I feel so bad for the Seventeen vocalist. To lose your significant other, and(more likely than not) the majority of your closest friends at the same time... that type of thing can break someone.

So glad you included stories that weren't widely reported. I hate it when people make videos that have events/tragedies/mysteries that have already been covered in video after video after video. There are lots of people who deserve to have their story told, even if it isn't high profile.
The story about the tsunami and the vocalist of 17 made me cry. I can't imagine not only losing all my friends, but my wife as well. I hope he's doing well.
he is a really strong person so i think and i really hope he can go through all this. his band is actually a popular local band in indonesia and always giving me a childhood memories when i hear their song. fyi anak krakatau means krakatau/krakatoa 's child

I saw somewhere today that they have pleaded guilty now?? Maybe they changed their plea?? Either way they're imprisoned for life, I just pray for their poor children

I remember seeing an episode of 1,000 Ways to Die about a guy who ate a snail and it killing him and I have never forgotten about it, as soon as u started talking about the slug I knew where it was going 😭😭😭
Fuuuuuuuck... poor Aussie guy. Had his whole life in front of him and drunken antics robbed him of that. I know people make bad decisions while drunk, but that the odds of that happening... just damn.
the worst thing is that it wasn't even a super crazy stunt compared to a lot of things drunk kids get up to. eating a garden slug is more in line with an elementary school dare than a stupid reckless act.
If you ever eat something weird or wild caught that could have a parasite and you feel ill tell ems and drink the strongest alcohol you can, vodka or stronger is better That's about all you can do before you get to the hospital to kill it if it is still in your stomach
I am glad you do this. As an aspiring journalist, I believe that covering the stories nobody likes to talk about is just as important. We all need to stay informed in order to stay safe.
You didn't have to have children or like hockey to be affected by the Humboldt Broncos bus crash. It affected the majority simply because it was 100% preventable. Thank you, Rob, for adding it to your list.
Canadian Gemini living in Canada, it felt so horrific. I’m glad it was covered because it affected Canadians so much. At the grocery store I work at, everyone wore green and yellow ribbons and many employees still wear them to date.
I completely agree. I live in Ontario and while I didn’t play hockey I travelled to numerous games via bus and it’s terrifying to think this could’ve happened everywhere. My community participated in Jersey day and put out hockey sticks on our porches. Canada is a place that if something happens we’re all affected and we all support each other.
red05 no they don’t deserve shit. Sadly they’ll get hot meals, showers and certain privileges, they’ll probably be protected considering how high profile their case was...
Well.. This is a big thing coming from me.! But this is one of those cases I'll make a 'Rare!' acception! I hope by now they both know the true experience of fear of abuse.! Just like those Poor children they cruely treated and vurtually starved to death!
Pfaff1911 boy stfu. this has nothing to do with privilege, and you can stop denying the fact that you have it. i’ll never understand why you people are so angered about being privileged. y’all are the lucky ones.

