✨UPDATE✨ I have now remade this video with better quality narration and updated editing. See it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vYTB4TW5S1Q.htmlsi=6phfTwT69hUXwk6B
Great stuff. As someone who went to AT every couple of years from 1986 onwards (lived 200 miles away from the park) this brought back many happy memories. Thank you
I rode the bobsled in 1981 when we left school and went on a final 5th year school trip there. A friend Phillip came off and burnt a hole in his trousers on the track. It was definitely dangerous 😂
Like a trip through my childhood this was mate! I’ve lived my entire life just down the road and my mates and I spent so much time thrashing these rides! It was free for us back in the day!
A brilliant video. This deserves far more viewers than what it has so far. It was a trip down memory lane and then some! Thank you for your awesome work and superb facts. You have a new subscriber.
Thank you so much! I’d love to redo this video with better audio and I’ve also found some more facts recently. I try to do a mix of UK and US parks. Theme park history is one of my favourite subjects.
When i started the video i thought the magic carpet looked very like the magic carpet ride that was at my local theme park when i was young. Turns out it was the exact same magic carpet at M&Ds. Great video, i do love a bit of theme park history.
Great video, some rides i remember like the bobseigh, rides like the beast, i couldn't remember. Well done to the people involved in making this video !!
i remember riding the 4 man bob, and around the world in 80 days, and the flume, and the corckscrew. and 1001 nights. that had a whip on it when that got going. the first haunted house was ok too. and a blaster from duel could be bought from the AT shop until recently.
Some classic rides that you got to experience. I always preferred the old Haunted House and I'm pleased to see a return to classic storytelling with The Curse at Alton Manor.
@@CoasterConnections haven't ridden the new Curse at Alton Manor, as haven't been back since 2019. I also remember the apple coaster, and the astroglide. and as for shops that are no longer there, I have a square dairy milk mug from the Cadburys chocolate house.
My first ever coaster was that dragon at Alton Towers, 1986, when I was 6. Two years later my dad took me on the corkscrew where he said I could say aby swear word I wanted to lol😂 Oh s*it was on repeat. I didnt like rides until my teen years. Alton Towers has so many wonderful memories for a lot of us.
Some great memories there. Love that all swearing is allowed on the Corkscrew! I was scared of coasters until my teens, but I will always remember my first ride on Nemesis in 1994.
The wall can be seen from Thirteen’s queue in the area behind the on ride photo stall. It’s painted green to blend in with the trees. However, I believe the remains of the Alpine Bobsleigh is in an area off limits to guests.
I absolutely loved the Haunted house, went there in 93 for the first time and probably went in there 3 or 4 times. My dad hated it as it was boring for him lol. I was fascinated by the little girl hologram in the dolls house. my 10 year old brain had no idea how they did it.
@@CoasterConnections I’ve not been to Alton Towers for years, but my dad was somebody who did some building work there so I went lots of times when I was a kid . I remember when there was just basically a bit of a funfair in the grounds near the main building. the cable car was there but not like it is Today
Pre-Merlin it was a much better park with better thought out & better all round attractions. There is nothing left that would attract me, save for Nemesis. I’m not paying admission and travelling for one ride.
