Just to let you know, 10 year old missing kayaker Sage Adams, featured in Volume 29, was recovered deceased from the Skagit River on Sunday, September 13, 2020. He had been lost for a little over 2 months, and was found by fishermen near Rockport, WA, the next town downriver from Marblemount. Very, very sad ending, but thankfully he was found and his family is able to have at least the peace of knowing where he is, and not forever wonder. Rest in Peace Sage.
Journeystomake Alkebulan Definitely. Sometimes two people will be hiking and the leader will look back and the other person is gone. No noises made no shouts for help just gone.
Okay, this issue of people setting out to hike together and then becoming separated is driving me crazy. If they commit to a joint hike, they should maintain and complete a joint hike! Yes, I’m sure they think they are experienced hikers, but if they bothered to watch some of these great videos, they might stick together and maybe save a life.
That’s easy to say but when it’s 1pm on a beautiful day and u wanna walk by the lake and ur friend wants to see some higher elevations it seems very harmless. When everything has gone on just fine, u hardly think twice about splitting up for a couple of hours. Especially if you’ve been together every second for the last few days.
@@derekfrey3671 that should never be done at big National parks, I can understand small trails but why split up in let’s say Yosemite or Zion? Not smart at all
I’m guilty of stopping for lunch and letting my hiking partner go ahead for an extra few miles before turning back to meet me and finish the hike. After he was late one time i said never again!
Some people are in positions that, if they didn't hike/off road alone, they'd never get to...Being well prepared is ALWAYS the answer, and just knowing that things can happen with 20 people around (they have) or no one else around...Living your life in fear is a stupid waste of life...
Unknown Author I agree you have to be careful when stepping off trail. I always carry an sos capable gps when hiking but I really don’t want to have to use it. My general rule is to never leave the trail without a compass. If I go a long way I will try to regularly check bearings back the way I came. Its also good to turn around every 20 paces or so just to get a look at the sight picture you should have if you are trying to get back. Glad everything worked out for you.
@Tim King hi Tim King yes you say I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream and I say I scream you scream and the police show up and it gets awkward we've all been to them party's that... I love going into the wilderness by myself and have for decades. I disappeared once in the Utah desert for 2 weeks where I never saw another human being!
I don't get these often so yes i had to watch it twice. Rusty, Thank you very much, I really look forward to seeing these. I'll most likely watch it again. As long as you keep making these, I'll be right here watching them and giving them a thumbs up. Thank you for your time Rusty.

Saeed Emani's disappearance haunts me. My oldest has T1 diabetes. No matter how healthy a diabetic is at the time he/she goes missing, they cannot stay healthy without insulin for very long. 💔
@Memeo Alcea It takes very little time for high blood sugar to kill. It is as toxic as any poison and causes the body to consume itself since it can't consume anything else and starves. Look up diabetic ketoacidosis. That's what happens without insulin.
As a T1 myself, it would take longer to die from high blood sugar than from taking insulin with no food. I know from personal experience, I couldn't afford my insulin and I survived for a year, barely. But then I had my first heart attack at age 40. So yes, it affects you badly but won't kill you right away. Even though your liver produces sugar, its not enough to counter act your shots. You still need to intake some sort of carbs and fiber. No guarantees of that being lost in the woods......and yes, I've been trained for outdoor survival as I'm a Montana native who spends most of her time out camping, fishing and hunting. Couldn't afford to take the chance of diabetes getting in my way of life and my kids
@@kelliparker3107 I'm sorry you had to go through that. It's so brutal on the body. I hope you never have trouble getting insulin again! The time it takes for a person to develop ketoacidosis is different for each individual, which seems very strange to me. But the damage it does is permanent. But I know you know this. I wish you well!
Right! And she had injuries. I got sooo many questions. What happen? Was she attacked? Where was she headed barefoot? Why she didn't want help? It's weird... they said her car was crashed... Maybe that explains her injury. Idk but it don't sit right with me.
