I got smashed into tiny pieces over and over again by the Baleful Shadow. Yikes, he was rough, and one of the only (mini) bosses I had to look up how to cheese.
@@ThatsAnAxe I remember getting owned by Bell Bearing Hunter slightly after i defeated Radahn. Even though i beat Radahn after a few more tries this mini boss took me almost twice as much to beat for some reason.
Revenants... ffing Revenants.... Like yes, if you use a holy healing spell with an area of effect you do half their health dmg or something and even stun them... But that didnt help me untill i actually made a paladin for my 6th character that had an ffing heal spell.... These guys are so much more difficult than most bosses in the game.
The shark giants in Bloodborne are absolutely worth beating. Because if you defeat them, you get the Rakuyo. Which is arguably the best weapon in the game.
The triple berserkers from God of War Ragnarok (Svipdagar and the Sisters of Illska) Fighting any lone boss after that just seems really laid back by comparison
@@pedalpeakmtb I have. They’re tough, but, once you learn their attacks, I feel like they’re easier to manage. The triple berserkers will switch their focus randomly so you need to be able to see all of them or you get blindsided
Yeah I once would have commented agreeing with you but then I managed to beat them so I know it's not too hard. But the Valkery Queen and the king beserker, they're way harder than any other boss in Ragnarok even if you drop the difficulty to give me story - that is unless you practice and practice and get talented enough to whoop their butts (like the guy who defeated the King in about 15 seconds on GMGW and another who defeated the Queen without upgrades (kratos lvl 1 - no runics) on GMGW.
If you do a follow up to this video, consider the Valkyries of God of War 2018. I know two of them are easier, but they are definitely considered end-game difficulty and normally require Lvl 5 or 6 gear.
Killing Saturn was a crucial part for my Axton build in BL2. Saturn drops The Hive rocket launcher, and pairing that with the Bee Shield and the Grog Nozzle can turn you into an unstoppable killing machine. This combination carried me all the way through to OP8.
I feel like axton and zero have the most trouble with him zero can bore him sometimes but still also in the vid they showed use a fire infinity which at the point should be lv 12 if i remember correctly lol
@@slasher8091 its last playthrough so infinity should be on level too, but in the last playthrough you really need to use elemental weapon correctly so fire on armored do basically nothing
So great to see Returnal getting more exposure. A total masterpiece!! And yes, this malformed hulk dudes are a pain. What’s even worse is trying to fight Nemesis (B3 boss) as a scout in coop. “I’m falling! And I CAN’T GET UP!”
Skyrim's Frost troll in high roughgar (yes, I spelled wrong because I don't remember the name) when you are in the first 5 to 10 level.. vs Alduin.. the final boss of the base game.
The dreamrunners in DmC: Devil May Cry. On lower difficulties they're hard enough at first. They portal away and they re-portal to a random location, they can block everything, they can counter most of your attacks, and there's basically only one way to get any hits on them, but they come alone, and once you get used to their attack pattern then they're manageable. On harder difficulties they are harder than the bosses. They come in pairs, they're faster, less predictable, and hit harder. They are the most memorably difficult enemies from that game, to me. I platinumed that game, one of the only games I ever 100%ed as far as trophies, so I spent a good amount of time replaying it, and since it's been years that I've played it I forgot about most things in that game, I can barely remember the bosses, but I clearly remember those things. I remember getting stuck at one point for hours because there were multiple pairs of them in a level. You would finally beat one pair and then another pair would appear just around the corner. Mind you there are still other minions and mini bosses around too so it's not like you can focus your sole attention on them.
Was watching this and wondering when the bosses from Metroid 2 would be here happy to see them at number 1 especially that boost guardian, took me so many tries
i don't know if "optional boss" can count as a "mini boss" but for me one was Demon of Hatred in Sekiro that dude about sent me through the roof more times than i can count
The problem with Demon of Hatred is that everyone treats it like it's a Bloodborne boss and tries to fight it like one. Wrong, it's not. He's probably my favourite boss fight in the game.
