We've moved 13 times in 13 years 😊 4 states. Moving is the worst. Love these hacks. This last move from California to Utah we finally used a moving company and cleaning service. While a few items were damaged or broken, it was definitely nice not having to pack as much.

Great hacks! I have moved quite a bit myself. Here is a hack for you..probably this is mostly for people that are moving with in their state and doing it themselves. This really helps with unpacking too. The clothes you have hanging. Put a trashbag over the clothes you have on hangers and tie them up on top so the bag is sitting just like it would be if it were in your trash can. This helps because things fall off hangers, get dirty and some times ruined. That won't happen because when they fall off, they land in the bag and not on the ground. Will you have to iron, maybe if it falls off, maybe not. It depends on what it is. One of the best things about moving, you get to downsize your things. I can't believe how much stuff I get rid of every time I move.
We’re moving from Tampa to Austin in a little under two weeks. I took the extra hangers from my closet and used zip ties from the Dollar Tree to zip them into bundles of 10. They fit much better in the boxes that way. Thanks for this list!
That is nice to be organized like that and that bring back memories of moving from one base to another while in the Air Force. I didn't have as much stuff as you all, but did have to organize and send off items I could not take with me in an airplane. I was fortunate to not lose anything, but did end up going back to Lackland AFB, Texas for recruiting school and the airline losing my luggage and not getting them to me until I finally gave up and ended up going back to my home base.
In the last year and 18 months we moved! We purged before we packed. We are still unpacking some boxes and found more stuff to purge! When you have kids, purging seems to be a constant requirement so you don't get overwhelmed with "stuff"!
Wowzie that's alot of moving. I have lived in alot of house's throughout the years but only a hour away at the most while my kids (3) were still home we moved 7 time's just in the same town. I rented my house's was a single Mom so fixed house's to get cheaper rent or cheaper deposits or both. Did everything from stripping hardware floors to doing tile to painting and so much more. 😃 do whatever you have to do to make it work. My 3 girls blessed me with 11 grandkids from 5 to 17. Soon to be 18. OMG grandma is a old lady. Lol. 61. Well congratulations on your move. Love your video's especially for the instant pots. Trying to save money up to get one. They should give you ones for all the reviews and recipes you do on them. I am disabled now barely can pay bills let alone buy other thing's. Hopefully by next year can get me one. Living alone be nice to be able to cook quickly when not feeling well which is most days unfortunately. Thank you for all you do for us. Truly appreciate it so much. I will trade places with you😉..I live in Northern California..been here most of my life and CANNOT WAIT to leave California..btw, hope you had a good experience with your moving company..my niece recently moved from Cali to Texas n the moving company took her stuff to Florida😱..took 3 weeks to get her belongings and MANY items were damaged (including her couches!) She said it looked like they had been in an accident😕..so if your experience with UPACK was good, let me know..hoping we will need them in the near future 😁

Great tips, but unfortunately my situation is different. I sympathize, btw, for moving out of state...I’ve done it before. I’m packing to move from a 1-bedroom apartment with three walk-in closets to a studio apartment with one closet, but a storage space on two sides of the apt. I’m working on purging and packing, but having a heart condition, getting tired easily, and also working 40 hours a week, it’s a slow process, and I’m running out of time. I don’t even know who can help my son-in-law load the truck...I’m renting a U-Haul and he’s driving it...because I can’t lift more than 10# and after 2 or 3 trips up and down the stairs, carrying things, I’m whipped. I’m looking forward to the move, tho because I’ll have a much bigger and a better kitchen in a number of ways. Congratulations on your move and have fun setting up your new home. I loved California when I was there. I hope you and your family will, too.

Moving wasn’t as smooth as others have been, but I’m in my new place, now, and now it’s time to find everything and find places for them. Unfortunately it was just my daughter, son-in-law, and I moving day, so everything just went up here and not put in the designated sections due to beating the rain. I’ve definitely learned from this move, and decided to hire someone next time. lol How do you and your family like California?
