the ram srt10 is just crazy one time i had set the cruise control to 200km/h on the autobahn and suddenly in the mirrors there was a giant red wall with some white stripes closing in on my so i left the left lane and shortly after was passed by a ram and it felt like i was standing still its already rare to see a ram here in germany, but seeing one on the autobahn passing you while you are doing 200 was just mind boggling
LeXeL mein Freund....
@Dave Goldspink I would tend to agree because a ute was intended to be the practicality of a pickup with the refinement of a passenger car, but the included the Mercedes and well even a utilitarian merc is pretty refined.
This video needs a part two...plenty more ludicrous trucks out there; Little Red/ Midnight express trucks, Ford Ranchero, 440 Ramcharger w/ 4 speed, GM 476 v6 pickup, Subaru Brat and Baja, and all those insane Aussie utes.
sccrash420 I'm pissed off. Gm and ford close down their Australian manufacturers. Then a month later they announce that people want car based pickups again... great...
AkLG55: definitely still in production. Many American EMS services have moved over to V10-powered E450 vans as well, and Ford claims the Super Duty pickups can still be ordered with them. They're very robust engines.
I was about to brag about how great that Ford SVT Lightning sounded. That is, until that Mercedes showed up and humbled the shit outta that Ford. Lol. Great video!!
I was starting to think you weren't going to put my silverado SS on here but I guess you saved the best for last lol. Great video my dude, love the channel.
"Best"? My stock 05 5.7 Hemi Ram 1500 makes those same numbers. Literally. The SRT Ram would eat the Silverado SS for breakfast. Hell, if they'd just offer the BIG Hemi {6.1/6.4} in the Ram 1500, it would've damn near got close to the SRT-10. Maybe even surpassed it due to weight savings. My build is probably just gonna be a mild-moderate cammed 5.7 with reverse flow heads and a single medium twin scroll turbo in the valley set to run 10-15 pounds of boost and make the truck perform like a factory turbo'd vehicle. {{wide powerband, boost from down low, IMPROVED mileage with good driving habits, etc.}}
Mine isn't modded yet, I don't have an SRT, just a regular 5.7 hemi, and the power to weight on an SRT is 1hp to every 10 pounds of weight, while on the 5.7 Hemi, it's 1hp for every 14.5 pounds. On third generation trucks, that is. 4th gen rams had boosts in power due to a better drivetrain, electric cooling fans, and electric power steering instead of hydraulic.
You're making a fool of yourself. My 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT HEMI is completely stock aside from a muffler delete. Which does nothing but make it louder. 345HP, 385 ft-lbs of torque. As I said, the same numbers as a Chevy Silverado SS. My point was that my NON performance edition truck had the same performance as Chevy's special edition high performance truck, and that if it was an apples to apples comparison of special edition performance variant {srt10, as opposed to 5.7l v8, which matches the Silverado SS} vs special edition performance variant {the Silverado SS}, then the Silverado SS would have NO CHANCE at all.
Reza The Fox that could be true lol, I just knew of people who drove their raptors hard and the trans and driveshaft needed to be upgraded to handle the torque from the motor because it was just tearing shit apart
That Syclone was a big hit in US. Comparable only to Mazda 13B and Toyotas 1.8 Hemi type engines of the 80s, super fast at the drag strip. Great memories..
Great episode .... American pick ups with tractor engines that can also be turned into power stations to run the grid! and a Mazda rotary i never seen before!
where tf are the Aussie utes. Its sad that you put in the El Camino, but didn't put the utes in. The El Camino took inspiration from the Ford Falcon Ute and the Holden Kingswood Ute the Americans have us to thank for that, that made me very sad.
I'm wishing I could immigrate to Australia for all the nice cars (Ford guy, but there are a few Holden models I like), but I'm to old they wont take me
Where are all the Aussie utes? What the hell. There is literally an entire continent which is home of the "bonkers pickup" and specialises in making them.
I have a V-10 F-350 and a V10 Excursion, so I have both the 20V and 30V setup. They both sound beautiful and run forever. Very strong engines they are.
And to think that I almost bought a Silverado SS a couple months ago. Shoulda did it. But I can't handle that Ram SRT10, that's too much. Great video, my friend.
In my home town there is a purple chevrolet el camino, a black chevrolet el camino with a blower, and a red supercharged dodge ram srt-10 with over 900 HP. And then there is my big brother riding around on he's gay-ass scooter.
