That thumbnail definitely worried me… I’m all seriousness, I think Mystic Timbers is THE roller coaster that I see get called overrated the most often. I was pleasantly surprised when the ride blew me away and became one of my favorite roller coasters ever.
Maybe it's because I went into my first ride with low expectations as more of a "family friendly" ride due to the smaller size and layout, but I also was blown away and loved it. It didn't give you a chance for a breath the whole ride, but keeps the intensity going. I don't need airtime to have a good coaster (which seems to be where most fault MT) and honestly don't understand the hate. I think when it came out people wanted it to do/be something especially unique (drop track in the shed, endless airtime) and were disappointed it didn't check the boxes of their hopes. But I don't think any of that should take away from what the ride does, and does very well.
First of , I have to say that I love all of your videos , especially rankings! I really agree that the layout of slc's are quite good and look a bit better then Hals über Kopf's layout. In addition I wanted to asked for an updated version of your favourite flatrides after you've been to Europe.
I think Shockwave is a great coaster mainly for the airtime. When I got on the off the ride it blew me away with its weird airtime that i never experienced before. I thin kNew Tex’s Gina is still number 1 in the park but Shockwave is a very close second.
Im so glad im not the only thoosie who doesnt understand why Mystic Timbers is ranked so highly by others. Its a great ride but it really doesnt hit like the others have for me.
This is kinda a weird one, because its my number 1, but I think I305 is overrated in its intensity department. While the turns were very forceful, the forces were applied super gradually, and it was disappointing to not see those back breaking, very abrupt positive gs similar to what you get on the pullout to Wicked's first drop at Lagoon, or the entry into Viper's second loop at sfmm. I was however, blown away by how much airtime it had, and I think it is crazy underrated in that department, which is why its my number 1.
The first turn is super sustained, but yeah it is applied gradually. The positives are probably my least favorite aspect of I305. The airtime is awesome.
I live in Orlando and go to both Fun Spots all the time. White Lightning is currently way smoother than Mine Blower. I find White Lightning to be a joy to ride while Mine Blower is absolute torture after the inversion. There are a couple of downright violent potholes on it. White Lightning, however, is one of my favorite coasters in Florida. Of course, it is the only decent woodie in the state. (Coastersaurus at Legoland is the worst of them all). And I'm just going to ignore the fact you put Mystic Timbers on thIs list. LOL It's easily in my top ten.
Twisted Cyclone is definitely my least favorite RMC hybrid, though I never thought about it as overrated all that much. That said, as long as it’s overall preferred to Joker and New Texas Giant, it’s overrated.
I think Hals Uber Kopf is supposed to be oriented more to families and it is the prototype so I think that’s why you were disappointed as you went in expecting a B&M invert but it isn’t
Only one I’ve done here is mystic, and I pretty much had the same experience. Liked it, but didn’t understand why people rank it as a top tier GCI. The worst part was that i didn’t even know why like you said lol.
Completely agree on Mystic Timbers. It is my #4 GCI, it is a fun ride and very re-ridable. However, I think Gold Striker is easily better than Mystic at least. Apocalypse and InvadR are the 2 others I have above Mystic as well. All 3 of those have an intense, out of control feeling that Mystic just doesn't give as much of. Don't get me wrong, I gladly marathon Mystic, but there are other GCIs that I think are much better rides. But as always, it's all up to personal preference.
You def need a reride of white lightning. I love it. Was not rough in the slightest (2023). Was fast and threw you out of your seat. Didn’t have expectations going in so we were BLOWN away for what it is. Mine blower was 0/10 at the time for me.
Yeah, Mystic Timbers is a very short ride. Fortunately, unlike Thorpe Park, Kings Island has longer rides like Diamondback and the Beast to compensate. Hopefully Ghost Train will be a good, long ride.
I liked Timber Terror better when it was called Zeus at Mt. Olympus. Also, can't wait for the next episode in this series where it's just every coaster at SFGAm 😂
The one from 1914 looks way better than leap the dips, the leap the dips is the oldest, rollercoaster in Altoona PA, Lakemont park and still stands today

WHAT! 😂😂 Everyone to their own opinion but I absolutely love Space Mountain at Disney World. It's in my top 10 out of 159 credits. For some reason I find it really really fun but if you ask me to explain why, I can't give you a very good reason. It's just fun!