Yeah, I would have called for help even if she said she didn't need it. She had a facial injury, which means she could have had a concussion. Her judgement may not have been 100%. Just make the call.
Yep, something fishy about that. They know more about what happened to her than what they are letting on. No decent human being would have let her continue on by herself in the state she was in.
@@Tlyna1952 after watching Steve from howtohunt.com i feel better about going into the woods by myself but still stick to doing it on a weekend when there are more people

Ya. But half are old. It’s definitely weird. But several reasons are to blame. People do dumb shit. I almost fell off a cliff 3-4 weeks ago Half way up to mineral king. We are dumb and make dumb mistakes.
Also it’s easy to get rid of a body. Bugs animals and weather take care of that. But I definitely believe in weird shit. The night after I nearly fell, a weird local at a hippy art studio I had never met before told me to go up the eagle lake to fish. So I did. Half through the hike I had a weird gut feeling to turn back and I did. Not sure but maybe I would of been on this show
@@funbomb1102 people doing dumb stuff are found 99 percent of the time. There is nothing found of these folks. Same with people who are old. They don't wonder far... the search parties start well before body decomposition
That's always made me wonder.. eérie...ie the reason for the unusual name...how did it get it.... David paulides mentions this frequently.... i wonder if there's a connection and a reason the natives gave the areas these names... would never go there alone after dark

I hope that all the relatives of these missing people eventually find out what happened to their loved ones. God bless them all and their loved ones who are missing. My heart is so sad for them. I wish people would take personal locator beacons with them and stick together. Please be careful when you go into the woods. Who knows what lurks there? Take care, Rusty.
Welcome back Rusty it has been too long. What I do not understand is many who get lost just keep on going and they are never to be found, why don't they stay put? The scary thing is the area that they may be in could be predators out there and many are not animals they are human. Human trafficking may play a part along with a serial killrs. It is just my take on this, be safe and blessings
Very easy to panic when lost. Your mind starts racing and it is hard to keep under control. Your adrenaline kicks in and then you lose all your energy. It takes experience to remain in control and think through the situation. Even then, many with experience are never found. Some might run into foul play but I believe most perish and then the remains are scattered. Either way it is very sad.
@@canamrider07 yes. I experienced it myself. Luckily, made it home. Then i googled panic and being lost and read about Marine training..its the first thing they teach: not to panic. Have a plan and map always. Compass etc.

@@trossk It just said they found his life vest. But if the vest was on him properly and was the correct size for his body then it wouldn't come off. So either the vest was not on him properly, not the right size for his body, or he wasn't wearing it at all. Either way, it's still negligence for the parent not to have a child in a vest and to have the vest be the correct size and on correctly. Kinda like a car seat.

@@peach8407 hey that's good clarification. My condolences to you and his family and friends. This is a particularly gut punching case, with his being such a young child and the lack of clues or closure. Is there anything left out of the video we just watched? It seems bizzare that if a 10 year old she reach shore that no one would have seen or heard from him. Thank you.
Its really weird for someone to get lost while hiking in Sedona. All the trails are very well marked and civilization is almost always within sight no matter where you go on trails in Sedona.
Statically, most people who get lost in the woods get lost less than a mile from the trail, their car, parking lot, and other "civilization". Everyone needs to have a mental map of where things are so if they get lost they can head in the right direction. For example, if you knew there was a Highway east of the trail you were on then head east.
Thanks rusty, I can appreciate just how much work goes into something like this with the editing, pictures, voice recording...researching. Great work mate!
Rusty thank you for the research and work you put in to each video. Praying for all those missing and their families. Background music was perfect. You had it right all along.
Khayman Welch was not an avid hiker. For some reason the media said he was, but after speaking to family members it was found that this information was inaccurate. Also, he went missing around 7:20pm on August 12th not the 5th. Other than that, thank you so much for adding Khayman Welch to your video. His family needs all the eyes they can get on his disappearance.
Missed U Rusty. It's a good reminder to always be aware Of your surroundings and Let people know When U head out To the Outdoors. Especially Remote Areas.
