I’ve been thinking pirate missions would work well for a long time. I also think intercepting drug smugglers in boats and narco subs would be great. Coast guard missions please!
Honestly, I don't think they should add more missions. But hear me out here. I think that they need to expand the modding/editor capabilities to allow modders to work better with the Stormworks API to add new missions/objectives. I think there are TONS of potential ideas for missions, like the 10 ones you mentioned. And I think it's best to open it up better to modders so that there can be a very diverse set of options for missions. You also can tailor your experience a bit more to what kinds of things you like. Checkout LCPDFR. It is a mod for GTA that essentially allows you to be a police officer. You can then add mods made for LCPDFR that add new "callouts", which essentially is new missions/tasks. If I like doing high speed pursuits I can add more callouts related to that. If I like dealing with domestic disputes, I can add mods related to that. There are even some mods that do some massive tweaks. Like a coastguard mod that allows you to basically be a coastguard SAR operator. Allowing you to do things like repelling from the helicopter and loading patients into a basket and everything. There is so much potential if Stormworks allowed modders proper access to this. There are already some mods out there that enhance/improve/add missions to the game. I think if the support for doing this was better, then you'd see more modders tackling it. I'd rather modders work on these kinds of things, and have the devs focus on core game improvements. Whether that be fixing the broken muiltiplayer, improving physics, improving performance, or whatever!
i dont like the search and destroy. find the hostage and take everyone els out is seal team stuff and i wouldent like to see that sort of thing in the game. that being said id like to see improved quality and controls when in stormy weather like with swimming and everything that gose with that and making the rescue craft work better
I think there's already a "find the missing fella" and "disaster evacuation" missions so maybe they could just revamp those missions. Overall though, I think your suggestions plus a balancing of the current missions would be fun. The only suggestion I would add is that all of the missions have a chance of being "an unknown call" where you get the call but don't know what the emergency is and you have to get there and figure it out, but those same missions also have a chance of spawning in normally. Overall, good video!
I also think smuggling missions could be a cool aspect, maybe having to stop a fast boat or narco-sub from a helicopter, and apprehend the person and cargo. Another thing could be a timer for hostage rescues, if the timer goes out the hostages die and the mission ends (or a ransom could be held with the same effect).
These missions would be cool but they would also need to pay well. Currently I never go for the small missions that only save a few people because the fuel to get there costs more than the reward. Also large ship evacuations involving ~20 people would be fun and they would give an incentive to building big rescue ships.
Capsized vessel rescue should be a no-brainer! Half the ships you come across are often capsized! As for pirate/hostage mode, while I like that idea, the developers have stated that they will not improve the AI in the game multiple times.
The pirate idea does not affect ai behavior, they just shoot at you (which they already do with the Weapons Ai)! It just adds an existing element to missions!