I definitely agree with you on TwiCy and Mystic. I’m not the biggest GCI fan in general, but I think if Gold Striker and Mystic swapped parks, you’d hear a LOT more Goldie praise from the Ohio fanboi crowd. However I did really enjoy White Lightning last year, and found it to be the best woodie in Florida (not that there’s much competition). I even prefer it to Apocalypse, which I find to be one of the weakest GCIs, the only one below it being Invadr of the 9 that I’ve ridden. I think you definitely owe Shock Wave another ride or two. It’s certainly not the best in the park but it’s a much better ride than it should be. I have it third, behind NTG and the goat Premier Mr. Freeze.

White lightning got a wood re-track a short bit before I rode it about a month ago and it is about as smooth as a wood coaster can get but I feel like it needs another 5 or so feet worth of speed for the profiling of it's airtime hills to consistently give good airtime, in the evening with a full train it runs good, but earlier in the day before the park gets busy it runs a bit slow.
Its a nice coaster i'll be back there next week just done it when it was just opened and the station wasn't finished then the trains looked great hope its a bit better now that everything is finished. I have to say i really liked the coaster but its not really a monster its a nice more family oriented thrill coaster. All if the new Vekoma's i've ridden are like that except for lech coaster (bermuda blitz model). Thoroughly enjoyable but nothing really special (well FLY might be exceptional in its type but its not realy intens). Good for a top tier coaster in a more family oriented park or just the second tier coasters after the headliners in Coaster parks. Don't get me wrong they are deffently not filler coasters they are just to good for that.
I came off Mystic Timbers similar to you. Liked it but wasn't loving it. I have it's smaller older brother Prowler ahead of it and I think for a few reason. Like you said, the lack of wooden bite made the element feel samey. Like the pops of airtime felt maybe almost forced instead of an out of control feel. And then the setting. Like it's a good setting... But, it's like the trees are too far away from the track to give it an amazing setting. If they were a little closer, then the feeling of whizzing by them would be stronger. Like with Prowler. But that's my two cents.

I fell in love with mindbender growing up. Really miss the old rusty look, and the layout with the old trains and the lap bars. First looping coaster I ever rode without over shoulder restraints. Haven't ridden with B&M trains. Hope it's not too different.
@@huntzzio It held it's own against even the newer rides as one of the best in the park. The old rusty look made it feel a little dangerous, which made it even more thrilling. Sorry you missed out on it.
I never got a chance to ride it before the refurbishment but it does have the title as the first Schwarzkopf coaster I'd ever ridden. I thought it was a lot of fun during my spring break trip to SFOG in April 2022 (I actually preferred it to Goliath...more on that later). However, once I rode Shockwave at SFO in Sept 2022, I realized that it is far superior to Riddler Mindbender. If Mindbender once upon a time ran like Shockwave, it probably would be the better ride (mainly because of the intense sideways 'loop' mid ride) considering the airtime and positives during the two loops would be better. I rode Riddler Mindbender again in Dec 2022 and while it was still fun, I realized that it wasn't as good as Goliath.... actually Goliath was a much better ride. Frankly I'm not sure if Goliath was running poorly in April 2022 when I went but it didn't seem to deliver very good airtime and the first drop seemed shallow. However, during my Dec trip it was amazing! It has loads of airtime and it was just hurling trains over that first drop. I can safely say that Goliath is the best coaster at SFOG and that while it's still a good ride, Riddler Mindbender is a little overrated.
Top 10 water coasters? I know the ones at Chimelong are probably the best but it would be interesting to see your ranking. Also Riddler mindbender is different from what happened to Lightning Rod in my opinion. I feel as if Lightning Rod got a lot smoother and only got a little bit slower but is still a great roller coaster so I have no issues really with the change.
Interesting video idea! Not sure if i’ve ridden enough to justify a ranking though. I have to disagree with your point about Lightning Rod. It’s the most disappointing roller coaster i’ve ever been on and i’d like to believe that has everything to do with the slowed launch speed.
For me, I think a lot of enthusiasts overestimate Raging Bull Its good, don't get me wrong But its not chalk full of floater like Diamondback or other hypers
I haven't done Troy in 2022 so that could be it but it still is my number 2 woody in Europe after wildfire. But its ussually a toss up with Wodan depending on what you like. Troy defintly is a bit rougher than Wodan so i can understand that if it had a bad seizone it might have become a bit to rough. As for hals uber kopf yup its just a nice middle of the road not to intens coaster a good one for a more thrilling ride in a family oriented park i do prefer a really good SLC myself to. I had seen a revieuw just before i went on it that it lacked force so for me it was actually better then i expected.
