When I move by myself I'm going to get some of frozen foods from the Dollar Tree. Being on my own I don't need a big bag of frozen veggies, plus they're better than the fresh veggies that are sold in the grocery stores around me. But I will look on the package before buying any, because if they're from China I'm not getting them.

Our Dollar Trees do not have refrigerated, frozen or fresh foods. I wish.

Just wanted to encourage you, if you require insulin, Walmart sells vials of insulin for $25 I’m a T1 as well, and trust me, there isn’t a “healthy” version of diabetes, I am 53 and it’s an actual miracle that I’m still alive. Please seek other medical programs, there are many out there that work with you, because if your doctor has lead you to believe that you are a “healthy” type of diabetic because you don’t have several co-morbidities, he/she is literal a frikkin fraud, and should be reported. Doctors are sworn to do no harm. Not finding resources for you, and BS’ing you about an illness that doesn’t want to kill you at one time, no, it wants you piece by piece, bit by bit. Eye sight, kidneys, cardiovascular damage, stroke, loss of toes, feet, legs, fingers. I’m so outraged right now that I’m shaking. T1 isn’t just about high blood glucose levels, it’s also about the body’s inability to regulate. You can easily die from low blood glucose. Hyperglycemia will cause coma and organ damage, and serious brain injury. Think about it like this: you know what a sugar molecule looks like under a microscope, crystals. Now imagine each blood cell is sparkling with crystals. Those same blood cells travel thru out your body. The sugar is gouging it’s way around your veins, capillaries, arteries, kidneys, liver, lungs, eyes, skin, it’s everywhere. Insulin helps the glucose get into the muscles so it can be used as energy. Insulin is like a key, that unlocks the cells to get the glucose in the right place to be used. Please look here on RU-vid for good information about diabetes. A good resource is Dr. Berg. We have been lied to by the FDA, and American diabetes association, because they are primarily funded by the pharmaceutical companies. Following a lower carb way of eating is essential in preserving health, because the damage from diabetes probably won’t be super evident in your 20’s, but the truth is, when you begin showing symptoms, you have been enduring the damage so long that it’s manifested symptoms that may be irreversible. I am praying for you, and if you need any help finding health care, I might be able to help you, I sure would do my best looking and researching!

@@deanlol Look harder. Lots of basic, whole food options. I have a friend who eats keto (so no processed foods) for health reasons. She lost her job and was thinking she’d have to resort to eating inexpensive pasta and rice dishes and canned or boxed processed things. I suggested we check out the Dollar Tree and she was amazed! Now, you have to know your ALDI pricing because a very few things can be less expensive there (eggs, for example, at that time were less at ALDI) but she was amazed to find that she could eat healthily and stay on keto while on unemployment. Eggs, milk, butter, cream cheese, coconut oil, mayo, cheese in blocks and shredded (yeah there’s a tiny bit of starch in shredded cheese), cottage cheese and even ricotta sometimes, veggies - a few fresh, but mostly frozen or canned, canned tuna and chicken and salmon and salad shrimp, frozen shrimp (both cooked and raw) and other fishes , frozen chicken tenders, even the steak which she cut up into strips and stir fried with frozen veggies and soy sauce (from DT, too, and a small concession since it’s not strictly keto). Packaged pepperoni, jerky and beef sticks for on the go snacks, dill pickles, olives, canned green chiles, salsa, etc. She even managed to score some nuts! She found a job but still shops at DT for some goods, because why wouldn’t she? I actually started taking my own advice and shopped there for some things as well! You might even find some brands that you like better than what you’re used to - they’re often regional brands that you’re simply not familiar with.

Yeah I worked at dollar tree and mine was weird out store flat out did NOT accept coupons and we had to turn away many angry customers (each manager can decide I suppose because another store 15 minutes away accepted them all)

not too many things at DT are marked down to 25 cents. depends on the store location. lotta janky things marked down to 75 cents. i found a cardboard packaging with nothing attached to it marked at 75 cents lol in one DT, and in that same clearance box a half full dish detergent bottle for 75 cents. if a marking looks like a 2 but probably was a 7, ask the cashier if it looks like 25 cents or 75 cents. the cashier knows that they probably won't get rid of it if it's the higher amount. be willing to leave it behind if it's higher and you might get it for the lower price.. since the clearance items are marked in pen. i haven't seen any clearance items for a penny though

@@utubestalker.dotcom I saw it all the time. But I'll let you in on a little secret. The employees take all those items for themselves usually, and managment is fine with it. When the truck came in, we were even allowed to take the better brands of items like Old Spice body wash for ourselves, and stock the shitty arm and hammer, and other crappy brands on the shelves. 😂

Pantry staples aren't always cheaper there. For example, dried red beans at Dollar Tree is 12oz whereas at Walmart you get 16oz for $1.18. It makes them slightly cheaper at Walmart. This is where it's good to know the quantity you get so you can compare prices

I agree Denise MaGee..I worked Wal-mart shy of 8 years in all departments...another example of paying close attention to quantity is like I remember when i was in bakery and Wal-mart brand mini donut variety pack...(chocolate/coconut/powdered) You use to get a 12 pk and they cut it down to a 9 pk for the same price..be aware of settle changes...your getting less for your hard earned dollar!

packing supplies can be found cheaper at U-line, and or on eBay if you look than paying 1.00 for a box, or a dollar for 6 manila envelopes. lol even staples is cheaper for the manila envelopes. I pay .08-.16 per envelope, and .35-.45 per box depending on the size.

@@MS-lg4yr I found the sheet protectors cheap quality and expensive than the ones at Walgreens during back to school sales. They have the 10 pack heavy duty or 50 pack regular, and price for price, sheet for sheet, you get more bang for your bucks. I just buy the whole box stocking up. Only buy when on sale though, usually only during back to school. I noticed same thing with the Temptations cat treats. Get the bigger package and it actually gets you more bang for your bucks. Some things are worth it, others are not.

Sometimes the frozen fruit isn’t ripe enough or the peppers taste off but other than that I’ve had no issues.

you are absolutely right ... you do need to use a bit of common sense ... there are some items that arent worth a dollar ... but if you are an experienced shopper ... or just ask yourself every time you pick up an item ... do I really need this or am I getting sucked in to spree shopping ... then you can find awesome deals and save a boatload of $$s

Sometimes you have to keep looking to find a good one. I live in a big Midwestern city, and our Dollar Trees suck. The one closest to me is usually under-stocked, so you go there to buy a specific item, and it's not there. However, there is a fantastic, clean, well-stocked Dollar Tree in a rural town 25 miles away from my house. I find that it's worth the drive.

I found K Cup style coffee pods at mine at 4 for $1 and they are pretty good. Compared to even Great Value brand pods at $4 for 12 Dollar Tree is a much better value.

Costco has a sale on Folgers once a year...usually in the summer..$7.99 for double the quantity as Fred Myers $9.99 for a small container. I stock up..It is limit 5, so for that sale every time I go in I pick up 5. I use the reusable k-pods and fill them w/folgers. My whole family is coffee addicts...LOL

My Dad turned me on to the Vanilla and Hazelnut coffee at DT. I was so surprised at how good it tastes!

​@@utubestalker.dotcom They come and go... when they come in, eBay and Amazon sellers tend to find them and snatch them up if they are any good to sell. When they are in they are usually in the electronics section (around the earbuds/micro cords) on a bottom shelf. PS the earbuds break within 48 hours and are horrible... the cords micro and C work fairly well as charging cables on all but the more expensive android phones.
