Im what you call a planet fitness pro 😂😂 but thank you man I havent train on ball since my HS years . Your videos help me out tremendously wish stuff like this was around 2012
Basketball practice is boring and repetitive, with no flashy stuff in the pro world. Game-like simulations, that as far away from the game situation as it could get. Besides, there is no such thing as bad practice. This is an amazing practice with great energy.
@@tjgreenrealtor3474 actually it's footwork, it helps to improve agility, of course you don't do it in an actual game, and it will also help in a catch and shoot play style or to improve pull up jumpers
Also, do the reps and workout regardless. Without a hoop, you can still rep out the technique with a ball and space and go through your jump shot form and progression. You're still getting work in. Then when you have access to a hoop it's that much easier to rep the move and go into your shot.
Use ONE hand..shoot the ball against a wall, focus on rotation. (You can do this sitting even, doesn’t have to be far) Periodically use your guide hand also, if the ball doesn’t rotate the same, you have an issue with your guide hand, if your mechanics change dramatically, your shot mechanics are off.
It is, not the point of the drill. But I don't really like it cause it's not a movement you would use in a game due to it being a travel. Perhaps they could turn first and then catch and shoot.
I don’t get these trainers who make up these pointless drills/exercises to set themselves apart. If he was that great he wouldn’t be advertising $300 a month memberships on a website like he’s running a 24 hour fitness gym.
@@dave.thedev It's A Travel. Whatever the purpose of the drill is, you are teaching bad habits to travel. If this was Steph Curry, it's still a TRAVEL. (Maybe not for James Harden)
@@brennanang8979 Which part of the video do you mistakenly think is a travel? The momentum catch is throwing the ball out early as soon as they catch it to AVOID a travel. The other moves, they plant both feet at the same time to be able to CHOOSE their pivot foot. Non of these are travels. Also, no one does these drills in isolation if they haven't mastered the basic movements of basketball. DJ is a pro skill trainer and trains pro players. I think he knows what he's doing. But you do you, we'll keep an open mind and get better. Also, a side note: James Harden doesn't travel on most of his moves. Study the rules and you'll see why.
@@dave.thedev If you don't think this video is teaches players to travel, no sense in debating this with you. You need to learn the extreme basics of basketball. Fyi, the Travel in the video started 3 seconds in and runs through the whole 10 minutes. (I was kidding with James Harden...nevermind!)