Mystic timbers was so close to being my favorite GCI wooden coaster. The only GCI that beat Mystic Timbers is obviously Gold striker because I actually enjoyed the shakiness.
Mystic is another one of those coasters that you need to ride at night to get the full experience. But it’s at Kings Island so I’m sure you have. It’s common knowledge that everything is better there at night.
Kings Island is one of the best parks out there at nighttime. Obviously, we all talk about the night rides on Beast, but Mystic Timbers, Orion, and Diamondback are all terrific as well 🙌🏻
Mystic feels like its missing the out of control feeling other wooden coasters have, it is the only coaster I have rode I want to be rougher, But I still love the ride because of its pacing and airtime, I do think it is the best in the park.
Mystic Timbers is not even remotely close to deserving of the praise it has. I’ve seen people compare it to voyage and outlaw run which makes me scratch my head. As someone who has KI as their home park, mystic is a strong #5 in the park behind the beast and the three monster b&ms
I don't get why Yukon is overrated not sure what you expected but I rode it at the pass holder event loved it then and still love it it's the best dive coaster I've been on now I've only riden 3 valraven and griffin but it's the best because it does so much more than just a great drop
Only one I disagree with is Riddler/Mindbender. SFOF is my home park & I have probably ridden it 50 times and I might have gotten one bad ride out of all of those, it’s a sneaky top 5 coaster in the park

Well Hals über Kopf is not that intense. It's not that long. But I was there on the Press Day and had the chance to talk to the Owners of Tripsdrill. Hals über Kopf and Volldampf was the best things that they could get for the Money that they wanted to spend. I mean Tripsdrill isn't even getting 1 Million People to visit per year. I think for this Park it's the perfect fit
These kind of lists are always fodder for arguments because calling something "overrated" is essentially saying that you disagree with people who you feel like something too much. And of course, everyone thinks they like things just the right amount. Don't get me wrong, I understand the idea and I have no criticisms here but I just recognize why people become feisty in response. I personally think The Voyage in the single most overrated coaster but then Lightning Rod is my overall number one coaster and I think Storm Chaser, Mystic Timbers and Shockwave are all underrated. So I'm sure we'd have some interesting back and forth conversations.
Wodan is so much better than Troy. Troy reminds me of Thunderhead, mediocre at best. Mystic Timbers however is my second favourite GCI after GoldStriker, so I love that thing. As for Taron and thrill, thrilling doesn't mean it's going to have crazy forces. You can sit in a chair with gravity being the only forces on you and watch a thriller movie and be thrilled. I'll let you try and debunk my theory. Hals Uberkopf doesn't pull strong forces, but I still found it the best coaster at Tripsdrill. White Lightning is much better than Heide in my opinion, however I always ride it at night and Heide was in the day. If you asked me in 2018 i'd have preferred Mine Blower, but now White Lightning is a much better experience. Great video though. I love a good stir, so Lightning Rod and Ride To Happiness are my two most overrated rides, followed by DC Rivals in third place.

Back in the last 70's it was rated to be great back then! Of course today not even close! Now? Don't be afraid of what you'll get once you get into the shed? I guess I might get it on the next time I'm at Kings Island? But riding this thing, 'at nighttime,' before/after the best keeps shaking going for me! Shed? Like I said! Agree about Mystic Timbers. It's an awesome wooden coaster but the fact that people put it over Orion and Diamondback is just insanity to me. I even prefer The Beast and Banshee over it
Having put it at number 1 on this list, I still would rank Mystic Timbers far higher than Diamondback and Banshee. Agree about Orion and can understand the Beast though.
But did you ride Mystic Timbers in the back row, right seat? It’s a TOTALLY different ride in the back right. The most intense wooden coaster I’ve ever ridden back there the laterals on the first drop are insane. The front row is tame and boring in comparison.
I love Mystic Timbers overall, but the ending leaves a lot to be desired. It’s hard to ride an excellent ride and then just sit on a reasonably themed but overhyped holding area at the end. For a ride as enjoyable as it was overall, it was easy to get off and be bored since the shed was… boring. I still rank it high for overall experience, uniqueness, and re-rideability, but I can see why it’s #1 on this list.
Personally, I don’t see this as a valid complaint. the shed shouldn’t have been hyped up and teased the way it was, but it is a brilliant idea for those waiting for the next train to dispatch. the alternative would be sitting on track looking at literally nothing while you wait. as much as I found the ride to be overrated, the shed gets a big thumbs up from me.
