Wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? Perhaps it’s because you’re guzzling down a bunch of coffee or jumping in a hot shower right after you wake up? Or maybe when you first open your eyes in the morning, you can’t fight the urge to see what’s new on social media? These may not be the best ways to start your morning.
Old habits die hard, that’s why we do some things without even thinking about how harmful they are - especially in the morning when we don’t have time to spare. So today, Bright Side wants to talk about ten things many of us do every morning that are actually harmful to us. You’ll learn how to make your morning and the day that follows better than they ever were before.

SUMMARY:
- Smashing that snooze button is a sure-fire way to start your day off all wrong. That’s because when you fall back asleep in between alarms, you enter into a new sleep cycle without completing it. This makes you feel even more groggy and disoriented than you did when you awoke to your first alarm.
- While this is a very common morning habit for most of us, looking at your phone right after you open your eyes can cause you to feel unnecessary stress and anxiety before you even get up to brush your teeth!
- While there isn’t anything wrong with enjoying a steaming cup o’ joe in the morning, this shouldn’t be the first thing you sip on after waking up.
- By making your bed every morning, you’re completing a healthy ritual that will carry on into your day. You’ll be more productive and motivated to tackle the day ahead!
- Opt for a protein-rich breakfast. This will keep you fuller for longer and, it’ll give you long-lasting energy to keep you productive and focused all day long!
- According to life coach Kirkland Shave, natural sunlight releases cortisol in the body, which helps you concentrate and make smart decisions throughout the day.
- Don’t do any strenuous exercising or stretching first thing in the morning, though. You can hurt yourself since your muscles and discs aren’t warmed up yet.
- Brushing your teeth after breakfast may do more harm than good. You see, if you’ve consumed something acidic like coffee or fruit, that acid thins the enamel of your teeth. So, brushing them right after can wear away that weakened enamel.
- People need time to wake up and get their bearings before they can think about important things to talk about on the phone. It’s best to wait until about 9:30am to start making phone calls.
- The cold makes your brain release feel-good endorphins and natural adrenaline. If you can’t stomach a cold shower, at least take a lukewarm one.

Not for me. My alarm was 7:00 and I would wake up from 5:30 to 6:30 accidentally. So most of the time, I don't even sleep in to my alarm, and if I did, I wouldn't feel tired at all.

I maintain all these things, and a hot shower in the morning is really irritating, I always prefer to have a cold shower, especially if it is about mornings 🥰

None will be hard but I will need to remind myself of these tips so I don’t forget any. Making sure I make my bed before leaving my room, brush my teeth right away before food, take a cool shower, drink water before my coffee, eat a healthy high protein breakfast, and make time for a gentle stretch. Sounds like a great pre work morning routine I’ll have to give it a try💕

Those 5 minutes extra only help if you actually set your alarm 5 min later so you don't get disturbed. Why snooze when you could just set your alarm later and actually sleep those 'extra' minutes?

It is difficult not to have coffee 1st thing during my weekends I go to the gym later. M-F I go to the gym early and drink lots of water. 2nd one is the snooze button I set my alarm at 4:45am wake up after 5:00am because I hit my snooze button. Nice tips.

My morning as of today: Wakes up by snoozing alarm about 5 times... Checks phone for notifications... Runs to take a warm shower... Makes coffee first thing... Watches this video before breakfast and burns tongue from coffee from watching this!!!

Let me break it down for you as you seem unable to grasp this: My comment was meant to imply religion makes you feel worthless as you constantly need to pray to god to thank him\praise him\love him as you cant live without him.....because you believe a book written by bronze age conmen that says everything is written in it is true, and don't believe anything else anyone ever tells you that contradicts it...EVER. That's the whole reason why I started leaving my phone in another room. If it's close enough to reach without getting out of bed I tend to just turn the alarm off and go back to sleep.

Start out with luke warm water, and gradually turn the heat down, making it colder. Your body will be better to adjust to the slow change of temprature. I try to do the same thing 😊

7 of 10 of the advice given in this video is what l already do! However the one about awakening in the morning immediately is a habit I'm trying to get back into after regressing into a bad habit of awaking later too regularly. Additionally l like having a cold shower instead of hot one as l dislike feeling too warm. Thanks Brightside for the convenient advice BTW.😁

Leave your phone in the other room? BAD IDEA. You may need it in the middle of the night in the event of a fire or break-in or heart attack, etc. Always keep your phone handy in case of an emergency.

Oh yes, if there’s a house fire, you totally should use your phone to call 911 and proceed to sit there in the burning house for 20 minutes until the fire truck shows up. Immediately leaving the house when you realize there’s a fire just isn’t a good option apparently 😒

1. I do oil pulling after I wake up while making my bed and preparing myself for shower. 2. I do brush my teeth then have cold shower. I love cold shower. 3. I drink water with lemon or with a squeeze of orange sometimes. 4. I eat oatmeal for breakfast or baked oatmeal pudding with banana.
