The Pool met with musician Corinne Bailey Rae to talk about coming back to music after the death of her first husband, and her new album The Heart Speaks in Whispers.
I saw her 5 years ago in Houston at the HOUSE OF BLUES. It was around the time my mom passed away. I used to play Corinnes music at the house & the entire time at her concert I cried my eyes out. She has helped me heal when I've been so sad
Corinne seems like the loveliest of souls. Didn't think we would ever hear from her again, but it's amazing to hear that shes come out on the other side with new material-can't wait to listen!
+islezeus right. this is the world we live in. even the best of artists are participating in this stupid new generation we call Hip Hop, Rap and R&B. SMH. it's good to know all of them haven't fell into it. Thank you Ms Corine!!
Keirra Mitchell I so agree with you. I do not know what has become of black music today. If your song doesn't have a certain beat or doesnt talk about money, bitches power or doesn't have a certain rapper/s on it then it isn't "hip" ... no substance or musicality at all.
I so love her calming presence same presence that resonates from her songs. She is a wonder my word. She is quiet and lovely and warm. Love her truly. Please continue it is so rare to find songstress and talents like yours. Seriously don't dare stop I will be here listening and waiting for the next project that will burst forth from your mouth taking life in my life. Peace, love, and soul.
Corinne is one brilliant artist. Saw her here in Los Angeles when she was promoting "The Sea," and she played in an old church called Vibiana. It was a magical, transcendent experience, especially as she's still relatively fresh from her experience losing her husband. I remember being in tears during half her performance. And needless to say, the audience had moments of hushed silence too. I saw her earlier this evening too, when she made an in-store performance and signing to promote her magnificent new record. Thank you, Corinne, for baring your soul in more ways than you can ever imagine. I am thankful for "knowing" you through your music.
GoldNava lol what does that have to do with anything in today's age of the internet? 😉 But nah she's not all over the tv here in the uk either. She covered it when she was promoting the previous album in video interviews and written press and i think on fb back in the day
Corinne is a high quality, and engaging woman...I am happy that she has found the lightness of life once again...I am glad she has gotten married again, and has gained strength, and healing from the traumatic events of her previous loss...I just saw her at Thalia Hall in Chicago on 7/28/2019 and she and the band put on a great show, and had a great time with the audience...Total pros...I adore her greatly...
Has been my absolute favorite artist. So genuine, authentic and just possesses this radiance about her that i cant describe. Not just a natural talent but an amazing person. I love her so much
She's so full of joy that it "spills over" into everything she does..or says....and that new album..is just a masterpiece. So many great songs..some very soothing and some not so soothing..but all are excellent.
I had the please of seeing her Andra Day about & years ago when this song came out and they were both FANTABULOUS! I just love the sweetness of Corinne’s voice and her lyrics always trigger good vibrations.
That was awesome. Thanks for posting this. Definitely she is a true artist with a voice and I am glad that she is sharing that part of herself with us. Thanks for the new album as well, great arrangements, vocals and everything.
This was great! She is such a beautiful woman and what she said about all of us having so much wisdom inside of us that we may not even know is there really resonates.
Such a beautiful interview, thank you for sharing :) I've always really enjoyed Corinne's music, and her gigs have been amazing. So interesting to her speak in this way - plus, how awesome is her hair looking lately! :)
Love this post she is looking really well. Glad to hear she is feeling joy. I never knew the reason she had stopped. Glad to see a bit about the woman behind the music I love so much.❤️
When I was 15 my girlfriend went on a trip with her friend and she came but her friend didn't.... We were all really close and your music really helped me get through that and I'm a gangsta lol.
Death is natural When my wife died I still haven't recovered . We got to move cause standing still draws you back. Go forward and keep your dreams too yourself. It's god's way.
Wait.... wait....... She married someone she knew, before her husband died? Someone she worked closely with in her career? Not a good look. This is actually how a lot of murder mysteries start. Not a good look. How were you close enough to this "friend" that you would have a romantic relationship with them after your husband died? I'm sure a lot of people would hate for their husband's to marry their husbands close female friends after they die. It's a little bit weirdddd...
