I bought the NSpanel after watching your first video Mark. All is running smoothly. This new blueprint update is definitely worth using and that's what I did. Nice to have the new features. A big thanks to you.
Very interesting Mark, I have held off getting one of these panels as I was unconvinced that placing one on the wall would be a better way to interact with HomeAssistant than using my phone. However whilst watching the video it occurred to me that it would be an interesting use case to use one to control my come cinema room.... blinds, lights, projector, source selection, sound etc. So given that I can place one next to my seating position in the home cinema room I think I might get one now.
I just got a US version white and did the install last night inspired from your previous video. Issue with tft update not working but was able to resolve by scouring the github forums. I also realize you can just pop off the relay and wire in via 5V USB direct to the pins on panel and use in low voltage applications. Should be possible to surface mount on wall, just with a hole to provide 5V.
Hey, nice video and I am very close of buying a NSPanel but I have one last question - may be you can help me with that. I think the answer is no but I want to be 100% sure. Is there a way to include some video feeds? Like from a door camera or any other outdoor camera may be even baby cams - as soon as they are integrated into home assistant. Thanks in advance.
It’s a great little project to have a play with. There’s a great written guide on the project repo, I’ll also be creating a simpler HOW TO style video in the next few weeks.
These awesome videos by Mark have convinced me to buy a couple more of these lovely panels. But here a question: Does the US version provide any more "realestate" since it is bigger or is it essentially the same and only brings (potentially) some more difficulties since it's not as popular and hence not as well supported as the EU version?
The only real difference is the screen size/ratio. I'm still using this and it all works amazingly till this day. I've seen he's also updated the HMI screen firmware but I think that is Tasmota specifically. There is a reason these are still around 50 US while the napanel pro (arm version) had issues out the gate but seems like you can get HA companion app (minimalist version) to install by updating WebView. Those used to be 100 or more, now they are 80 or so but the fact that they're still being manufactured till this day must mean they are popular. You can also install openHASP or some HASP version on them also. Still, with the blueprint this thing is a breeze to set up. I think ESPHome officially supports LVGL now in some form. LVGL works amazingly on my m5stack M5Dial.
hello Mark, and thank you for all your videos. I have a NSPanel that is currently flased with this blueprint. Everything works well but I would like to restore it to the stock firmware. I have googled a lot but I wasnt able to find a TFT file and clear indications related the restoring process. Could you please provide a bit of help on this? Thanks!
thanks, Mark! The video is great and the project is fantastic! Kudos to you and all the team that contributed! Question: Is it possible to use the US model with a horizontal "landscape" orientation?
I’m not 100% sure about the landscape option for the US panel. Again I imagine it will be possible especially with help and support from the community :)
The fact this panel cost less than 50 euro, makes it quite a good panel to use with home-assistant. Do you know if it also supports slider entities. to control brightness?
I really like this project but just cant get it to work! I had 3 working some time ago but had to upload the .tft files directly via the Nextion app. After some ESPHome updates they all stopped working just displaying the initializing page. I've just had another go deleting all automations and blueprint in HA. Re flashing the panel with the latest files and using a new latest version of the blueprint in HA. Now I have a single panel that starts up showing the IP address the esp and tft versions (tft 3.1.0) and it then boots into the home screen. But all the blueprint/automation will do is change the date and time format, nothing else works! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Very nice. Good Job. Is it possible to have more temerature screens for each rooms? I would like to controll more infra panels in different rooms with different temerature sensors. Is it possible on NS Panel, or do I need to buy Pro model?
Great video Mark. I really like the relay failback feature. In my scenario i have smart lights on the ceiling which i still want to control if WiFi is off. Does anyone know how to implement this solution to another Sonoff devices (such as the T1 switch). When i configure an automation in HA and the button is active, the relay activates as well.
When I bought it months ago, the plastic notches that make the panel to stick to its mounting frame broke off the second time I removed if from the wall. Did anyone experience the same issue? Or do you know if it got fixed in newer hardware versions?
Time for a new video... with 3.3 built in icon selection by name now, no more cutting and pasting weird characters. I would suggest going into detail how to upgrade it... I had to upgrade three things: the blueprint, esphome, and tft file to get it all working. Blueprint renaming the current one to a different name, and importing new blueprint is best way... all old settings were retained.
How do you get past the compile/install step? Whenever I try to install I get cmake errors like the github repo isn't there any longer....any tips? is this broken or user error?
Thank you! A great job! Unfortunately I have changed the firmware of the NSPanel and the display to Tasmota. Where can I get the original firmware for the display so I can use this blueprint? I can't find it anywhere.
@@MarkWattTech Correct, but for the project I tried, I also had to flash the Nextion display. Since then, ESPHome no longer works because the display cannot be addressed. Very annoying...
@@MarkWattTech the thermostat page breaks randomly (and turns into German - ein) and icons randomly disappear. I will post pics on your Facebook channel. Cheers Mark 👍🏼
Can you give any more detail on how to make use of the "long press" feature please? I just watched this and tried to create an automation for when "Last Click" changes, but this triggers for regular presses and not long presses.
@@BlackYmas Got it, thanks! If you could incorporate icons to other areas (such as tiles) into 3.2 that would be great too! Right now its only in the entity table.
Hi always an informative video. Has anyone tried this panel in the US there is a lot of comments saying they don’t fit in US electrical boxes. Trying to find out if this is true before purchasing thanks
Hello. I have a problem with the update .ttf package. I tried everything possible on the net, I found that I should change the UART to 9600, it didn't help. I tried Tasmota, something was recorded there. The blueprint works, the physical buttons work as I set them in the blueprint
@@BlackYmas Hmmm.... I just ordered the Pro, I know I can install the companion app, but am curious. In your opinion is the Pro+companion app as good as non pro esphome?
@@asperkins they are generally two different things. I like the NON Pro version better. I can customize everything through esphome as I need it. The non pro also has 2 releases which the pro does not. These releases can be switched even if HA or wifi is down. Personally I find the pro version harder to set up and you don't get as much information on one page. But as I said in the end everyone has a nder preference. I personally went for the non pro version and equipped my whole house with it.
