The very first group of flowers you showed were not echinacea. The first one was but the other colors you showed were rudbeckia. They belong to the same plant family (Asteraceae) and have similar flowers, but they are not even closely related. You then mention rudbeckia later in the video as well.

@PlantDoHomeGarden 7 месяцев назад
Hi, thank you for catching that mistake and for the detailed explanation. it's important to distinguish between echinacea and rudbeckia, even though they're in the same family. apologies for the confusion in our video. we value your insights and will be more careful with our plant identifications in the future. thanks again for helping us improve! 🌺📚

North America? Could you be more specific by mentioning about Zone hardiness? I am in South Florida with Zone 10 B.
@PlantDoHomeGarden
@PlantDoHomeGarden 5 месяцев назад
Absolutely, zone hardiness is a key factor in choosing the right perennials. In South Florida's Zone 10B, consider long-blooming perennials like Salvia, Coreopsis, and African Iris which are well-suited to warmer climates. These will add vibrant colors and withstand your local conditions. We'll aim to include more zone-specific recommendations in our future content. Thanks for your question, and happy gardening in Zone 10B! 🌸☀️

What's good for san jose california, zone 9 pls? thanks
@PlantDoHomeGarden
@PlantDoHomeGarden 9 месяцев назад
San Jose, California, in USDA Zone 9, has a Mediterranean climate, which means mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers. There are several long-blooming perennials that thrive in this climate. Here are some that you can consider: 1. Salvia (Sage): Many species and varieties bloom profusely and are well-suited for San Jose. Examples include 'Hot Lips', Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii), and Pineapple Sage (Salvia elegans). 2. Coreopsis: These bright, cheerful flowers can bloom from late spring into the fall. 3. Gaillardia (Blanket Flower): These colorful daisy-like flowers can bloom from early summer to fall. 4. Echinacea (Coneflower): Available in a range of colors, they bloom from mid-summer to fall. 5. Gaura lindheimeri (Whirling Butterflies): It has delicate, butterfly-like flowers and can bloom from late spring through fall. 6. Lavender: Not only does it have a long blooming period, but it's also aromatic and drought-tolerant. 7. Penstemon: Many varieties are native to the western U.S. and thrive in California gardens. 8. Agastache (Anise Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint): These are loved by pollinators and bloom from early summer to the first frost. 9. Rudbeckia (Black-Eyed Susan): Offers bright, cheery yellow flowers from mid-summer to fall. 10. Yarrow (Achillea millefolium): It's drought-tolerant and blooms throughout the summer. 11. Kniphofia (Red Hot Poker): Produces tall spikes of brightly colored flowers, and there are varieties that can bloom from spring to fall. 12. Geranium (Cranesbill): There are several varieties, and some can bloom repeatedly throughout the season. Remember to choose varieties that are best suited for your specific conditions. Additionally, providing the plants with their preferred sun exposure, proper watering, and regular deadheading can further extend their blooming period. Check with local nurseries for specific cultivar recommendations, as they often have firsthand knowledge of what performs best in your area.

Echinacea does not grow to 4 ft.
@PlantDoHomeGarden
@PlantDoHomeGarden Год назад
I apologize for any confusion. The height of Echinacea (commonly known as Coneflower) can indeed vary depending on the specific species and growing conditions. While some varieties may reach up to 4 feet in height in ideal conditions, most commonly grown Echinacea purpurea varieties typically reach a height of 2 to 3 feet. It's always a good idea to check the specific growth habits of the variety you're growing for the most accurate information. Thank you for pointing this out, and I appreciate your patience and understanding.
