Nah I don’t remember the exact numbers but if look at the stats of how many beings could’ve lived in the Star Wars galaxy vs the amount of Jedi even while the Jedi were at the height of their power statistically it would be easy for most beings to never see one or even hear more than in mythical sounding tales. So yeah; during the Republic; the name of the jedi was poppular; people did not necesarilly had to believe in the Force, but they surelly have heard about that planet that was in the brink of a war and jedi came and with an screwdriver and some chewng gum stopped the rebellion... but for most, they where myth. Princess Leia was an aristocrat of her world. Her speech would have reflected proper forms until she jumped into pleading and dropping it altogether when she full on started "slumming it" and joined the core rebellion, (my take). Hyperspace is a fickle thing, "short skips" are apparently harder to track than long jumps and would also compute FAR faster as they have fewer stellar bodies and gravitational objects to account for, as such a "short skip" might be as easy as mashing a couple buttons, waiting a half second then throwing the lever.

That convenient 'space' next to the gate is actually pretty awkward to walk on, because it's a steep, completely uneven slope - and it's also behind him - far as I'm aware, he never really looks at the post that doesn't have the control panel on it. What gets argued more so is that they could have literally gone around it, but since that part is raised quite high, assuming another squad would have been alerted when the probe droid was destroyed (he doesn't know if it had the chance to scan him or not), he and Leia would have been easily spotted. Speaking of, he doesn't really have the time to think in such rational means, especially as he's been away from any form of support with his connection to the Force for ten years. What does surprise me is that he could have potentially just jumped, and carried Leia over (unless he was injured? Can't remember off the top of my head). So who knows. Because the Children of the Watch had no interest in getting involved with mainstream Mandalorian politics, it's highly likely they had no communication with the Death Watch either. This would mean they'd have no idea who Bo-Katan Kryze was, because up until Maul's invasion, she was only ever involved with the Death Watch. Learning about the fall of Mandalore would have been much easier because the Empire would have intentionally broadcast it, likely in the hopes of causing the remaining Coverts to make mistakes that would allow the Empire to hunt them down. But they will have also avoided mentioning names of key people - after all, a person doesn't have to be alive to be rallied behind, a martyr is just as powerful.

#11 Which levers on the Falcon do what exactly? Seems they never actually agreed on how you fly that ship, as they are always pulling the same levers to do different things. As for lightspeed skipping? It just reinforces what Han said about how dangerous it is to just pull the levers all willy nilly to enter hyperspace. Poe comes very close to crashing into many things, the Falcon seems to split into two ships at one point, then upon landing the ship is on fire! Han not believing in the force is only confusing due to later retconning. More confusing things would be; #12 Why did Leia still have Han take her directly to the rebel base when she was certain the death star was tracking them? #13 Why did the jedi not have any concerns over using an army that was cloned from a guy they were hunting for trying to kill a senator,...a guy they knew was in league with their enemy,...and why were they totally shocked and unprepared when said army turned in them? #14 Why did Anakin still join Palpatine after he admits to Anakin that he doesn't actually know how to cheat death,...given Anakin just made it clear he needs Palps to save Padme, because he "can't live without her!"?
@EmmanuelB
@EmmanuelB Год назад
Also, it's stated that Poe is the best and boldest pilot they ever had in the rebel alliance (and that includes Luke). And it's happening 35 years after ANH so it's not hard to assume that tech might have evolved a lot regarding computers, hyperspace and calculations.

Some of these are bad writing (like the Poe thing). But some have pretty obvious in-universe explanations. Like the hiding on the Falcon one - those are smuggling compartments. Whether Han expected to smuggle himself or not, smuggling PEOPLE is a pretty popular thing to smuggle, whether helping them escape from oppression or ... less high integrity reasons. Even if not people, scanners might pick up certain materials or technology. If you're making smuggling compartments, having them be scanner-resistant seems like a really desirable thing to do.

Solo not believing in the force: as mentioned Jedi weren't everywhere so it's not impossible that he never encountered someone who used the force. Add potential imperial propaganda declaring Jedi as liars and such, it wouldn't be that strange for him to explain any instances of the force being used as some kind of trick to himself. Especially considering he likely would have been a kid when he could have encountered any force user. Leia's accent: maybe a bit reaching for an answer here, but Leia is a diplomat so she likely had training on how someone like her is expected to act, she might have adopted that accent from one of her teachers and when she encountered Tarkin she acted as a diplomat in hopes she could talk herself out of it. When it doesn't work she stops using it and afterwards she was more a rebel leader than a diplomat, so she didn't fall back on that training. Droids feeling pain: Pain is the sensation telling our body that there is something wrong with it, programming a droid to interpret what their sensors tell them as unpleasent or painfull so that they would avoid it seems reasonable. Them not scanning the falcon: One the sensors that might detect contraband might work on the same base as scanners for lifeforms, so shielding might work for life signs as well. Also people might smuggle rare and/or endangered animals, so it wouldn't be surprising to have shielding specifically for lifeforms anyway if it's necessary. It's rather telling how many of those things are in the Disney movies/series.