I'm not a huge fan of the shed....I personally find sitting on a brake run watching other trains dispatch more entertaining than computerized creatures coming to devour you. My dad always jokes that Kings Island had one coaster with an ending that sucked (Adventure Express second lift back to the station) and that the park wanted to improve guest satisfaction with the end of Adventure Express so they decided to build a new coaster with an even worse ending - introducing Mystic Timbers. He said at least with adventure Express the train is still moving!
I gotta say, these are one of the most overrated roller coasters you ever ridden. My most overrated roller coaster is El Toro, (now please don't get mad at me just because I dislike El Toro, it's just my opinion.) because the hills are too steep and too rough. I remembered I got a headache on that ride when I first visited the park in 2017. And honestly, it was even that fun at all.
Wodan is a great ride. It runs way faster in real life than it does in the POVs. You pick up a ton of speed in the pre-drop, and then there are strong laterals followed by good airtime down the main drop where you pick up a ton of speed. It was my second wooden coaster. My first woodie was Wickerman at Alton Towers, which is a great family coaster, but Wodan is much more thrilling. I preferred Blue Fire for comfort reasons, but Wodan was probably my second favourite rollercoaster at Europa-Park. Silver Star has great airtime and is definitely worth riding, but it didn't have much variety the day I went and the twister section at the end was pretty lame. However, I rode it early in the morning so it was running slower than usual. And I still got great airtime. Europa-Park generally has shorter queues than most other parks, because of how many rides they have and their fast operations. It is the best park I've ever been to. Also, make sure to ride Volitarium, but not first thing in the morning. It's right next to the entrance, and the queues will die down later in the day. Pirates in Batavia is a great boat ride. Not much of a story, but very atmospheric and very short queues. Euro-Mir is a great way to end the day because of the impressive views. It's a little uncomfortable, but that adds to the charm. Poseidon is quite uncomfortable; probably the least comfortable ride I rode that day. However, it's still quite fun. And that's everything I rode. If you want to experience more of the park, definitely stay for multiple days. There's so much to do.
Ok I'm going to make you cringe, Shockwave at Six Flags Over TX is THE BEST COASTER in the park. I did a marathon on it in Sept of 2022 and it was simply everything you could want from an older looping rollercoaster - great positive Gs and great negative Gs/airtime. I will give you it's not a long ride but neither is Mr Freeze which some people would rank as the best coaster in the park. Having said that Mystic Timbers is so Overrated in my opinion but I'm just not a GCI guy because frankly all their coasters are overrated to me. Orion is also overrated to me. It gets some undeserved hate but the wave turn at the top of the second hill does absolutely nothing and the helix "orion's belt" section near the end is completely pointless as well. Sure it has a great first drop but Diamondback in the back row delivers a much better complete ride experience with no dead spots in my opinion.
Funny enough I would say The Beast and Diamondback have to be the two most overrated rides I've been on and they are both also a Kings Island. I love Mystic Timbers as it is one of the most re-rideable coasters I've ever been on, and I also respect Orion for that amazing first drop and a few other amazing elements. That said Diamondback just feels like a run of the mill B&M Hyper with below average airtime for the model, enough for me to skip it entirely on a visit if the line is long (much rather just wait for Orion and Mystic Again), and the Beast is the kind of ride I get off of and need to drink water and take a half hour rest due to the whiplash.
Kind of a agree with Mystic Timbers. Tbh I really like the layout, speed and airtime but for me it’s those damn lap bars. They are so heavy and come down so easily. If I don’t hold it up (which is a pain to do) then I’m stapled right after the first drop. Maybe even during the pre lift. Those trains are comfortable but the lap bars are very finicky! I still love the ride tho!
I agree, GCI restraints are a bit obnoxious. I much prefer those by the Gravity Group. Even PTC does the lap bar thing better in my opinion. The saving grace is at least Millennium Flyers are very comfy and cozy.
I’m so glad to see Mystic Timbers on the list. I don’t get the hype for it at all. It’s always been a major letdown for me. I honestly enjoy it less and less each time I ride it because it never has delivered the airtime everyone says it had, even when holding up the lap bar in the front and back. I’ve always gotten off extremely frustrated and severely disappointed every time, and I think Prowler should be the GCI that everyone should hype up, not Mystic Timbers
Orion is so overrated to me it’s so short and has nothing exciting on it when I ride it I just am happy to get to the brake run ti go to mystic Timbers and diamondback Orion sucks
I loved Orion. Personally, seeing people critique it so much better hand creates lower expectations, which i’d like to believe is part of the reason I liked it so much.
