eon001 The diets in this show are extremely unhealthy; a 1000 calorie or less total per day, and 5 hours of excersise per day... None of the trainers that I have met have gone below 1500 calories per day with 2 hours per day...
Only aSpoon you know they were peddled diet pills, cheating tactics, and most of their metabolisms were basically wrecked when they went so long with your body being more or less in starvation mode. Eating so few calories and exercising so much is NOT sustainable to most people, which is why like 90% of the people on the show gained it all back.
The problem with this show was that they ate like 1000 cals. a day a worked out for 5 hours. That's not very sustainable in the long run, so of course some is going to pack the pounds back on. Remember that it has to last the rest of your life. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
@FIFA 07 wow man.. that sounds like a crazy ordeal! I wish you best of luck and am sure youll keep progressing. I only have a basic understanding of this stuff but have you considered a higher meal frequency? To maybe see if it speeds up your metabolism? Also, a friend of mine suffered from abnormally low T3 levels and that caused her to gain some weight idk if youve monitored ur t3 levels recently.
@FIFA 07 you said youre overweight... a faster metablolism will allow you to keep ur diet the same interms of your grocery bill lol and lose that weight.. also dipping below a 1000 calories is only sustainable if you realy proritize your micro nutrients. If youre talking about food shortage during war, sure a slow metablism will help them during that period of time.. but in the long run keep in mind youre body dosent magically start saving all its calories.. it cuts down on its desire to do things and general activity level.. nobody wants their bodies to force em to be lazy. Also, a person with a fast metabolism dosent die in a week without food... the human body adapts by lowring their metabolism.. the same way yours did to such low calories
If im not mistaken, the show was cancelled due to its unethical practices, such as starving, dehydrating, and overworking their contestants. The thing is, when you want to lose weight, it has to be a slow, gradual, complete change in lifestyle. Being forced into it for a gameshow isn't really the way to go about it. Thats why most people on the show gain all the weight back.
At least one coach was accused of feeding her team diet drugs. One later admitted using steroids to gain muscle. still another resorted to a form of eating disorder in the lead up to the final. To put a final cap on things Bob Harper suffered a heart attack in 2017, due in part from over exercise and overdependance on a high potassium vegan diet. TBL made the show about pure weight loss, not about healthy lifestyles.
Sidney Frederickson bob had a heart attack due to an unknown hereditary cholesterol issue. it had nothing to do with over doing it. i have the same issue as him. you have no symptoms and can lead the healthiest lifestyle possible and still have insanely high cholesterol numbers. i’m 17 and on heavy meds.
Sam Rouen (the Australian) is by far the biggest success in the world he has regained no kilos in more than 11 years and is unbelievably pure brawn. He’s a firefighter and a personal trainer.
Imagine if they redid this and had a team of dietitians, exercise physiologists, doctors, psychologists etc who could really help make it a lifelong thing. Also it wasn't so much of a competition and it went over a longer period. Also imagine if the health professionals shared some basic tips and explained why people had completely different diet plans and exercise routines. And of course included life skills such as shopping, cooking, managing guilt and of course eating out.
Not gonna lie - your videos truly inspire me. I’m on a weight loss journey and sometimes it gets really hard. Watching your videos always gets me up and going again and this one fits so well, it’s ridiculous!
Watched it for as long as I can remember and that’s what motivated me to become a personal trainer. Always had a crush on Mike Morelli. And him and his dad looked amazing by the end!
What about David from season 15? He was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. By far the best transformation I have ever seen - he is and has always been my favorite contestant ever on the show. Go, David!

What all these people don't realize is that they're still the same person with the same problems once they leave the show. You are not a "new person" just because you dropped 100 pounds. Same person, just smaller. So please stop saying "I'm a new person!" No, you're not.
You forgot Michael Ventrella from Daris’ season. He weighed 526 pounds and was the heaviest contestant in the show’s history. He lost over 200 pounds on campus alone and went on to win the show by losing over half of his body weight.
I remember Kim Nielsen (Desire for TNA Wrestling) who was the Runner-up from Season 13. It looks like she put a little of the weight back on. After the show she became a Christian and got sober from alcohol, smoking & drugs.
This happens if you lose to much weight very fast. Then you will gain alot of weight because the body wants to keep alot of fat for the time when another diet comes. Its called the jojo effect