That's so hard to believe folks are coming up missing in these days and modern times. You would think with all the red radar equipment on planes you would pick up sight on those folks. I've decided that my days going to National parks are done its just not worth the risk of getting lost or worst. As always Rusty West thank you for these great videos. Keep up the good and informing work.
I'm just trying to figure out why people think it's a good idea to split and hike alone on a completely different trail than their friend or friends they came with? Didn't they want to hike the trail together? The man with his dog for instance Todd. Did his friend ever give the why of it? Did they search the other side of the mountain where they found the poor dog at. Very strange indeed. 🤔 The man and his son broke my heart. The part that got me though was that they found the kyak and the boys life vest? I'm assuming he was wearing it, so how did it come off him? That fact does not sit well with me for some reason. Thank you Rusty for another awesome video and for bringing attention to these disappearances. It might just help save a life of two. 😉 Update: I decided to try and find our more about Todd Hofflender and the reason why he and his friend split up. They were looking for signs of mule deer as they were avid hunters. So they split up to cover more area. On April 26th 2020 a hunter called the Idaho county sheriff's office to report finding a skull above Bernard Creek. They had to travel by jet boat and then hiked in about a mile to where they discovered a partial skull and other skeletal remains. They also found a pack with a digital camera in it and other items that point to the remains being Todd's. A sad ending to his story but his family now knows and start to heal from their loss. It's strange how they didn't find him ten years ago when you would think that it might be easier to? Rip Todd. Update: #2 I looked up Idyllwild as Rusty suggested and 2 out of the 6 missing people have been found alive and well it seems. The two women, Venessa Vlasek and Jade Kemerer were both located recently. Jade Kemerer, who went missing in July in the Idyllwild area, has been found alive and safe in Anaheim, she was living I Ca for the last few years and was going to be driving home to Ohio after she had repairs done to her car. Well the car broke down on her before she could get it fixed and she has no phone but finally was tracked down by her friend. Venessa, well she's okay but that is all the detail I could find. The others are still missing. Unfortunately in Rosarios case she was suffering from the symptoms of dementia and recently had and episode where she became disoriented and lost trying to find her room at a hotel her and her husband waying staying at. Her daughter found her wandering the parking deck crying. As she was supposed to have been possibly going to visit with a fami!y the day she disappeared one can only hope and pray she didn't wander into the wilderness.

I do not understand why the park service will not make it a mandatory rule for hikers to wear gps beacon equipment. I highly recommend it to everyone and it’s very strange why the hikers themselves don’t use it.
Always love to see a new video from you on this! As a lifelong outdoor person I cannot stress enough that people must learn to follow the rules if they’re going in the woods and get lost.. it’s actually surprisingly EASY to get turned around and then if you don’t calm down and follow the rules all you do is make it much much worse... too many people overestimate their skills and don’t research what they are supposed to do in those situations.. the minute they think they can fix it themselves while they are low key in a panic, they are going to get more off course.. it breaks my heart to hear these stories, but they must serve as a strong warning and lesson to anyone who is going out into the wilderness.. and to those who just cant possibly imagine how they are “never found”..? .. it’s easy to get lost and unless the search teams are walking within feet of each other in a line, it’s incredibly EASY to hide a body from sight.. if there’s a tree hollow or a dip in the ground, where an exhausted person would gravitate to to rest or get out of the elements, someone could walk within feet of them and not see them.. nevermind rock crevices etc.. it’s really really important to follow the rules .. #1, always always always carry basic equipment with you, even if you only think you’re going for an hour.. and know how to use it.. #2, make sure you leave information somewhere somehow about where you are going And #3.. learn what you’re supposed to do if you get turned around, before you make it worse AND learn some tricks on how to NOT get turned around if you leave the trail for some insane reason.. It’s common sense.. it’s sad that so many people disappear.. and it’s definitely not supernatural, sorry.. I’m an open minded believer in many things, but in this scenario, I’ve had too much experience to know better.. there’s no aliens or Bigfoot involved here.. just humans making mistakes, thinking they can fix it and panicking.. So sad.. always breaks my heart, especially for the people who are missing them.. 💕
Ruth Thinking, Outside. This is so true about the equipment. Nature is totally unforgiving. My fathers advice on equipment needed....he slogged through the hell of Korea... “ All you need is a Zippo lighter, a canteen and snake charmer. Be back at dark. 1 was 12. Thanks dad!