Han not believing in the Force isn’t hard to understand. People don’t take into account how massive the galaxy is, and even in their prime, there were only about 10 thousand Jedi. The average person would never come into contact with a Jedi or any other trained Force user, so having never seen them in action, it would be logical to assume that the stories of their “magic” powers were made up or that they were frauds. Also, during most of Han’s life, the Empire was in power and actively suppressed and discredited information about the Jedi.

Why didn't the Imperial gunners shoot down the escape pod at the start of ANH? They specifically said there were no lifeforms onboard. If there's laws about shooting escape pods then surely it's when there are lifeforms onboard. Commander: "Hold your fire. There's no life forms. They must've short circuited." WTF??? Saving ammo on a mile long battlecruiser? None of that makes sense. Just more of Lucas' crappy lack of logic I guess. Why did Leia fly straight to the Rebel base on Yavin, even though she knew they were being tracked? Why not fly to another planet, then swap ships to get to Yavin? Why didn't Obi-Wan use the fast run that we saw at the start of TPM when he was trying to get through the shield gates at the end of the movie? How did Leia remember her REAL mother even though Padme died when she was born? She even said that she died when she was young, NOT when you was born, suggesting that she took Leia to Alderaan and died when Leia was a toddler. How did Chewbacca not recognise a Jedi when he met Obi-Wan in ANH, even though he knew Yoda in ROTS? Ehh! There's dozens more continuity errors and warped logic in these crappy movies, and I've given up trying to answer them. Ironically, the one that Lucas has called the weakest SW movie is the one with the least errors, The Empire Strikes Back (original version).

There are a couple of jumps to hyperspace in Star Wars that are confusing. For example the notorious use of a hyperspace jump as an attack in Episode VIII. I mean if this were such a potent weapon it would be pretty easy to make an unmanned missile do something similar, which could have saved the Rebels in the Original Trilogy a of lot of headaches in taking out Star Destroyers. I get that distance does matter in hyperspace travel but basically the entire cat-and-mouse story line of Star Wars Resistance where The First Order is tracking down the Colossus where The First Order can discover the location of The Colossus and get their via hyperspace in what appears to be a few minutes. Sure maybe, due to fuel concerns, the Colossus may just be physically close to the First Order’s position, but also it just makes for a much more convenient story, that doesn’t involve a larger First Order effort to find The Colossus (and thus bringing in more ships and characters that would increase the budget of the show).
@Nappylox71
@Nappylox71 Год назад
But we have to remember. By the time we hit episode VII, that’s 25, 30 years AFTER A New Hope. For all we know computers were much better at plotting a hyperspace jump. If you notice they jumped to some pretty crazy places, probably because the computer had to make sure they at least didn’t hit a star or supernova.

I gonna be "that guy" and point out that the cannon explanation for the accent thing is the British sounding accent, in universe, is the dialect of the core words, which is where most imperial power is, as well as the senate. So someone who is a politician or an imperial officer would probably have a British accent, and someone in the outer rim wouldn't. Leia was presumably playing a character of sorts as she was still going under the guise of a diplomat. Easy.

Laser gates scene in Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul duel on Naboo as they fight through a corridor with laser gates. Maul gets to the last gate, Jinn to the second to last gate, and Obi-Wan was at the other end of the corridor when the gates activate. When the gates deactivate Jinn and Maul resume their duel and Obi-Wan runs to aid his master,. However, he ends up at the last gate. How could two fighters deul each other from one end of the corridor to be stopped at the last two laser gates, but then a man in his mid-twenties without any obstacles can only make it to the final gate?

It really isn't all that unbelievable that Han Solo wouldn't believe in the Force, and if you watch the movie with your ears open that is what he said. He never said he hadn't heard of the Jedi, just that he didn't believe in the Force. After all, there were only, what? One-thousand Jedi at their peak? In a society of untold thousands of planets, each potentially with billions of inhabitants, that is a really small number. In fact, ten times that amount would still vanish like a drop in the ocean. I find it more questionable that a nine-year-old slave boy on a planet not even controlled by the Republic would know of them. Not that that would be impossible, just less likely.

N not mention I'm fairly certain hyperspace is different than that of true space. You circumvent the limitations of faster than light travel by entering a warped dimension, so yeah you want the calculations of your jump to be correct so you dont end up in a star. So traveling through something wouldnt really make sense, n if that was the case n you could travel through something n destroy it via hyperdrive...why not make a ballistic missile w hyperdrive n fly it thru the death star? Or better yet, why build a death star when you can just drive a hunk of metal w a hyperdrive thru a planet?