#4 happened in a town just 30 minutes away from me. The mother put the video on Facebook and it went viral. I’m just disgusted by this. Some people really don’t need to have children.
I wonder about that allll the time. Or like..I wonder what the absolute most fucked up disturbing thing is that's happening around the world right now.
It is especially poignant to me whenever I see something that happened on my past birthdays. What was I doing in the moments that were celebratory for me but that were the last moments for somebody else?
I’m glad the Humboldt crash made the list. It was a devastating tragedy for Canada. We wore hockey jerseys in their memory and my company made a huge donation to them. That picture of the boys holding hands in the hospital never fails to make me tear up
basically NEVER do anything a group is daring you to do because they are trying to make you do something they won't do themselves so just tell them you first and then you just walk away. ofc teenagers especially boys just don't know that or have the balls to defy their friends in the name of sanity!
i thought it was gonna turn out that it was poisonous, you can't just eat wild animals like that though, they can have diseases or parasites like that slug did
Thank you for mentioning the Broncos. I live less than an hour away from Humboldt, and less than 2 from the crash site. I lost family in that crash, and it was the first funeral I would ever attend. This entire event has been so hard on us, and seeing the recognition internationally is breathtaking. #HumboldtStrong
It is so heart warming seeing the support they got.I also live very close to Humbolt and I remember when we did jersey day in support for them the mall was just packed with people wearing Broncos jerseys.
Wow. So many people being absolutely horrid to kids in 2018... a lesser known story I read was an aboriginal woman in canada had to bury her one year old because her boyfriend had killed the infant. The infant had broken bones and his testicles had exploded from the abuse. It makes me want to cry, I hugged my one year old son extra tightly that night. I can't even fathom why someone would be so horrible to a baby, and that's coming from someone who had post partum that made me aggressive and blindly furious towards my own child. I never harmed him even in those episodes. Why would you ever do that to your own kid... or anyone's kid!
I've gone thru post partum it's not fun at all, especially wen you yell at your kid out of frustration and then you feel super guilty and cry but i would never imagine beating a helpless being to death it's a horrible thing.
Oh you have no idea, look up the Foster care system in Oregon, it's practically inevitable that most of those kids will be sexually assualted while in the system, also look up sex rings and ritual abuse. Some people even sell their kids
I honestly would've included the Kerch Polytechnic College Shooting on this list as well. It wasn't covered as much as the other shootings that happened in 2018, which is why I think it should be added. Here's a brief description to those who are uninformed: On October 17, 2018, an 18-year old student named Vladislav Roslyakov carried out a mass shooting and bombing at the Kerch Polytechnic College. At the school, which is located on the Crimean peninsula, he first detonated a bomb in the cafeteria, then opened fire on students and teachers fleeing the blast. If this sounds familiar to Americans (myself included), then it should. Based on his internet history (and the shooting he carried out itself), he was heavily inspired by the Columbine massacre. By the end of his 15-minute rampage, he killed 20 people and injured another 70, before killing himself in the library, also like the Columbine killers. Due to the aforementioned Columbine inspiration and the political fallout not only in Crimea, but in Russia as a whole, the Russian media has dubbed the shooting "Russia's Columbine". It is not only the worst school shooting in Russia (they don't consider Beslan a school shooting), but it is also the deadliest mass shooting in Russia not related to terrorism. www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45891201 www.thedailybeast.com/crimea-attack-teen-dreamed-of-giving-russia-its-own-columbine-massacre
I never heard about that but I'm surprised i haven't considering how bad it was. The same goes for the Beslan massacre. I've known about it for a while now but I've talked to a lot of my friends and none of them knew about it. That's even more surprising considering that hundreds of people were killed in it.
Creepy?? These are stories of death and devastation and this video was mean to inform and spread awareness about horrific events around the world, he even states that. You out here actin like this is entertainment you sick fuck.

My grandma died on thanksgiving of 2018. She was 57 and very healthy, she had a severe stroke and was on life support for a week. I miss her every day.
So crazy to have a situation like that so abruptly with no signs of warning with great health. Really makes you think you never know who or when it’ll be. Sorry for your loss bro
I know this is technically a 2019 life event for me but my dad just recently passed away from liver cancer on August 13th after contacting sepsis they discovered a massive tumor on his liver when they were performing surgery to stop the bleeding in his digestive tract. He had recently entered remission for throat cancer but it had spread to his liver and his oncologist (arguably the best in the state of Michigan) missed it due to liver cancer's propensity to go undetected until the later stages. I know your pain and time will ease the pain but unfortunately the void will always be there when you lose a loved one.
Glad to see this about the turpin couple: "On April 19, 2019, the couple was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 25 years, although experts believed they would never receive parole due to the severity of the crimes."
My happy place would be if they brought back Forensic Files with Rob as a host. Peter Thomas was a national treasure and is irreplaceable, but I think Rob would do a great job. Okay back to the real world.
Rob does a great job and has a good distinctive voice. My favorite is Joe Alaskey from Murder Comes to Town. So sad he died. I always felt he should have been paid double because he had the perfect voice for it.
It was in England and just a silly joke that went horribly wrong for the poor lad! Everybody does silly things when you are young and drunk and luckily for most people there is no damage done but jeez, when it goes wrong like in this case it can go totally wrong! Shame for that poor kid,his whole life ruined and finally taken just over a moment of fun with his friends,so sad!
I haven’t gotten to that part of the video yet but I’m very happy to hear that he included it. I live in Ontario and I can tell you everyone here was following what happened and giving as much as we could.
My best friend’s cousin was on the bus during the crash (we’re both from Regina). To hear it actually getting international coverage is absolutely amazing, because it really was a terrible and important moment in our province.
Rob, I just want to thank you for putting the Humboldt Broncos on this list. It's a tragedy that was honored by the NHL and all of the teams. Being a hockey player myself it hurt to see this team and lives get destroyed by a simple mistake by one driver. They deserve more attention from the world
Word to the wise never ever eat raw slugs or snails Any kind of invertebrate including crayfish and freshwater crabs even in this country a lot of them contain parasites I've learned this through years of aquarium Hobby you should even wash your hands after handling one of these creatures yes it's that serious... domestic or Wild!