Sorry, I have seen these beings whilst living in the forest. Clothing, blood, fauna get sprayed around. Water flushes bones and bodies out. Please read david paulides. Books in library. RU-vid channel.....
I’ve read and listened to David paulides and the many many many videos about the missing 411 series.. in all genuine honesty, how many people who chime in on some “mysterious circumstances” or whatever theory are people who ACTUALLY spend time out in the woods. And I don’t mean a bike path or a little park.. I mean pack a bag and go out into actual forest where the nearest “people” are miles away and stay out there for days? The primary reason so many people get lost in these absolutely enormous parks is because it’s remarkably easy to get turned around just a bit and then they make it worse. Far too many people are over confident in their own skills and don’t take every precaution. I’m not suggesting that there’s NEVER a “bizarre circumstance” and that the occasional disappearance doesn’t have mitigating factors but the nastiest thing you can encounter in the woods is a evil human, not an alien.. I DO go out into the ‘real woods’ and I have since childhood. As such, I HAVE gotten lost as a child and I have gotten turned around as an adult. Those personal experiences taught me that it’s easy to over estimate your skills and it’s easier to get turned around than you’d think. So as someone who personally was “right ahead of us on the trail, and when we turned the corner she was gone” I THINK I have a bit of insight on some of these stories. People can “believe” in whatever they like. I’m simply speaking from my own perspective that involves personal EXPERIENCE and the fact that I have been spending extensive amounts of time in the woods, frequently alone, for over 30 years.. and from that experience, from research and from discussions with other outdoor people, my initial comment is the primary reality and if people follow the rules they are far far less likely to get lost.. again.. there’s always going to be an occasional exception but for the majority of the stories you hear about, it’s just going to boil down to the basics. Seriously, how many of these ‘lost hikers’ would have been found if they were carrying maps and compass, knew how to use them and were carrying an adequate kit of barebones?? Knew how to build a signal fire? Knew enough to mark their trail in the first place if they were dumb enough to leave the trail? You can carry in a daypack enough barebones kit to keep you alive and not be weighed down. It’s just practical.
*+Julia Law* Nor should they. They're cautionary tales, for sure however, if you are into hiking then be well prepared, including a personal locator beacon in your clothing.
Excellent presentation, Rusty. I have all of David Paulides' books and study them daily. Some day we will find out what is happening to these missing people.
Sage was murdered by his dad. I looked up the river and the whole story didnt make sense. How does the dad get thrown out of his raft and yet the 10 year old is fine and just says screw it I'm gonna leave my dad. And then they find his boat and life vest as if he took it off and took off into the forest like Tarzan
I would have swam the whole river searching. You are right doesn’t make sense. Would have followed the river or try to swim it immediately behind him if it was my son.
im from New Zealand go kayaking/rafting/tubing down rivers with friends/family all the time, to me the story isnt that strange. All it takes is hitting one rock wrong or the rapids at the wrong angle to tip your kayak exspecially if your not overally experienced. Generally if someone does you wait for then to catch up, However due to currents you cant always stop straight away, so you would wait till the next flat bit of the river and paddle over to the side and wait for them. Kayaks will always be faster then swimming even if your just floating with the currents so they isn't much point trying to swim the river you would be better off trying to get help before you get hyperthermia While it does sound like they could have been more prepared, (eg, having a plan if you get seperated; having waterproof phone; alerting someone outside the park what time you expect to arrive at the next camp so they can alert SAR or equivilent if you dont check in etc) it does seem like it could have been a tragic accident.
This is getting out of hand! Why is not the government doing something about this? Maybe when a senator's son or daughter disappears something will be done. Great video as always Rusty. Did not get a notification about this video.
