I still ended up making this concept after my previous 10 minutes thing (which was originally supposed to be this) after stumbling across some new stuff like 1:39! I tried to use as diverse but still impressive clips as possible... but it was hard cause yk.
@@tonybs03 lol I’m talking about it sounds like it’s a comfortable spot in her range Her tone sounds similar to studio in ways it doesn’t in other songs But doesn’t mean that exact performance didn’t have some pitch concerns
I just realized that Mariah's best vocals are when her eyes are closed. 3:19 in Hero, 3:43 in Miss You Most, 5:15 My All etc. Also her vibrato has greatly improved in consistency.
Sometimes I feel like when she close her eyes she imagines being by herself which cause her to do better because she once said herself that she is more comfortable in the studio when live she is nervous
Also she already know the older she gets the more fragile her voice so her confidence is also a big part to play but most of the time she could definitely hit high notes but her confidence gets in the way and she rely on play back or not singing it at all
I agree there is definitely something special about her mind when she sings. Maybe part of the reason she's bad at lipping is because she's not an actor at heart, but I also think that singing is such a personal, almost spiritual thing to her that its hard to act that experience out so to speak

I hope she gets back to at least her 2023 Christmas levels of live singing...which were FAR below what she had prior, but at least there were like 2 songs that were mostly live (Hero and HTHAS). C'mon Mimi, give us SOMETHING.
Yes Hero makes me especially sad, because she was always willing to sing it, and it is a forgiving song, so she's not required to hit the Eb5s (in my opinion). Hero has always been where she feels connected to her fans the most- so lipping it makes us lose some of that emotion.
@@outsideskippy1997 I was actually so sad when she started lipping the ending of Hero last year😭 like the bridge ok fine cause she struggled with it so much in 2022. But like the ending is the most emotional part with the best adlibs and actually it's probably the easiest part of the song too...
Give her some more time. She hasn't been the same since late 2023. It's like she doesn't wanna be out performing anymore, it feels like a lot like an obligation at this point. Hopefully she'll get her 2019-2022 energy back soon
She has more than 10 minutes though, in the past 12 months she has sang live for hours. This is just condensed segments from actual live performances. She only stuck to pre recordings for most of the show now for Vegas. Y'all act like she hasn't sang her ass off for 34 years, too. 😂

Mariah doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. No one in the entire Earth can do what she has done over 30 years! That's something outstanding and a jawbreaker.

