@@RantManRants i've seen so many people trash him over the years for his casting, i genuinely don't understand the over the top hate for him. he's no Arnold of course, but he still does the job. the film as a whole is underrated af
Adrien Brody killed that role. I dig whatculture as a whole, all the different types of videos (gaming, horror etc.) That submission actually pissed me off. Not only is Predators a badass movie, but Adrien carried that movie. Get real What Culture. Stop reaching.
As one who has studied acting AND singing, singing is MUCH more difficult than accessing one's emotions. Acting is much easier than singing because singing requires acting to do successfully. Acting doesn't require singing....
@@chopchop1437 yep it’s a shame we never saw more of him. When ‘The Predator ‘ was released and we had all the stuff about what could have been in that pod at the end. In my ‘Mind Canon’ I always imagine that opens with Royce within.
I absolutely love Streets Of Fire, and I think Michael Pare is just fine as Cody. Cody is a war-worn, jaded ex soldier. Why would that make the character an emotion machine?
No one said that he needed to be an emotion machine. It's his line delivery that's being criticized. Whenever Arnold Schwarzenegger talks in the first Terminator movie, it's memorable to most audiences. I just watched Robin Williams in Insomnia and he's also emotionless yet he put on a very good performance. Al Pacino in the first two Godfather films was also largely subdued.
Conor McGregor in Road House was hilarious. He was an over the top cartoon-y villain yes, but he basically just played himself. It was unintentionally funny, and if you don't take him seriously every move he makes, every word out of his mouth is utterly hilarious. I feel like he was the best part of the movie, in a "it's so bad it's good" kind of way
Big miss on Streets of Fire. MP did a very credible job. Yes, he couldn't keep up with the other talent in the movie but this is one my long time B movie loves and many others will say the same thing. We don't watch it despite MP; he's part of the package and part of the B movie vibe. Sorry, you don't get it.
I disagree about Topher Grace, and here’s why: Was he a good Venom? No. If you are basing off of the comics, that is not him. Is he good in the role given to him? Yes. His version of Eddie is great, and him just being a pettier version of Peter is inspired… until they had to make him Venom for five minutes at the end. Spider-Man 3 is great and bad and fantastic and terrible.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for including Streets Of Fire in here, it is SO UNDERRATED! YEAH, Pare's not the most charismatic guy in the world, but the role was pretty much in his wheelhouse(Eddie and the Cruisers). Nonetheless, it is an AWESOME movie, and has a minor role played by one of the most badass punk icons of the '70s (Lee Ving of FEAR).
When I watched Road House (2024), it felt like two different films. The first was pretty good, with some interesting ideas. Then McGregor appeared and suddenly it became a far less entertaining movie.
I watched it today. When he first showed up on screen, butt naked and walking like an Ape pretending to walk like a human I thought "oh so I guess this movie won't be good anymore"
Dude, Adrian Brody was awesome as Royce in Predators. That's been the best Predator movie since the first two. This sounds like somebody just not liking Brody.
Its funny that most of us know Beyonces best acting role as Foxxy Brown from Goldmember. 😂 shes just not an actor, although if she put forward a little effort, she could be. Correct me if im missing any roles.
Jennifer hudson outshine her completely in that Dreamgirls movie, She's just that bad, a lesser known (at the time) actress/singer outshine her completely
I’d bet a good amount of money that Forrest Whittakers performance was greatly influenced by direct. Not to mention many hands in the pie including two directors and a bunch of studio notes. I’m pretty sure he’s supposed to be a rebel version of Vader without the full medical support Vader got from the empire. As painful as his suit may be
@@smalls-ii1zd Star wars has a big problem with over directing their actors. And with Whitacre, he takes direction seriously. I worry that Filony will do the same if given the big reigns. He may over direct and pull a George. "I don't like sand." Lol
I know i'm not the only one that thinks MacGregor's Knox was EXACTLY what that kind of movie needed. A cartoony campy villain that just chewed threw everything with enthusiastic gusto. He made what could have been a boring villain so much fun, and his poor acting ability just added to that. Crushed it, unintentionally or otherwise.