Such beautiful parks to visit and rejuvenate your soul, I pray for the family's of these missing persons, that someday soon they will get answers as to what happened to there beloved family member🙏, thank you Rusty for these most recent cases, take care💚🍬

I was hoping you covered more on Dia Abrahams one of the missing women from the idylwild area. Her case really intrigues me and I try to stay updated on it.
Love your videos Rusty! I love hiking and going to national parks but I am always aware of my surroundings and stay close to my group because I know how easy it is go go missing.
Pronounced "idol-wild" and "two-larry" (Tulare, CA). Thanks for the stories. Bigfoot and orbs/flashes of light sighted up there in the San Jacinto region forever.
These missing people cases are very disturbing. Very sad. But, why are we limiting ourselves to just missing people? Here are some examples of missing objects in my life. - 1984 - Disappearing jacket. A friend loaned me an expensive jacket. I hanged it in my closet. It was gone the next day. All doors were locked. I had to pay him $50 to replace the jacket. - 1986 - Disappearing Frisbee. I was playing "Frolf" w/ a friend at Winona State University. We watched my Frisbee curve into a tree about 60 ft. away. We walked to that tree. and the frisbee was GONE. We spent 1 hr looking for that frisbee in total dibelief. It was a big, white Frisbee. No way to miss it. Small tree and easy to see thru the branches. - 2019 - Disappearing rifle. I had a 30-30 Winchester rifle in a closet. Doors are always double locked. No sign of breakin. That rifle disappeared. I do not allow anyone into my home. - March 2020 - Disappearing Holy Stone Drone. I bought a Holy Stone Drone on Amazon. It sucked, so I returned it and posted a negative comment on Amazon. Surprisingly, after I got the refund, Holy Stone sent me a free drone. I put it in my storage room and forgot about it. In August 2020, Holy Stone offered me another free 'replacement' drone. I was confused, but happy. So, I went to check on the original replacement drone. IT WAS GONE. - Sept. 2020. After realizing the Holly Stone drone was missing, I did an audit of my belongings. Two Flashlights are missing. Don't laugh. Flashlights are very important survival gear. Again, my house is ALWAYS LOCKED. No, sign of any break-in. Thousands of dollars of electronics, credit cards, and cash are UNTOUCHED. The creepiest part of these disappearances, is that I always feel that they are exactly where I last saw them. I feel them, but I cannot see or touch them. I cannot explain the feeling. I know they (rifle, drone, flashlights) are here.
I do hope what happend to these people comes to light and there whereabouts are made known. Just a thought, I don't know if they utilize drones in their searches but if not that may help especially is rugged areas and cliffs or crevasses where it would be too difficult to search it on foot or see well from a helicopter. Anyways, thank you for your video and take care.
@@christystaples2558 I am starting to think that it is no coincidence, that shortly after the worthless feds ban drones altogether, disappearances suddenly spike. I would guess they don't want people seeing what is going on in state and national forests from the sky, and the 'no motorized vehicles' thing is just a red herring or canard.
WHY so important for U.N. to own 70+% of OUR National Parks etc.?? David Paulides says most missing people aren't just from National Parks, they're from National Parks owned by U.N.!!!!
I admit I binge watch alot of these crime posts but I honestly find Rusty;s? narrating the smoothest and the easiest to retain facts over all others Not to mention the tribute at the end is the 1st Ive seen (instead of the usual straight to thanks to paying subscribers) Bravo
Snoqualmie- pronounced as Snow-Kwal-mee. So sorry for Shirley’s loss, though. As for Sage, if he slipped into the river, he was probably swept downstream or caught under a log. Rivers were running fast and strong well through the summer because of last winter’s snowpack. He was the same age as my youngest grandson, so sad.
So, so sad! How can so many people go missing in a relatively short space of time? I hope that all the loved ones find answers ♥️♥️♥️😢 Even though they are strange disappearances, thank you, Rusty, for treating all the stories with respect.
