I had a look at the platinum and amount of hours, some excel spreadsheets and was like nope lol. I hate feeling like I’m a completionist with limited amount of hours in the day lol

16 for action, 7 remake for a proper final fantasy game but maybe a bit dull in parts, 15 for mod as good but open world and 14 for an mmo, none have to be played in order they’re completely different games

Each numbered version is totally different, you don't need to play 6 to understand 16. Some things transfer over, like Chocobos, Moogles, currency and potions etc, but every game is standalone unless it's something like 13 and 13-2 or X/X-2 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 16 are the best games, X and X-2 are decent but can be very annoying, 13 is hot trash, 15 is OK, some of the others are online only. Spin offs like Tactics and World Of FF are really for fans familiar with the universe, but newbies can enjoy them, they just won't really get a lot of the fan service lore and in-jokes. Start with 7, whether it's the original remaster, or FF7 Remake + Rebirth. You'll know after playing that whether you want to play more. Personally I got bored of the remake after about 5 hours, but the original is one of my all time favourites. All depends on you whether you like the arcadey feel of the remake over the old school style of the original. They're all on Plus so it's a worth a try. FF9 is my favourite, but I'd not recommend going into that one first, it can be a bit frustrating.

Each numbered title is an entirely separate game and narrative and world. So you can legitimately start with any of them and you will not be lost. I started with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and fell in love with it and I'm gonna continue with that. But I would just research them and see which one interests you the most. If you like action combat then you would want to do 15, 16, or the 7 remake. If you like slower turn-based combat then anything before 14 would be good. Story-wise if you like really deep game of thrones style narratives with deep world lore, I hear 16 is amazing. But if you want a snappy, more blockbuster movie style narrative with a more anime type story then 7 remake is fantastic. I'm still new so I don't know much about the stories of the other games. (P.S. Final Fantasy 14 is literally just a Final Fantasy version of World of Warcraft, so you can skip that unless you are an MMORPG fan)
