1. No ear training: Singers should train their ears to identify notes and intervals. 2. No daily warm-ups: Warming up your voice every day is necessary for good vocal health. 3. Singing with your speaking voice: Don't rely on your speaking voice for singing. You need to learn how to use your chest voice, mixed voice, and head voice. 4. No focus on shruti and tala: Shruti is the pitch of the notes and tala is the rhythm. Singers need to focus on both. 5. Not enough repetition: Repetition is key to improving your singing. 6. Singing random gamakas: Gamakas are ornaments used in Indian classical music. Singers need to learn how to use them correctly. 7. Poor posture: Good posture is important for singing. 8. Self-learning: While self-learning can be helpful, it is not enough. Singers also need feedback from a teacher. 9. No multia training: Multia training is the practice of singing in different ragas. This helps singers develop their control over all the notes. 10. Voice abuse: Singers need to be aware of how they use their voice throughout the day, not just when singing
Hi sis i was working as a music teacher in 3 months suddenly my voice became too tight and strain i too voice rest About 4 months and doing voice excercise by voice therapy still my voice doesnt sounds like before plz give some suggestions
I am 78. After a couple of months of self learning, I joined four months ago a studio to learn karaoke singing (one to one training). I don't know the fundamentals of singing/music that you have explained. Still I think I am making some progress, because my teacher is a kind and talented person. I have shared your video with him. Is it necessary for me to take other lessons in singing, such as those you offer? I will consult my teacher also. Thanks for your lucid explanation.
Thank you mam for the information I guilty on all 10 mistakes I’m singing since long time but I never noticed these mistakes I’ve learnt many things from you I’m from Pakistan God bless you abundantly you are doing a great job 🙏😇

Honest Amazing video on mistakes committed. Thank u. Does certain foods one consumes have an effect on one's voice. Hos about aging process....how does an elderly person prevent strain or develop a reasonably voice of quality. Many thanks😊
Yes definitely diet plays an important role in voice quality. Particularly acid reflux is very harmful to the voice so maintaining good gut health is a must. Yes aging does affect the voice in the natural flow, but aging of the voice can definitely be slowed with proper training and regular vocal exercise. The earlier you start, the better.
Mistake no 4.... generally faced by the teachers while teaching. But you have not given tips to rectify the Shruti and Tala mistakes, especially if it is a group of 17, where each one's shruti will be different. How to teach in such cases?? Can you please share ur thoughts please 🙏🏼
Correcting shruti in a group setting maybe challenging. Even if it is a group, the students should be encouraged to sing some parts individually so that the shruti and tala can be corrected.
Mam please teach me aththimara poovithu song mam please please mam and my age is 10 and please upload this song please mam and i watch ur video only mam for my warmups mam so please upload that song mam

Valuable advices. But what are her credentials to be questioning other teachers? Another musician who is neither great carnatric artist or film singer? If you want to give advice please do so without hitting out at teachers, particularly when you are a failed carnatic musician yourself. If not for RU-vid where would you be that you are saying teachers are bad?
Thank you for your kind words. I have not bashed any particular individual, but have clearly mentioned it in the context of certain wrong teaching methods which are very prevalent today. Moreover you have not contested any of my points factually, so the intent of your comment seems to be more to troll rather than having a constructive debate. Regarding my credentials, your definition of success seems to be very myopic, limited to films and stage performance. I have particularly chosen not to take that path as I wished to contribute towards music education. The fact that you equate that to ‘failure’ is very disrespectful to the entire teaching community. I take great pride in my work and the effort I have put in to create high quality content. This has been more than validated by students across the globe and professional musicians as well. Hope you will someday grow your musical perspective and start respecting people who work outside the mainstream.
@@VoxGuru Sorry if I sounded rude in my earlier message. However, please please refrain from making remarks about any of the gurus. May your great service continue. Hugely appreciate it.
Sonu Nigham once gave this advice that one should sing in ones speaking voice as western singers do- this is really confusing as your advice and Sonus contradict each other.
Speaking voice is the starting point to know what your natural range is. And his main point is that one should sound natural and not create a very artificial/fake voice for singing. That is definitely true as we need to sound like ourselves even though we are singing different ranges. So there will have to be some elements of your original voice, but that has to be carefully blended with these other registers so that you sound natural and also don’t strain your voice. It’s an art more than a science 😊
thanks for your prompt response- when we strain to sing in registers beyond our capacity we lose our natural voice and end up with a strained, unnatural voice- some singers go beyond their range to copy the original singers for which i myself is guity of.My advice through experience is that one can increase ones range in a gradual manner may be going up in semitones for example : Bb to B to C to C# etc@@VoxGuru

Superb and very useful video ma'am. I usually miss ear training, repeated practice, daily warmups, singing random gamakas and multi raga training. Will focus on these definitely to become a good singer. Thanks again🎉