Hey VisioRacer, I love your work, and I always appreciate your knowledge about the most obscure automotive Unicorns, but when you said bonkers, I was hoping you wouldn't concentrate solely on bhp. While the Mazda Rotary Pickup is bonkers not for bhp, I feel like this video is a missed opportunity. So here are the really cool ones you missed out on, IMHO Honda T360 359cc inline 4 with 30bhp@8500rpm, also the first production 4 wheeler by Honda, beating the S500 by a few months Suzuki Carry Managed to offer a 2 stroke engine from its introduction in 1961 till its 8th generation when the 2 stroke was retired in 1987, but the 8th gen was replaced in 1991 HSV Maloo Of all the insane Aussie Utes, this is the pinnacle, as it is basically a Corvette ZR-1 / Cadillac CTS V Pickup, complete with the 6.2 litre supercharged LS9/LSA engine and GM's Magnaride adaptive suspension Suzuki Carry again For the dubious and debatable title of the smalles production 4x4 pickup ever Isocarro By makers of Isetta Bubble Cars Iso, probably the only 1-door pickup truck ever Wartburg 353 Coupe Utility Certainly fits bonkers as had a 1000cc 2-stroke and a flywheel equipped transmission enabling clutchless upshifts from 2nd gear onwards Unimog While offered in many body styles, the original ones before Mercedes Benz bought the company and the legendary 406 were all basically a pickup truck to begin with, but having tractor like capabilities. Also first portal axles in series production. But most bonkers ones would be those in production today, so impossibly capble they are. Hummer H1 Utility The only real Hummer, the H1, was offered in 4 body styles, and among these 2 were pickup trucks, 2 and 4 doors alongside soft top and wagon. At the time one of the largest pickup trucks on sale, it is insane simply by existing. This truck has probably single handedly created the anti vehicle pollution mentality by being the most obnoxious truck ever, by some margin. Also, on board tire inflation system as standard equipment for the first time in the world. Lamborghini LM002 If the 6x6 AMG is a pickup, so is this. Countach V12 powered pickup truck. Nuff said Lastly, Mini Coupe Utility Probably the first mass produced pickup truck with FF layout (any FF layout related pioneering achievements are probably all by Mini), as almost all Kei trucks were FMR or RMR or even RR layout back then, and for a long time after. Most are still not FF today Everyone who patiently read thus far, thank you. VisioRacer, please don't disappoint us. Keep making awesome videos. P.S. excluding some pickup trucks here already mentioned by other commenters.
Good list for top ten. I have never seen that rotary pickup before. I would have left the Ford V10 out, it's a great gas/petrol option instead of a diesel but that's about it. An Aussie ute like the Maloo would be a great addition.
Homebrew Subaru I wish the Ford v10 would go out of production for it's issues that I've seen no one mention getting fixed properly as they still tend to shoot spark plugs out of the head somehow why idk Ford said they fixed it and here I am trying to help a guy fix his v10 cheaply but don't want to touch it with. 10 foot pole
I inherited a V10 powered Ford Excursion from my father (the SUV version of the Super Duty, and largest SUV ever made), it wasn't fast, but that V10 was very reliable and certainly sounded different. Didn't drive it much, the body was in bad shape and I ended up selling it as I had little use for it. GMC also made a SUV version of the Syclone called the Typhoon, those trucks are still very popular with tuners because of the turbo V6.
mrvwbug44 drive the v10 for awhile and watch as the Ford falls apart everywhere know a guy with one on his superduty and his spark plugs shot out of the heads not a very reliable motor if they have any issues at all
I own a ford falcon xr6 turbo I would smash half these Utillities in a quarter mile run do some more research when you do a video and claim the fastest in the world!
Missing the Dodge Lil Red Express and their Midnite Express.... Love your videos, always entertaining and informative, looking forward to see many more!
Australia had em FIRST! The Ranchero and El Camino are done in the Mold of the Australian Ute! The Ute was built from 1934-2016 from Ford Australia and 1935-2017 from General Motors Holden.
The lightning is the best of them all in the word of aftermarket. You change the pulley, tune it, exhaust and intake and you’re runnings 12s. Little more work and you’re running 11s. Very fun trucks
The newest Ford F-150 Raptor has the same 3.2L twin-turbo ecoboost V6 now, but it's faster, more powerful, more nimble, more *everything* than the previous Raptor that it replaced. It's even more of a beast even though it doesn't have the V8 sound anymore. You also forgot about the Ford Ranchero. The El Camino's hot competition. ;)
If you're talking about the 2017-2020 Raptors, they all had a 3.5 ecoboost. A 3.2 ecoboost does not exist. The next size down is actually a 3.0 which hasn't been used outside of crossovers...until now.
The problem with the Toyota Tundra super chargers is that it blows the engine after about four years. My dad had one and after about 90-100k km it blew the motor and by that time the warranty had worn off and it was pretty much just as expensive to get a whole new truck so he did
Great video interesting mix of vehicles however i noticed a smal mistake concerning the g63 6X6 only the Brabus tuned versions have 700hp the normal one (if you can consider this vehicle normal at all) had 536hp. But apart from that keep up the good work.
Syclone was not made in '92 and only 3 were made in '91. Also, whole technically it was the same platform, it was slightly annoying to see it say it was based on the Chevy S-10, rather than the GMC Sonoma. I would have added the Dodge Dakota R/T, HSV Maloo, velociraptor 6x6, ZR2, and a few others as well
Australia does utes. A ute is a passenger car front with a tray on the back, and country boys have seen their 'utility vehicle' as a sportscar for over 50 years. The top spec Marloo (holden) is worth a look, as is the XR6 Turbo ute (ford.) They're a good deal lighter than the sedans they come from, but all the weight is removed from behind the driver's seat. What do you think that does to the handling? If you can't get sideways in a ute and control it, then you just can't drive...
What do you call a Ranchero and El Camino? The Yanks call em a bloody pickup. And they based on the Fairlane/Falcon/Fairlane/Torina from FoMoCo and GM from the Impala & Chevell for the El Camino
friend of mine has the ford V10 excursion and there was a lamborghini gallardo next to us at traffic light and a cop next to him we reved the ford loudly like 5 times and the cop pulled over the lamborghini xD