I will be honest, and say even though I truly appreciate Mariah going up on stage and still performing however this way of performing isn’t sustainable. This makes me feel like we took Cautionriah for granted considering she still got up on stage and sang live.
@@Believe.H It makes me kind of nervous that Mariah is lipping so much atm because based on past trends her voice never stays in such great condition for long. So even if she does sing live more in the future her voice might not be in as good shape then as it is now😔
Ive noticed something everytime mariah has talked about the residency shes said it was something completely unexpected and that she wasnt even planning to do it but she finally decided to (almost like saying she didnt want to do it). If i recall correctly shes independent now, and i also saw someone on twitter saying that this vegas show are just to get some money for the promotion of mc16 since shes independent now... Idk maybe it makes sense she wouldnt waste her voice in something she didnt plan to do and something she doesnt like but ultimately has to do. Either saving her voice for recording mc16 album or mc16 tour or both
@@superbored4576 omg i think youtube deleted my comment but yes, im pretty sure she is. since 2021 i think. all her recent projects have been collabs with other artists so if you check the credits, that artists label will appear in them. but for example, if you scroll down on spotify in wbt 2021 late night valentine mix, you can see something like "MARIAH 2021" which means its an independent release and she owns the masters of it.
Do you really think with the amount of money she has that she would need to do a Vegas residency in order to fund an album or album promotion? She could fund it on All I Want 4 Xmas money alone. Whenever she releases a new album I highly doubt she’ll bother with much promotion or music videos cos she just doesn’t seem that invested anymore. I would love a new album with new vocals but I also would just like her to be happy and raise her kids if that’s what she wants to do and stop tarnishing her amazing legacy with these shows that are fully lipped. It’s becoming more and more difficult to defend her at this point
I never released the attempts she actually went for in early 2023. Maybe early-mid 2023 was overhated bc she went for the same attempts as 2024 but actually sounded wayy less hoarse. Also the christmas 2023 shows sound so good now relistening to it!
yeah her voice was definitely better than Dec 2022 in early-mid 2023, but it was just really inconsistent. Like if you only look at the good attempts then she had actually had the same level of belt attempts (C#5s and D5s) as current Mariah
It’s really really sad but I do feel like Mariah has pushed herself for years despite her compromised vocal state it’s actually a wonder she waited this long to lip shows as much as she is now, I think any other artist in her position wouldn’t have waited that long, but if anything it shows her life long commitment to her craft and singing live. Whereas before she used to control her voice, her voice now controls her depending on her vocal state. In the last 5 years especially her inconsistency has become the very thing that hinders her from performing live. It’s not the necessarily that she can’t hit the notes because she obviously can if she’s recording the studio tracks to lip to, it’s that she can’t hit them consistently anymore. She might have a day where she wakes up and her voice is in a really good condition and be able to perform large parts of the shows live, however she can’t risk singing live for 30 shows if she only has a couple shows where she is in good vocal health, it becomes a question of whether its worth the gamble. Whereas she used to take that gamble and was able to push through shows where she wasn’t in the best vocal state, she doesn’t anymore simply I guess because her voice didn’t bounce back after quarantine the way she probably wanted it to. Unless she takes some very serious decisions about her voice in terms of surgery etc which we all know she would have done by now if she was going to unfortunately this isn’t going to get better. I hate how we used to take her previous vocal state for granted and compare it to the 90s which quite frankly is a completely different singer from what we saw for the 2010s. Love her with all my heart I hope I’m proved wrong
I genuinely hope she isnt recording. Yes new music would be great. But she needs to heal her voice and get help immediately. 2024 is the Merry Christmas 30th Anniversary and I believe she must have something even bigger in the works. She cannot go on stage a mess. 30 years of AIWFCIY. She needs to get it together.
I just wonder how her sound has become this constricted in a way, like something is holding her back from really hitting the right notes, or even sing live in the first place. She just doesn t seem to let her voice be free, maybe it s because she lost a lot of her confidence……who knows
This is a revelation. I think it's one thing to listen to her current live singing layered in between pre-recorded vocals, where the halo of "good vocals" can outshine the not-so-good live vocals. But to hear all of the live bits together just underscores the fact that she really and truly has lost it. I hate to say that, especially since it looks like she is concentrating very hard on delivering good vocals. I think we can be forgiving if she cannot belt out notes with ease like she did in her youth. But she is often flat/off pitch and her belting voice has taken on a harsh, metallic edge that is just not pleasant to hear. Things have gotten so bad, yet, she feels the need to put on this false public facade that she is still the same powerhouse vocalist of her youth. I wish she could carry on forever, but at some point she has to stop before she tarnishes her legacy even further. Or maybe the best thing would be for her to disappear for a while, raise the kids, travel, live a normal civilian life, and then come back to the world as a completely different/wiser artist who is no longer bogged down by the baggage of her former capabilities.
I mean, in my opinion she hasn't completely lost it- I could see those issues in 2018-2022- but her voice has improved since then. Sure, you could argue that these vocals aren't very good, but they are certainly not Mimi's worst. And the lambily absolutely has lowered our standards for Mariahs voice- but that's how we celebrate improvement from 2022. Frankly Mariah in the 2010s had frequent pitch issues- so 2023/2024 is only marginally worse than that. But I do agree that it might serve Mariah well to take some time off, especially since it doesn't seem like she has the desire to perform currently.