@@joanbaczek2575 not sure but probably couldn't kill the parasite without killing or severely damaging the boy. Man #8 reminds me of someone I knew it's the act of a coward to commit suicide after doing such horrendous thing to someone you claimed you "loved"... it is so important to keep these stories afloat, human darkness can never be ignored. It's great to see people like you bringing a light to it, keep up the good work. Cultural Curfew my ex hung himself and left me a letter, I never read it. first of all I wasn't even a teenage yet and he was 18.. he was extremely manipulative, but he had mental disorders.. I found him and he knew I would too. I struggled for years, still do.. I lost an ex not long ago who drowned and had almost every bone broken in his body, he didn't make it. he was also my bestfriend. life is so messed up..
The Humboldt Broncos bus crash happened roughly an hour away from where I live. Actually, in the one picture that was used in this video where the player is shooting at the goalie, the goalie is from the team in the city I live in. I have no connection to the hockey world, but the accident was hard to deal with as a whole as it hit so close to home. So many people were affected by the accident, and people are unfortunately still struggling with it to this day.
A couple years ago, a kid drowned about one block away from my house. I learned about it when I noticed a giant group of people standing down the street. Given that didn't affect me, I struggle to understand why the bus incident affects you.
I agree about postpartum depression being terrible. But this lady was extorting money using the baby as a pawn. "If u don't send me money, this baby gonna die on God." That's just one text..
I have 3 kids and have depression and get really bad post partum.. I do everything for the kids but dont take care of myself.. And the dad doesn't give me child support.. I would never threaten their lives.

I feel so sorry for that one vocalist from that Indonesian pop band that survived. I just know that he's angry at himself for being the only one who survived and not being able to save his friends when the circumstances were absolutely out of his control. I pray that God gives him peace. I can only imagine how much pain he's still in. I don't even know him and I'm tearing up. :(
Damn,I have mixed feelings about the slug story.I mean I feel kinda sorry for him because nobody should suffer like this but at the same time I think "Hey dude WTF?!" That's why you shouldn't listen to your drunk friends and do such stupid things.
I'm surprised that the Turpin parents were able to keep a 29 year old hostage. Such heartbreaking cruelty. So glad they are free from the horrors their parents exposed them too. I wonder where they are now
The doorbell video is actually from my town. I remember seeing it on the news and being so shocked because Montgomery is a small town where nothing really happens and everybody knows each other, and the fact that nobody recognized her seemed unbelievable. We watched all the news clips of it in every one of my classes at school and everybody was worried. None of us thought it was weird that she didnt look like she was wearing pants because it gets very hot and sometimes girls wear long shirts and short shorts and since the shirt is longer than the shorts you cant see them. I'm glad that she was able to get back to her family. Thanks for mentioning her in the video, it seems like everyone collectively forgot about it a few weeks after it happened
I hope they feel so much clearer now I can't go 3 days without a shower (probably because of my curly hair)I can't imagine how bad they must have smelled
@@theangelofdarkness2903 No really, I usually wait till my balls itch before I shower, its like a built in man-timer 😀 Joke... sorry I couldn't help it 😇
That first one made me so mad. The apartment should have had smoke alarms in the first place! All of them could’ve been saved. I don’t see why an apartment building wouldn’t have them.

Omg that poor baby being dunked head first in water by her mother...the one that is supposed to protect you the most! I'm glad the authorities made it in time!
It is truly an atrocity that the parents of the Turpin children would keep these grown people captive. I dont know how someone could live with the fact that they tortured, mentally disabled, and almost killed their *thirteen* children. Even when one of their children was *twenty nine* .
I hope the kids can recover from that. I feel worse for the older kids though. They have to watch as their little siblings go through such atrocity and can't do anything about it. I can't imagine what I'd do in that situation.
No, governments doesn't save or protect and has no place in everyday lives. A license doesn't stop DUI accidents, firearm license and registration doesn't stop murders, having a license to be form law doesn't stop them from dirty dealings....why would this license be any different?
I've been raging about that usually a lot of people get angry and I feel that there should be qualifications and that you should have to get a license and approved to have kids cuz I think if you're poor and can't afford to give your kid a decent life and has to live off of welfare which really limits his future I think that's child abuse and child neglect you shouldn't just be able to have a kid and then live off of state welfare what future does that kid have he won't have any help financially from anybody nobody to pay for his college education just going to be another burden on the system I think it's wrong
The Turpin family's story is quite odd. The oddest part, to me, is that they have so many happy family pictures. But, behind the scenes, they are definitely being slowly crushed in their souls by their parents.