I bet Stanley Kubrick must be turning in his grave, since Ridley Scott got to make a film about Napoleon and he did not. I still want to watch that film though.
I’m gonna piggyback off of Venom and say Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kassidy/Carnage. He just didn’t bring the cringe and energy that role deeply needs. After hearing him voicing The Joker and playing Trickster on tvs The Flash, I would say Mark Hamill does psychopath in a way that would’ve been perfect for Carnage
It could be said there were better casting options or the writing let down the role but to say ‘terrible acting’ from Adrien Brody in ‘Predators’ you’ve clearly just got some hate for the guy because he did a great job, 2nd best predator movie if not prey, his role is fun to watch. Gritty, short-line comments but felt a good match for the role.
History lovers hated Napoleon because of how much the film took liberties. Napoleon was supposedly way much younger when he did his achievements, but Joaquin Phoenix is almost 50.
I dont mind brody in predators, I'd say topher grace is the more jarring casting as it took away the shock as he usually plays a weasel, just put him on the list twice 😂 With Connor mcgreggor in road house he reminded me of the androids in robocop 3 just grinning and being a bit creepy.
Brody was actually great in Predators! J.Phoenix was surprisingly really disgraceful Napoleon, but it was also Ridley Scott's fault! And yes, Sophie Turner is a charisma void ruining Jean Grey character!
Why didn't they just stick with Ernie Hudson for Triton? I know Happily Ever After isn't canon by any means, but that was still perfect casting imo. It's like why did Marvel recast Padro Pascal for Mister Fantastic/Reed Richards, when they already had the perfect match with John Krasinski?
@@danielrubinstein896 Yeah. He was just there because so many fans hyped the idea. He's not a great Mr. Fantastic despite what he can do with other roles.
Spot on with Connor McGregor. Though he isn't an actor. Stupid casting. As someone who's enjoyed Jake Gyllenhaal's acting over the years the only thing that impressed me this time was his physical conditioning. In what was an all round trash attempt to remake a movie that shouldn't have been attempted to start with.
Unpopular opinion: I enjoyed Connor McGregor in Road House. That doesn't mean I thought his acting was good, it wasn't. But he looked like he was having a blast making this movie and I thought he was entertaining. It's funny, I enjoyed Jake's performance because I got invested in his story and he genuinely made me believe he was Dalton. When you look at it, Jake plays a character who has some depth that you get invested in because you want to know more of his backstory and you definitely need a good actor to pull that off. Connor plays a psychopath who will kill someone and not think about it after. That character does not need depth, it just needs to be entertaining and I honestly think Conner pulled in off. Sure I had to watch the movie a couple of times to appreciate the performance, but it was fun.
I just saw the underrated Streets of Fire for the first time, on the big screen, a month ago. What a gem! And, yeah, Michael Pare is clearly the film's weakest link, but I don't mind him in the film when everyone else is so memorable. Plus, Tom Cruise would have been too short and too cocky for the role. Pare is effective as a dumb lug hero who is complimented by smarter characters like Rick Moranis' insecure and mercenary talent manager and Amy Madigan's cynical and hard-as-nails veteran.
my jaw dropped when i saw that tom holland was playing nathan drake and mark wahlberg was playing sully, not only are neither of them right for their respective roles, but their acting styles are completely different and in no universe would i buy mark wahlberg being tom holland's mentor
Nearly every film on this list had way more issues with the script then the acting. So I have no idea what the hell your implying but no one would have made most of these films better then what they are with the script they had.
Royce isn't Dutch. Adrien Brody isn't Arnold Schwarzenegger. Plus, casting and acting are two different things. Not every military related man is a huge muscular mountain who would require metric tonnes of nutrition in the jungle.
Brody’s portrayal of Changretta in Peaky Blinders I thought took away from the show and was a poor performance for such a great actor. He basically played a stereotypical goomba who wasn’t as intimidating as the character should’ve been.
