Totally agree with your comment about the group dynamic! A group’s chemistry definitely plays a part in determining whether a person become a fan or not. Primarily because becoming part of a fandom, in Kpop especially, it involves becoming invested - thats not only speaking in terms of time, money, and energy - but also this sort of emotional attachment to the individuals which make up the group. And the relationship between these individuals, which fans are able to observe, it provides a little extra substance to the overall fan experience, you could say. At least, that’s what I feel. And wait, I don’t know even know ITZY at all but I’ve for sure seen viral clips of Ryujin 🙊 she does seem intimidating ngl. I’d be scared too ☠️

@@Issuh I totally agree. And of course, you don’t just buy a kpop cd. You spend $50 and get the music plus photo album and various other memorabilia. I’ve never bought one. Personally, I’m a tight ass in that respect. I used to find it hard pay $16 for just a cd from a North American (NA) artist. Sometimes I wonder how NA bands/groups feel about the phenomenon of Kpop. When do you see NA bands/groups? Late night shows to promote their new album. Or Twitter and Instagram occasionally. We don’t have those goofy variety shows that endear the artists to us. Not only that, but those goofy variety shows help to keep kpop artists humble. How often do you hear of “Diva” kpop idol? If I do, it is always in jest. Comparatively, NA has hundreds, male and female. If NA artists figure out a way to adopt/adapt the Korean model, I think they could find it very lucrative.
