Check out the performance of this RadioWavz 10 meter HF double bazooka dipole.. I am very familiar with the bazooka design. This is a great option for portable and home deployment for technician class operators, as well as general and extras..

Almost forgot, besides my attack below :) cheers... Anyway, just a suggestion, about the horizontally polarized 10 meter double bazooka; consider trying 16.4 feet high or 1/2 wavelength high. There are some strange radiation patterns that happen when mounted higher. This antenna pictured above will have bifurcate if not triple lobes with the same receive nulls. It the main, will work well, and you might not be able to tell a difference, but optimally, you want it 1/2 wavelength high. Hope that helps and thanks for sharing. Best Regards and 73.

I got a Chameleon Lite Tactical Dipole (160-6m) about 40ft in the air, configured as an Inverted V, hooked up to my IC-7300. At 100w out, I get a SWR of 1.1:1 from CW to AM and FM calling frequencies. If you get a chance, get one for a review if you haven't already done so. Had mine for over a month and and made some good contacts with it. It's resonate on 160, 15 and 10m. Every other band needs to be tuned. There might be a way to configure the antenna to bring down the SWR on some bands, but the 7300 has no trouble tuning it for whichever one wants to use.

@BR20276 Год назад
One thing to understand is that at each end of the antenna there is a pigtail wire. Depending on what configuration you use you can use the pigtails to tune and change the swr with in a band if needed. You can trim the pigtails back ( both ends equally ) a little at a time to get the desired swr for the configuration you use or better yet you can just fold the pigtail back on itself a little at a time till you get the desired swr without trimming then that gives you the ability to change configurations and be able to retune if needed to the new configuration. You may get lucky and there won't be a huge need to adjust the pigtails, just know you have that option to shorten or lengthen the antenna if you need to using the folding method.

10:30, null is off the broadside off a dipole?? Unless I'm confused, dipoles are directional in the direction of the broadside, and the nulls are off the ends. And aren't inverted Vs mostly omnidirectional, very slightly favoring broadside?

Thanks for the video review, it was very informative. Does the antenna mast required to be grounded?...I've got mine (CB Band) on a painter's pole in a patio umbrella stand that I've grounded to a fence post just in case. Just wondering tho as I'm too afraid to put up an antenna in this explosive lighting South Florida area...Appreciate the feedback....Best Regards.

A half wave of 10 meters above the ground is 16.4 feet. That's all you need. I have a telescopic antenna sticking out of my California 2nd floor balcony at a angle and I get from the entire East Coast of the US & Canada & to Japan and New Zealand & Hong Kong daily. Performance on10 meters is 1,250 mile 1st hop compared to 20 & 40 300 mile 1st hop.

Attack Attack :) Typically antennas are resonant at 1 specific frequency, so if it is worth it for ya to be "resonant" on that one frequency on that band that's great. However, I truly believe you are limiting yourself... Having a so called resonant antenna is nothing, and if you don't believe me.. then maybe you will believe the ARRL antenna handbook which says the same. Because without them we would know nothing right? haha -- Quoted right from Chapter 2 of the ARRL antenna handbook. "Please recognize that an antenna need not be resonant in order to be an effective radiator. There is in fact nothing magic about having a resonant antenna, provided of course that you can devise some efficient means to feed the antenna. Many amateurs use non-resonant (even random-length) antennas fed with open-wire transmission lines and antenna tuners. They radiate signals just as well as those using coaxial cable and resonant antennas, and as a bonus they usually can use these antenna systems on multiple frequency bands."

Wait, you really believe dipoles null off of their broadside, not their ends? That’s dead wrong. Dipoles null off their ends, not broadside. That’s why vertical dipoles make great DX antennas, if what you said were true they’d shoot all the rf in the ground and straight up. Dipoles get about 2 dB gain broadside (perpendicular to the wire), with nulls off the ends. Just look it up.
@ll-bc7ou
@ll-bc7ou Год назад
An inverted V is omnidirectional, a horizontal dipole if the ends are north south the gain is east west if the ends are east west your gain is north south you had it wrong. Thanks for the video 73's

Seriously how hard is it to get a good swr on 10M on 17ft of wire... Come on this is baby stuff. You make it sound so scientific! With the bands as good as they are, any piece of wire will work ft8..
@HamRadioConcepts
@HamRadioConcepts 2 года назад
Come on man, you don't see the comments and questions I get every day. Step aside and let people learn. Or make a RU-vid video of your own... JUST REMEMBER, all I hear is the bands are in piss poor shape. And you're telling me "as good as they are"? So why is everyone telling me otherwise??
