My most recent PHP project is a password database/vault application from scratch (no libraries or frameworks). It has everything: client side encryption to encrypt the user's data before sending to the server, server side encryption to create backups of the entire database on the cloud, authentication with JWT and I ended up creating a half baked MVC framework unintentionally because I needed routing (I used a simple switch case), controllers, auth middlewares (I call the middleware in the controller constructor or in the specific action methods), configuration files to store refresh tokens for the cloud storage backups (it was annoying figuring it out the path to a config file so I made a Config class to handle configuration), and handle all possible errors.

Why don't you create video tutorials about advanced php, such as design patterns, di container, service locator and etc. I watched MVC php framework videos and I built it. But I wasn't satisfied. I think it is time to create advanced programming. I'm looking forward it.

Storing shopping cart products in a cookie is a bad idea. U have to create additional logic to support saving them in the cookie, then u have to, as u already said, implement additional logic to merge them with existing products in the database. A much better and easier approach is just to store the ID or GUID of ur shopping cart in a cookie (KISS), then ur products will be stored in one place (the database), and u only have to deal with abandoned shopping carts for anonymous users, which is fine and even desired because u have additional feedback that somebody was trying to buy something in ur shop but left and didn't came back. If u really want to shine with ur portfolio, don't create pointless projects. I mean, those mentioned are fine, but this isn't a good portfolio... When u are a beginner, just become a contributor to one of the more popular open source projects or frameworks; this is what u will gain: - u will master the framework or project u are contributing too - u will enforce the most important programming principles like KISS, DRY and SOLID - u will learn how to work efficient and collaborate in a group - u will learn how to use a version control system like git - u will learn how to use composer And last github will be ur portfolio there isn't anything better to find a good job.