I feel like random cactuar and tonberry from throughout final fantasy could be here. The games like to put a really overpowered one in your path way before you have any chance of beating it
The final boss in Horizon Zero Dawn wasn't that difficult. Yes, its guns hit like a truck and it has a ton of HP, but it only moves slowly, and the attack patterns are quite predictable. I found the daemonic fireclaws that serve as minibosses in the expansion far hrder to fight. They are virtually immune to elemental attacks, have a ton of HP, a wide range of ranged and mele attacks that hit like a freight train and they are fast and highly agressive. In Destiny 2's Witch Queen expansion, I found Brutiks Lightbane to be a harder, or at least more frustrating, boss than the final boss fight against Savathun. While she does have a mass of health and unleashes Supers at about the same frequency as she breaths, she isn't agressively chasing you around or swarming you with highly agressive mele minions like Brutiks does.
agreed on the horizon one... those fireclaws were scary... Still one of the hardest monsters to fight in Forbidden West. And even more annoying to grind
for me stalkers were always the hardest because they're fast and invisible unless you can predict where they are and blast their invisibility generator off of them. i can't remember which area it is but i know there's one where you have to fight 2 or 3 of them at a time and honestly screw that!
@@breensprout Never found stalkers to be hard, as long as you keep out of range of their tail swipe. I could always see them quite easily, just watch for a distortion effect. Like a mirrage or flowing water. Then hit them with some shock arrows.
@@Bird_Dog00 i could take them down pretty easily if i could get them from range but if they ever got close to me it seemed like it was so hard to get out of range again or hide again, and if there was more than one you could never take them out from range bc one of them would see you.
@@breensprout Regaining some distance once a machine has engaged in close quarter fighting is generaly difficult, as they seem to be programed to seek mele, even if they do have a ranged option. I found that stalkers are easily confused if I have a high stealth rating. Just moving in and out of various cover and concealment keeps them form crowdng me. A tripcaster with shockwires helps a lot in keeping them at bay.
Oh man. I remember killing Saturn frequently trying to get the hive rocket launcher. I think you could also one shot him if you're using a sniper build maya. Those were good times.
Then Mortal Kombat had the nerve to make the miniboss harder in the 2nd game with Kintaro, more health, faster speed. Then in part 3 Motaro had projectile immunity and teleportation added
My favorite by far is Grimm from Hollow Knight, he’s by far been the most difficult and most satisfactory mini boss that I’ve ever fought. Lives in my mind rent free.
The Travelers from God Of War 2018. I could clobber the bosses without much issue but the Travelers were a problem. Tons of health, very tough armor and those huge swords hit really hard.
I'm surprised that GOW 2018 and GOW Ragnarok are not included in the list. Those valkyries and berserkers are such a pain in the butt compared to the last boss.
Lu Bu in the Dynasty Warriors games (specifically at Hu Lao Gate). Even on lower difficulties he has a massive health bar and can take you out in a few hits. Easier to run past him and take out the main boss.
The spider guardian from metroid prime 2 is so, so, sooo hard. I could never best it. I had to have a friend do it for me. I don't think I could do it today either
Serious talk here : i got sick and tired of people only talking about Megaman X. Don't misunderstand me please,it's a nice game and all,but why noone...noone at all...is talking about Megaman Battlenetwork? That's a really nice game too. I played the entire Megaman Battlenetwork series, both in Gameboy Advance and the continuation in 3DS. It has a nice story, nice visuals and a really nice soundtracks. Maybe i am the only one that likes Megaman Battlenetwork. :(
Have you ever played Ghost of Tsushima? After you're betrayed by the straw hats, you can fight 5 SH as side challenges. Once you beat all 5, you can challenge Rizio. This guy was way more challenging than Khan. My girlfriend thought I completed the game once I actually best him in combat.
The Old Iron Kings crown In the Dark Souls 2 DLC Lud and Zallen were the bane of my existence especially treading through the frigid outskirts was just a chore on top. Anyways love the video Falcon always ready for the Next content Can't wait for The Last of Us spoiler review. Keep up the great work.
Final Fantasy is a franchise that comes to mind for just putting in random encounters that are insanely difficult fights against stupidly powerful monsters. The Weapons from FFVII, the Arena Challenges from FFX, etc. You start getting cocky later in these games and then BAM 💥, you run into something that tears you a new hole, where one did not previously exist 🙄
Gotta agree about Dark Link in OoT, especially if you use the Master Sword, as the Biggoron Sword makes it easier as Dark Link can't jump onto the blade for a free hit, the two-handed sword deals more damage & has greater reach than the Megaton Hammer! Still, Dark Link is a lot harder than the Water Temple's actual boss Morpha! Also, I gotta agree that both the Boost & Spider Guardians in Metroid Prime 2 are a pain and, ironically, both grant Morph Ball upgrades upon being defeated!
