LAYERS! LAYERS! LAYERS! This has sped up my workflow by more than two times. Not all library Elements and lights will be in all your render perspectives, so instead of deleting and adding objects a hundred times, separate into layers wisely.
I need to start using Lumion Layers more! I only rely on them when the model is too heavy, but often times I forget 😅 I always talk about Layers in Photoshop, Illustrator and all programs, but for some reason, I skip them here. Thanks for sharing that, IMposure! If part 2 really comes to life, I'll make sure it is included then!
YESSS unfortunately I had to learn this the hard way, but when I got an example model and saw how much easier life is with layers I have never looked back haha
You should mention that the sample scenes that come with Lumion have a lot of great settings already- you just need to copy them and paste (and tweak) those settings into your model
Awsome video. Congratulations for the result! I vote for part 2. Can you make a tutorial with the creation process of this image? It really looks fantastic, I could never archive something like that with Lumion. Thanks!
Extra tip to help you : You see the problem with curved elemnts ,thats cause by the live sync .so its better to export the file as colada .UDE and when ever you need to update something jusy overwrite the file then in lumion press refresh and you good to go .
I'll have to try that out! If it really fixes the reflections with curved elements, it'll be fantastic! 🙌 Thanks a lot for the tip! I do like the live sync because I often start working on the rendering with the 3d model under construction still, but if it fixes, there's no discussion and I should change my workflow! 😄
Yeah i was working just like you with live sync and i noticed that any cuarved surface is taking a sharp edges .like theres was a circles turnd into polygons . So i started to experment with it and found out exporting is higher detail . Ps : if you still expermnt some issues with reflections just add PBR reflection map . Hope that help 🙏🏽
maybe try and make a elaborate guide on how each settings work in lumion.. would be very much helpful for beginners to understand each of the settings..
I Would love to Know what your guys average Time spent for medium Project (Office Building/Shop/Company..etc) on Lumion to make a full project Render not just few shorts talking like 20-30 angles. Thx
is there a setting Called Program*, its default is set to *Agressive TEwNice tutorialch is making that sNice tutorialtty static soft, change that one, once to
since day 1 - their engine had softbody animation abilities......yet 13 iterations later...you still cant import alembic ABC. files. which would make lumion so much more of a creative tool...but no
If just simply pasted without any adjustment and fixes, I agree with you! But if you compare properly placed 2d cutouts vs 3d people, I'm all the way cutouts 😅 For now at least... Maybe Lumion will implement more options when it comes to 3D people, adding blur would be fantastic, for instance! But hey, the options are there to be used! Totally understand the reasons why 3d might be better in some workflows
**possible a hot take?** - Unless you're working for a render house, post production in Photoshop is not really feasible due to time constraints. Most others in the AEC industry need to be as fast as possible. I commonly need to update 20+ renders an hour before a client presentation with some significant changes. Adding in post production would make the efficiency edge of using Lumion moot, might as well go back to SketchUp / Vray. That being said, I turn my people to face away from the camera 95% of the time, haha.
You're totally right, Kevin! I've worked some time on this specific niche, and the client often times doesn't care about the image after post-production. They are more than happy with the plain renders with 3d people. What I've done (and have seen other firms do it as well) is to do the first batch of images the best as possible with lots of identity and post-production, and then for changes and for sharing with contractors down the line just simple and plain renders that get the message across. And then share over social media and website those really nice first images. But maintain the speed on the daily tasks. Here on the channel, I talk to all types of niches, from people working directly in archviz firms to those that use rendering as just a bit on their architectural practices. So there's usually no right answer that will fit all audiences. I share my point of view and here in the comments is where we can enrich the discussion. So I appreciate your feedback! Thanks 😄
E boa sorte nessa nova jornada!
I may not be commenting but I have been your admirer since my architectural journey. I really love your minimal approach in everything you create, and I'm curious how you make your videos and if you could show us your process will be awesome!
For a project a few months ago i needed to create the terrain of a real world place in a 3d environment and after a lot of tries i used tangram heightmapper to render an image of that place with raster data and i uploaded it in lumion as terrain. It worked well but keep in mind that in lumion the work environment has precisely 4km^2 (2x2km) so you must crop the raster image to fit an are of approximately 2x2 km. Use some reference objects from google maps and measure the area. I hope what i just said makes sense =)
It's just general tips, but if it's part of your style going strong on edges and weathering, go for it! 😅 The effects and settings are there to be explored and used as desired
Thanks, mina chann! I've put together a kit with my current setup and the laptops I recommend. It really depends on your budget. Feel free to check it out: kit.co/learnupstairs The laptop I'm currently using is a ConcetpD 7 Ezel, I've created a couple of videos using them, here's one of them: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uBpplQMsl9I.html
The problem with Lumion is the viewport... It keeps trying animate things when you don't need and it makes a laggy experience in big projects. Also the previsualization isn't that good in the composition mode... You got to imagine how it will gonna be in the final results...
I also think so! Since this video was about tips I didn’t mention all the things I didn’t like. But the viewport has a lot of improvements to be made for sure! Idk why you can’t visualize the material (only the material) as a stand alone rendering, like Vray for example. The camera (viewport) is somewhat limited too. No custom aspect ratios and the preview that doesn’t match the final result. And it can get very laggy as you mentioned once the project gets more complex
Hi. Thanks for excellent tips. Is it possible to explane more about reflection. Especially window glass. Mine is looking not realistic, to much glass or so.
Can you help me with something please. I want to send you a link. Its 16000 x 9000 pixels in size. I would like you to show me how to color it in photoshop. You can use it on your channel to show everybody how you go about coloring it so that your effort is recorded and everybody gets to learn it. Can I send you the link. I want your permission for it. Thanks.
The one tNice tutorialng I would like to do (and tNice tutorials will completely convert ) is to copy and paste items from one project to another, it just doesn't
Have learn something from you video. Thank you sir. Please am interested in your Architecture Post-production in Photoshop course. Can i get i discount?
Hi, this is amazing, thanks a lot. could you do a video on how to do a realistic & sketchy exterior views in? Especially combining sketch, paint effects with realistic materials. thanks a lot.
in the daylight exterior photoshoot of architecture, people seem to be stoped moving because of high speed shutter Just a small tip from a photograph nerd
BRO can you make a tutorial about this house i really like how it looks please tutorial or maybe a workshop for this house with postproduccion in photoshop
