bittersweet Poetry Sin City (Unmastered sounds so far) OH maaan, almost forgot the OG "Through The Wire", where he sounds disabled cuz he's rappin like days after the car crash. Thats a wild OG.
I couldnt agree more on number 1. I personally really like Selah a lot still too but, sheesh the unreleased version is so damn good!! Just a testament to how amazing Chakras truly is, imagine if it had a more complete mix...
i really liked jesus is king when it first dropped, but after that i discovered all the yandhi leaks and the yandhi songs that made it to jik just pale in comparison to the leaks. now jik is easily my least favorite kanye album

I don't mind how devil in a. new dress end as though it feels like an abrupt ending, with dead silence, once THE PIANO KEY is hit it makes it feel almost suspenseful
personally, the song that pisses me off the most is use this gospel. law of attraction is so much better and it’s honestly a shame that yandhi never came out.

I think one unreleased you missed was Use this Gospel unreleased version with Frank was better way better than the released. If im not wrong the unreleased is called "Law of Attraction"
I believe that in the OG version of santeria Kanye sampled a brazilian song called "É Preciso Dar Um Jeito, Meu Amigo" it isn't that clear but the flow is very lookalike, anyway, just a recommendation bc it's an awesome song
In my opinion I disagree with most of this list. Only can’t look in my eyes and chakra was my favorites. But I see selah and chakra like different songs. The melody and the verse were the only things that kept from chakras. But still a banger.
Okay, with Chakras, it's a yes and a no, I think the mix of the Chakras lyrics and the Selah instrumental is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, but the Chakras instrumental just doesn't hit as hard to me with the lyrics

Bound 1 hasn't technically leaked yet, and the version available is an instrumental remake with bound 2 verses (the original is rumored to have it's own). Still sounds fire in it's own way tho, bound 2 fits the album more.
Bound 1 sounds great but wouldn’t have fit in on yeezus imo, chakras is definitely sooo much better than selah, highly disagree with Santeria. Great video tho!
