Totally agree on the grid being an irritation. I have been playing a lot of Anno 1800 lately and the grid is really killing the fun. Even trains only run up down and sideways and make 90 degree turns.
Endzone 2 in Q1 '24 ? That is... fast... So i am thinking basically building on Endzone 1 but adding a fair chunk and changing some of the gameplay, but not a complete rebuild, i mean, to do the whole damn thing anew that fast would be quite a feat indeed. In any case, i enjoyed Endzone, i will welcome it with open arms. Republic of Pirates looks like Tropico Pirate's Cove meets Anno, which is not a bad thing by any means.
Trailer studios... Like The Day Before nonsense. Look how well that went. >.> I think it was a good call not including them, better to highlight companies that look like they're properly putting in the work.
Are you the Mojo voice person? Your voice is very soothing, you should look into Radio, audiobook, or some type of profession where you use your elegant voice. Very Jelly lol
When you were nerding out HARD about gridless roads and not building squares and then right after get to Pirate Republic and the trailer puts together a city that looks like an excel sheet :D And the little griffin
Lovely video ! When I watch a video like this I realise I didn't play enough of the games that came out this year or before ! Heart of the Machine looks very interesting, I'll be following that one for sure. And I'm also sure there will be a lot of Against the Storm in 2024 for me :D
I've been searching for a city builder to replace my... long term engagement... (ahem, I'm not addicted)... with Forge of Empires. I saw a video today about Ostriv. It appears to be like what you showed of Manor Lords. A compare/contrast video would be welcome.
Well, that was fun. Hey, in case you haven't heard, you have a nice voice. 🙂 Coming from a singing teacher. Lots of resonance. Technical note: your audio and video are a bit out of sync in places...a little distracting. But I worked hard and concentrated, and paid attention to the content. A few of those titles sounds like they're up my alley -- I'll be paying attention. New sub here. Thanks!
Thank you for the compliments! As for audio, I'm really not sure what happened. The tracks on the file are in sync and aligned, so I'm wondering if something happened during upload. My apologies.
I agree with you. I'm a fan of grid-less roads. Real roads from any era are never completely in a grid, and the freedom to make sweeping roads with bends and such is fantastic. Geometry can be useful, and sometimes fun, but not that fun. I think the only one i think you didn't mention off the top of my head was New Cycle, which you have checked out on this channel. And I believe that release date is January 18 2024, as long as it actually comes out on that date. But regardless for me, I'm most excited about New Cycle, Frostpunk 2, Manor Lords of course, and Dynasty of the Sands, which I didn't even know was a thing till this video. So thank you for that. Much Love.
Grinning like a loon cos a game I suggested has hooked its car onto the Ren hype-train! Gonna be a busy year, look forward to more reviews and entertainment
I'm not super great with PC stuff but I have a 5800X3D CPU and a 2090 GPU (probably need to upgrade that). Hang on, I'll ask my tech savvy friends for you.
And I quote: "Idk something like a r5 7600 and rx 6600xt would make an alright system with good future upgrade potential. A 7800x3d would be best but also more expensive" - from the friend who built my PC
Wonderful video! I guess I have to try "Airborne Kingdom" some time. "Fantastic Haven" went straight to my wishlist. I don't know if they qualify, because they are both already available in Early Access, but two games that I would highly recommend - and which both fit in the Fantasy category - are "Fabledom" and "Pioneers of Pagonia". "Fabledom" is a whimsical fantasy city builder with flying piggies, giant beanstalks and friendly giants, while "Pioneers of Pagonia" is the newest game by Volker Wertich, who made the original "The Settlers" and feels like a true successor to that classic. And it has gridless roads 😉
Just tumbled on to your video (and channel) and got stuck... Nice, soothing voice, captivating vocabulary, promising content... and then I saw the feder in the background... --> new subscriber
Okay flattered and called out that you nailed i would love Fantastic Haven. It looks adorable and amazing and very much up my street, I shall also be glued to updates about that game
My most anticipated title is certainly Frostpunk 2. I absolutely loved the first one and have like 300 hours on it while trying every permutation possible on every scenario. I think you should have included New Cycle, it lloks promising at least from the coverage that TactiCat has given it so far, it's like a Farthest Frontier and Fallout baby
I have all these games on my wish list, but Manor Lords, Dynasty of the Sands and The Crust are my top three games I'm looking forward playing in 2024!
Do you know what is refreshing and absent from your videos.... the outlandish hyperbole in practically every sentence and comment about every single game... no, wait. There it is. Yep, there, too. Yup... actually I love it, I'm sorry, but it's fantastic, ... But, overall, lots of good game news.
Amazing Video, this was very helpful for me to get in the loop of upcoming titles. Quick shameless plug, me and my team also working on an upcoming city/base building game thats on alien planets called Stellar Settlers, but we didn't make the cut into the video :)
I haven't received very good news about Frust Punk 2; it looks like 2024 will be disappointing for Frust Punk fans. However, I'm excited about Manor Lords!
Looking forward to Republic of Pirates. I've played Tropico 2: Pirates Cove extensively and I hope this is a worthy successor. Thanks for letting me know about it!
warning on Dynasty of sands., the devs last game surviving the abyss was abandoned in EA to make dynasty of sands, there was a bit of a backlash and they have promised Abyss isn't abandoned and they will finish it off but basically it didnt sell enough so they dropped it. wouldnt risk buying anything from them again until its finished.
I agree with you about Endzone 2, when I found out that they’re releasing the sequel I was apprehensive at first but I read the blog post and engaged with the discussion on discord and attempt. I found enough satisfying answers and responses that dissuade my concern, enough that I backed it on kickstarter as well. Admittedly I enjoyed Endzone 1 too much and no other colony survival scratch the same itch.
Played the manor lords demo in Oct 22 and it was pretty decent. Hopefully the year and a half since then till release they'll have added tons more features and really fleshed it out. Only thing that comes to mind that needed a good amount of work yet was the combat.
I love gridless builder games. I always think it seems to be ocd people, usually men, who love grids 😂. Okay for modern stuff, but ancient villagers didn't build in squares 😊
1. You need time stamps or dividers/titles of some kind to cue the viewer; too confusing. 2. Challenge the staleness in this genre. If I see another Dorf take off or another Factorio... That saying, I'm glad you looked into Crust and Heart of the Machine. Fantastic Haven has a Disney look to it... not sure that's a good thing... unless it's for children primarily? Manor Lords could be the best of the bunch... depends on what part of the genre you prefer, of course.