The worker at the gamestop by me finished returnal. He’s a freak and so is to anyone who can do that. I cant get off the first bio dome. Lol . I should play it again.
You should definitely try playing it again. I really struggled in returnal when I first started playing. I don't play a whole lot of shooters so I was just getting beat down. Then once I started learning what weapons, alt fires, and items worked for me and my playstyle it all clicked. I have beat the game 7 times now and absolutely love it. Best of luck to you.
The Immortal One from Lost Odyssey. You had to fight through the entire arena game mode and complete every one with 3* to just get the chance to fight it, whereupon if you weren't near max level it was going to murder you relentlessly
A boss not a part of the main story (dunno if he fits as a mini boss or optional boss since some mini bosses in this list had boss characteristics like a dedicated arena and health bar) BUT Terra in Kingdom Hearts 2 was absolutely INSANE
I know what you mean, that extremely annoying tree sentinel before entering where Maliketh is, killed me more then Maliketh😅, it's good that he is optional, and crucible knights in general give me a hard time, and also getting to the secret boss in the subterranean shunning grounds, for me was more harder then the actual boss itself
To me, a miniboss is a reoccurring enemy that can seem like a boss fight on its own the first time you encounter it, but later becomes a common enemy. For example… Godmothers from Gotham Knights: “Allow me to introduce myself. I attack with armoured strikes one-hundred percent of the time, move really fast, and I'm a damage sponge. Good luck hitting me.” Blundertails from TLoS the Eternal Night: “You tryin' to break through my bros defence? I'll snap at you before you can do anything. You'll need to have the ability to slow time in order to…waaaaait a minu-“ Darknuts from TLoZ Twilight Princess: “I'm no slouch with my armour. Oh, you broke it off? You just made me faster. Wanna fight six of me at once in the cave of ordeals?”
The two Sharks in Bloodborne Dlc are indeed challenging.. but you get one of the best Dex-Weapons for defeating one of them. So it actually IS rewarding!
Same as as MK, Kazuya from Tekken 3 was extremely difficult. I remember my brother and I trying dozens of times to defeat him, only to defeat the final boss in the first try
@@Gatorade69 sorry my mistake. It has to be Tekken 2 if he was not in 3. But yeah, you fight the Devil after you beat Kazuya which is much easier than Kazuya
Oh, that's easy. Baldur as a final boss is a cake walk in comparison to Sigrun, the optional boss... GoW 2018. It's like Baldur is just a few parts of switching weapons, while Sigrun will simply crush your face (literally) if you manage to do at least one mistake.
I honestly don't remember what build I used my last playthrough of bloodborne, but I know I waited until I'd finished all but the final boss and I'd finished every chalice dungeon before doing the DLC, and everything was super easy. Bloodborne dlc isn't something to do late game if you want a challenge.
This is a niche game but Clownpiece from Touhou 15 is literally harder then the final boss and even the extra boss. Ironically it’s actually harder on below lunatic difficulty due to the in lore reason of Clownpiece being able to drive people insane, but of you’re a lunatic you’re already insane
I don't agree on the number 9 cause of how easy for you to group them up and blast them at once with the shotgun and use whatever weapon you want while they're down, then just repeat the process once they get up. Ashley isn't even an issue cause you can make her hide inside the boxes. There's another trick that I do where I kick one ladder before going up to group them on that single ladder that's raised up.
I would add any of the mini bosses in AC Odyssey/Valhalla. If you don't have the right build, or try to fight them while too under leveled/too early in the game you won't have a lot of success.
Two suggestions for the list: 1. Sigrun from God Of War 2018. Might not exactly be a mini-boss. I don’t actually know. But what I do know is that I refuse to fight her simply because of how much I’ve heard about how hard the fight is. Yes, that is a bitch move. No, I am not proud of it. But I’m just saying that I’d rather grind Cayo Perico in gta online than spend countless hours, or possibly even days, considering the fact that I am terrible, trying to beat her. 2. Hardrefill the Callous from Ragnarok. I literally cannot even beat him with mini-boss checkpoints on, so I really don’t think I’m gonna be able to beat Gna. Oh, that’s another one: Gna, the NEW Valkyrie queen in Ragnarok. For context, it’s his ranged attacks that I’m having the most trouble with.