I disagree about Sophie. I think she is a wonderful actress but the script for Dark Phoenix was horrible. She did the best she could with what she had.
McGregor was too over the top in this role and threw off the pacing and feel of the movie each time he was present so much so that some scenes made my wife and I laugh out loud
I'd have to go with the Xenomorph as my fave alien. For me, it's the one in Alien 3. Why? Because A3 was the one where it introduced the concept of the Xenos taking on features of their hosts. Yes, the FX were horrific and all, but the concept of the Xenos being _that_ adaptable fascinated me then and now.
Honestly I thought Brody was great in Predators, going against the steroid bodybuilder stereotype for a soldier. Also I’m not sure if Bardem’s bland performance is because he didn’t try or just because Disney’s output nowadays is just shit.
I think Sophie Turner did a good as Jean Grey in the X-Men franchise not like Jennifer Lawrence as Mysterique in the X-men franchises and she felt boring soulless. Not like actresses in the first three X-men movies, she was perfect felt more like the character too.
Venom was always BIG. Topher Grace in his Venom skinsuit was just too small. Tom Hardy is significantly bigger than Topher to start with, but the most crucial change they made in the Tom Hardy Venom movies, was to make the symbiote increase his mass like 2-3 times, making Venom appear to be the correct, intimidating size.
I thought Warren was great in Reds. Hollywood always prettifies real-life people, and for a political activist, the real-life Reed was fairly handsome, if not movie-star handsome. His speech on the train about democracy brought a tear to my eye.
idk the bad acting ones are getting kinda gross, really hard job, no control over the result, and toxic fans end up targeting you 🤷♂️ do your thing i do ❤ love your channels
I blame the writers and directors for X-men movies. They neglected the comics as far as the characters go. The actor wasn’t bad, just the story changed the character.
It is a must watch. Yeah they are right about Michael Pare not being right for the role but that is because this movie is fantastic and all the other actors were electric and he was mainly... meh.
can't believe you talked about multiple live action disney remakes and didn't mention the total dumpster fire that was will smith in alladin. i can't imagine anyone being able to replicate william's iconic turn, but will smith was just about the worst choice possible. he's so far past his expiration date that he just came off like your unfunny uncle trying to do impressions while he's drunk. every scene he was in was cringe beyond belief. honestly, the only people that might have been able to tackle that role are jack black or jim carrey, other than that, it was just a disaster waiting to happen. besides, smith was never particularly good to begin with - movies he was in that were good were usually good in spite of him, not because of him.
Adrian Brody trying to be "tough action hero" was painful to watch. Killed what could have been a great movie. I still enjoyed it, but Adrian was horribly miscast. Which is a shame. He is a good actor who would have been better cast in the psycho role played by Topher Grace. Although Topher was the best actor in the whole movie.
Dear Gareth, stop improvising with non-American names! There are plenty sites and RU-vid videos with proper pronunciation of actual people's names. LEARN it!
Half of these are straight grasping at straws. Adrien Brody was not bad in Predators, just not amazing. McGregor in Road House was one of the best parts and I don’t care what anyone says. Sure, he played himself basically but that was fine for me. His video game GTA strut was hilarious! And Tom Holland was not that bad in uncharted based on what they were going for. If they wanted to do a fully adult rendition of Nathan Drake finding Shamballa, yeah we would have a big problem, but obviously they wanted a little more down to earth and young story to kick everything off. I would prefer the writing get changed before the casting on that one.
I dont think Adrian Brody's and Topher Grace's entries on here are valid. It's not that the acting was bad, they were just poorly casted. I mean Brody gave it his all in Predators, it's just him as a person wasn't right... same for Topher, you could see Topher was having a blast in his role and seemed excited about being venom.... he just wasn't the right person for it. Unlike the Joaquin Phoenix, who just seemed to lull through Napoleon or how spot on you were on Forrest whittaker... just my 2 cents
