Question: is the Mario Card (save) omitted entirely in the English version of the game? Because I recall seeing a video that you can turn off the announcer if you buy a card. And I think it was in English? Try taking it off Freeplay?
I'm not sure, I remember it had the card reader and dispenser option like Maximum Tune did but I didn't think the presence of that card system impacted gameplay options aside from adding a sort of "save" option to encode on the card's mag strip. I don't have these two particular machines anymore, so I can't test now.
Good review. I am thinking about getting the Mario Kart GP one cab soon. I see you are running GP 2 on the original cab. If I wanted to do the same, what do I do? Can I just buy the rom or CD or do I need the whole triforce system? Thanks!
Yeah, I picked up the GP2 triforce PCBs from a guy in Italy. They had the hardware key but there was a strange addition of an SSD and an IDE Sata adapter so I'm guessing he was converting them somehow. All this to say - they are different.. It took me forever to find, sorry - this is the guy that I got them from: www.ebay.it/usr/mar.vetto
I ended up putting these in both of them: na.suzohapp.com/products/monitors/49-2958-01 I couldn't find an official monitor surround and mounting kit, so just came up with my own mounting solution with spare wood boards and I used picture foam core (like they use in framing prints at Michael's and Hobby Lobby) to frame the top and bottom of the monitors.
Linked, one of the cabinets is "Red" and one is "Blue" which is handy when someone comes and gets me "Hey mario kart is having issues? Which one? The Red one!" Also, there's a color selector in game settings, Namco provided both colors :)
