Love this video! You exhibited your personal brand of genius as well as your fun side here. I have to say the 2X4 Lap Steel was really impressive (and my favorite.)
@musicalmiscellany Yeah, I build basses and guitars. Also percussion stuff. I never even thought about how easy it would be to make a lap steel. I am definitely gonna do that.
I LOVE your bass. That really rocks. Lyres are cool. I've made three -- one from a discarded one-inch pine shelf (with plywood soundboard), one from an old cutting board (this one is just scooped out, no soundboard) and one from a 3/4 inch plywood corner from a kitchen remodel that looks a little more like a harp. Guitar tuning pegs for ease or retuning.
Thanks for checking it out. I really do enjoy cigar box guitars. I think they're often overlooked as toys but they're serious instruments that sound really good.
I feel good about buying kits now I struggle on my own building but like trying the pizza paddle and the 2x4 lap Steele are cool the little box for sound effects way beyond my building ability
Thanks for watching the video. DIY can be as simple or complex as you want. Kits are great for learning how things work and honestly... several of my favorites are kits. As you get more comfortable, try some of your own designs. Just make sure you always have fun doing it.
Being of the fretless variety, it requires a good ear for when the note you’re playing is in pitch or not. But as was mentioned, all of the strings have their own tuners. All standard orchestral violins, violas, cellos and basses all have tuners and are fretless. But even guitars and such come in fretless varieties!
Thanks for checking it out. I know folks tend to call a 2-string guitar a chugger but I'm not sure that applies to a 2-string bass. I suppose I could call it whatever I want. LOL. Thanks again.
Dude I loved this video you are amazingly creative and clever iam an ex drug addict bass player who's last rig made a one way trip to pawn town and im learning harmonica im a hobo and sober
Thanks for watching the video. Harmonica is a great instrument. Very expressive, fun to play, and easy to transport. Wishing you all the best and congrats on your long sobriety.
Thanks for watching. I actually made that drone box from 2 kits. One kit that was designed to be a delay circuit and another with 3 oscillators. It's not as difficult as you think but yeah... not a beginner task either.
I want to see acoustic instruments that can be built with household items, Not amped instruments built with kits and spare parts. I liked your didgeridoo video

@@musicalmiscellany you're welcome for the tip. Here's a link to a video that shows how to apply cotton and rosin ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CXLz05mUTmI.html I really enjoyed your video. I love homemade instruments.
They’re all so awesome!! I want to make an electric lyre from scratch and was wondering where you would recommend to get the pickup and hardware? Thanks!!
That's a good suggestion. If I was to create a harp, I'd probably try to figure out a way to put geared tuners on it because zither pins are just annoying to tune.
i just made my first instrument i made a shaker out of a whiskey bottle. I got a pretty good sound out of it. Now I want to make something else. I really want a jarmageddon but its sold out online :(
@@DoodMangSpeaks The didley spoon has a piezo disc pickup mounted to the bottom of the soundboard. It seems to amplify the string pretty well and doesn't feedback too badly. Check out this vid if you haven't already: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FLWsK7_q3uI.html
I've sold a handful of them and given away a few but I end up keeping most of them. I've always thought about selling them on Etsy or something. Thanks for watching.
