The new Space Marine Scouts from Kill Team: Salvation are now available in a box of their own. They are supposed to be normal humans, not genetically modified super human (primaris). So the scale is wrong.

Don’t play 40k Marines, but I always appreciate these scale comparisons. I play 2nd ed with 90s minis so it’s nice getting a sense of what new models might still fit - which is rare but occasionally happens. These and your swatches are simply the best. I find the whole channel consistently provides the most useful information on new paints and minis amongst the other hobby channels. Thanks for your great work!

The new Scouts look like they're just next to other recent 40k models. They're not quite as big as an Intercessor, but decently taller than a guardsman. Which is about right lorewise. They're superhumans in training and should look a fair bit bigger than a baseline human. The old ones were basically the same height as guard. On a different note: that metal Scout is so cool!

I got both sets. Same size and the shotguns from the black templar upgrade set fit perfectly.

They shouldn't have made up that primaris storyline and just improved the scale to make them lore-accurate. They implemented that with terminators and now it seems scout marines are primaris'd. Unless they make scouts as elite units of marines like in space wolves instead of initiates per codex compliance, unless gulliman re-writes/revises it.

Old Scouts are now closer to Fresh neophyte/Acolytes and these scouts are much more at the end of their transformation. imma be using both.

Another issue with modern models (to me at least) is that they are often festooned with delicate details that are very likely to break off. Older models was smaller and more conservative with the detail. Thus, they were good gaming pieces. The modern models seem far more suited to being display only.

Compared to a modern Cadian model, they're firstborn height, along with the other Primaris marines and the Terminators.

I use the space marine scout bodies for guardsmen with carpus armor, so this is going to be a problem for me.

I like the new scouts. I think GW is allergic to branding anything Primaris now. Lorewise makes sense why make a firstborn scout when you can make a Primaris scout.

Marines got bigger since they invented "primaris" in v8. New scouts are also bigger now to match the new scale, makes sense.

Is this the kit with just the scouts in it or is it the Salvation box that also comes with the Eldar? If it's just the single team box, does it come with all the cards and specific tokens?

They're the same kits. Kill Team Salvation comes with cards and tokens, the single team box doesn't.

Yes, scouts are primaris sized now. All new Space Marines in the galaxy will be primaris.

@@an0nycat Eventually they will too. The only reason they don't so far is the cost of producing the grey knights models, which I don't think really sell all that well. And, in-universe, the fact that Cawl did not have their unique geneseed. But, since Space Marines who already have the geneseed can be upgraded to primaris, that is only a temporary issue.

Yes, 25 and 28 are not as tall, but all base sizes of 32mm and above are the same.

The original space marine figures from 1987 (RTB01) are *tiny* compared to later offerings and recent space marine figures, in a couple of years the entire range will be at 40mm and everything will have to be remade to fit the new scale size.

It's finally time the miniatures get bigger and more realistically proportioned. Most of Warhammer looks like a Terry Pratchett cover and this does neither fit the current times nor Warhammer's own presentation as a serious medium now. Next to miniatures from e.g. Infinity and Wasteland Warfare, the tiny gorilla men are simply not attractive, and really the only reason I got Warhammer minis is because I the game is so dominant and because Infinity has this weird and problematic Islamic faction that's cobbled together with zero historical understanding.

Well, considering Scouts are literally Space Marines without their armor, kinda makes sense they are Primaris size 😂 (plus old metal 40k models are ugly AF, Primaris all day!)

I used to be upset by scale creep. Now that I can print them, I adapt them the way I want to be the same size as the ones I already got and / or work on their proportions to make them a bit more realistic if need be. No whining, no frustration, no FOMO, no fear of scalpers either. yay.

The whole primaris thing was always stupid.. the lore was dumb, instead of just super armored marines we got super, super armored marine to run along with them. The primaris were created because they feared pissing of the fan base who feared their old collections being invalidated, that's it, the only reason GW sqashed them into the lore. Time for the Old marine models to go because everything in the line has the same scale creep now and has since at least 8th edition. The old sculpts look bad when you run stuff side by side, particularly when seeing the scale.. it looks like take your kids to work day 😂

The old stuff always looked bad scale wise, marines have always been smaller then what they were described in lore, now they are appropriately scaled compared to other factions

They should just remake the firstborn the same height as the primaris, mix the squads, have mixed firstborn and primaris tactical squads with multiple weapon options and call it a day.

@@sleeplessknight99 They don't even need to do that.. Armor marks already have a variety of types, why do did we or do we need a whole new subset of "Super Duper" Marines.. make it a different newer armor type and call it a day.
