If you're trying to save money, I personally believe it's the little frugal habits that snowball into the largest savings. So today, I'm walking you through a very typical day with me and my three little kiddos, with a bunch of my best habits on display: shopping loss leader grocery sales, eating home-cooked food, utilizing the library, baking my own bread, and more!

And for those who prefer written instructions, here's my current fav bread recipe: 1000g flour (I use whatever: bread flour, all purpose, whole wheat, etc) 600g warm water (~100 degrees F) 30g active dry yeast 20g salt Mix water and yeast together and let sit for 5-10 mins until frothy, then add all ingredients together until combined. Knead for 5+ mins, until bread passes the "window pane test" when stretched thin. Let rise in a warm place until doubled, then punch down and shape into loaf. Let rise again, around an hour. Preheat oven to 450, cook bread for 15 mins, then kick temp down to 425 and cook for another 15 mins or until bottom of bread makes a "hollow" sound when tapped.

Tough day...did not have the emotional bandwidth to do dinner...found the latest video you'd put out specifically because you are such an encouragement! But this down in the trenches together video was more than I could have hoped for 💜 Aaaand we have the same Jane Austen mug! Love it! love your videos!! they are fun and uplifting on all we can do to save money in this bad economy...we go to the local food pantry. wow. it helps us so much. we are retired and old. this last time i got a roast,a big tube of ground hamburger and two big bags of fish sticks...then tons of other good stuff. we just bought a hoop house for 54$ from amazon. we are going to get to planting seedlings for inside the hoop house for a good garden. looking forward to alot of garden this year. also theres a free produce program here in town once summer starts. Your bread is beautiful!

You keep it real Hillary! Love it! I agree with not showing your kids on camera. There are just too many weirdos out there stalking. We also never show our grandkids on any type of social media either, too risky. I feel sorry for the kids whose parents constantly post pictures of their kids or grandkids - if they only knew what some ppl do with those pics!

Loved seeing your garden. More of that please. I am planting a big garden this year with raised beds for the first time. Have a lot starts from seed that a kind lady from Pay nothing group gifted me. Hope to make her proud and have lots of plants to show her from her gifted seeds!

Thank you for sharing. My kids are grown and I don't remember (and that could be good or bad...lol) how i did it. Nevertheless, very rewarding. My daughter would entertain herself with old pots and wooden spoons or alphabet magnets on our metal cabinets (still have them) when I was in the kitchen. 😊 (just thought I would share a memory)

Love that you keep the kids out of your videos. As much as I would love to see their cute little faces. I also respect that their safety is taking priority. You can never be too careful these days. Side note, I don't know if you've ever mentioned this frugal tip before. I bought the Dawn power wash dish soap spray bottle a couple years ago, and have been refilling it using the giant dish soap I bought at Sam's club. A bottle only uses a few drops of soap, and rubbing alcohol. Then fill the rest with water. It has helped us conserve our dish soap. My family loves it!

we found the kirklands and luvs brand of disposable to be our favorite =). 3 years with long hair now and I still haven't figured out how to braid....I'm good at the man-bun now though :D.
