I am pretty sure the future of transport is in small but modular gondola using mono rails, likely even reusing one side each of existing old dual ray railways that many countries still have in abundance. This tech would have to be self balancing, easy to automatically disassemble each day for cleaning, checkups and exchange of defunct components before being put into storage for the next day / next rush, with a decent number already waiting for passengers at every station, so that there is little need to request a pickup from another location. I believe this to be superior due to low cost, easily controllable costs for repairs and extending the system, and on the customers side low to no wait time with high flexibility regarding target destinations. It also would not require high transport speeds since it could support a mono-directional non-stop equal distance traffic flow. Such a system would be even flexible enough that it could replace busses and station dependent taxis.
