Soundtrack for Iron Meat is made by Darkman007 who is also made music for several other games like Invasion, Void Source, Super Cyborg, The Explorer of Night, Frakktus and Zombie Hunters Arena. He is also composing covers for classic game themes and making his own metal and chiptune music. A very talented guy.
Thank you, I appreciate the support. I've only been doing this for about 10 months, so I suppose we'll see how we go. Much more to come. Welcome to the channel!
Hey Video Games Forever....thank you so much this amazing list...i can see you have putting up loads of hard work to bring these amazing things forth...least we can do is SUB you!! Props to ya!! 👏🏻✊🏻🤘🏻
Solid list! I do have all of these on my Switch already, except for Zangyura, which I shall remedy soon. I just wish I had more time to actually play them all!
I used to play Shadow of the Ninja a lot with my dad back in the late 90s. When I saw the remake, I instantly bought a physical copy for the Switch. Great game.
Very cool list, I have and know some but a lot of these were new to me. It would have been great if you mentioned which one has a physical release as many fans of the genre would only buy these.
@@Video_Games_Forever The very first looks amazing (edit, shadow of the Ninja), buying it from Steam now. I bought Iron Meat from Epic a couple days back as I had enough rewards to cover it and it's been a lot of fun. On normal I am already through it though, will try hard next. Was fun unlocking all the different character looks. I also preferred the retro music option in that one. Going to be checking out more of your vids soon, this is the sort of content I just love! Thanks again.
@@teddym2808 Yeah, Iron Meat is so much fun. Like I say in the video, I'd have loved it as a kid, and I love it now. Enjoy Shadow of the Ninja. It can seem quite tough to start with, but stick with it and it really rewards your patience.
@@Video_Games_Forever I think you might like Ganryu 2, specifically only the PC version as that's the one that performs at a solid FPS. It has some weird restrictions and has been judged overly harshly for things like no controller remapping and being hard, but if you put all that aside and just play the game, the controls are tight as anything and it's actually a brilliant action platformer. It really is. It looks and sounds great too. The other one is Return of the Ninja Warriors which is now also on Steam. Amazing game and update of the SNES version. If you are into shooters, you can't go past andro dunos 2, I spent 37 hours with that one so I could finally 1 life it on hard. My favourite 2D shmup at the time and in my overall top 10 ever. Soundtrack is AMAZING. BTW did you ever play Huntdown? I gave that one 23 hours of play time and enjoyed every second. Was my favourite game of the year at the time. One of the best run and gun platform action games ever made. Finally (for now lol), another fantastic one with a killer soundtrack and more powers as you progress is Infinite: Beyond the Mind. Check that out too IMO. Sheer action platformer with some minor exploration to find bonuses, and boy later levels get challenging but in a good way. I like mentioning Infinite as no one ever talks about it and it's little known but very solid.
@@teddym2808 Ganryu 2, Huntdown and Return of the Ninja Warrior are all excellent, and I've covered them all in three separate previous videos, funnily enough! But I didn't know about the other two you mention, so thank you, I'll check them out!
I do like your channel, and your content. It has a 90's feel, the games you talk about and recommend. I must say I do like the vocabulary you use. You appear to be genuine in your reveiw of the the games. Some really great suggestions here I may take a wonder to the ps store on pay day. Also your channel is a refreshing turn away from the current gaming industry politics with DEI been pumped into games. This reminds me that games are still fun.
Thank you kindly, I appreciate it. Everything you see in the video is me playing the games - which is why it looks like the player-character is struggling so often! If I don't feel I can recommend the game, it doesn't make the cut, and that happened with several games before I settled on a final ten. Hopefully there's enough that a lot of people will see something they like. Thanks again, you're very welcome at the channel!
Great list! Some real gems and others I had not even heard of. Should you ever do a follow-up, consider: Hundown, Katana Zero, Blazing Chrome, and Cyber Shadow. Just to name a few.
Thank you very much. I actually have both Huntdown and Blazing Chrome featured in one of my earlier videos for five excellent run and gunners. They're great games - and so are Cyber Shadow and Katana Zero. I'm discovering more hidden gems all the time, so there'll certainly be a follow-up video at some point. In the meantime, thanks for watching!
A great video as usual! =) Moonrider is the only game on the list that I've completed. It feels old school but accessible with it's upgrade system. Even if I enjoy action platformers I'm quite bad at them. I have played a few levels of Gunlord X but it never really stuck with me and mostly felt frustrating with it's huge levels. Was also planning on picking up Shadow of the Ninja Reborn on release but after trying the demo and not even being able to complete that I gave up the plan. I may get on sale at a later time though. I'm going to pick up Iron Meat when me and my co-op buddy have time to play it.
Hello! It's true that Shadow of the Ninja takes some getting used to, but give it time - and when you've unlocked a few bonus items - it becomes an addictive little challenge. They do need to sort that item select thing out, though. Iron Meat is so much fun, and it looks and sounds brilliant. I really hope you enjoy it. Thanks, as ways, for watching!
I feel like Gunlord is blend that doesn't mix very well. Like you said, the levels are huge... but it's also very challenging. What works well is very challenging + straightforward levels that aren't too long. Or medium challenging + large expansive levels. But mixing very challenging + large expansive levels is a combination that really only appeals to a very specific niche. And I'm pretty good at these types of games, have beaten tons of them and no shortage of them on the highest difficulties (not a lot for a while, but I did that regularly until well into my 20's... but with less free time now it's usually Asian Action-RPG's that I usually play on hard or harder from the start).
I’d consider myself “hardcore gamer I guess “ I’m also old now Most lists are meh or seen it all before but this list! Is genuinely bloody great 👍I only know 2 games from this list. The rest never heard about cheers
Good question. I think you can play all of them without a right analogue stick, except for Blast Brigade, Fury Unleashed and Gunlord X (because of the secondary weapon). I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Ha, thank you! Yeah, sadly those two games are just on the PlayStation and Switch at the moment, but I really hope we see PC conversions. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad those games on not on PC. It at least will persuade people to buy other platforms just to play them similar to Viewtiful Joe, Madworld, Muramasa, The House of the Dead: Overkill, and Dragon's Crown, all of which are not on PC and must be bought through consoles only.
Some of these look like gold and half of these I haven't even known about so thank you so much for that! Sadly what looks totally awesome is Gunlord X, but the borders on the side is a dealbreaker for me with any game which really is a shame... Thank you so much for these!!
I'm pleased to say that you can turn the borders off in the options, or rather, dull them to 0% so they just become black. You can even adjust the screen to entirely fit your TV or monitor screen ratio, and adjust the scanline intensity, or turn them off altogether. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
I was gonna start on Itorah, but my desktop's PSU ran into problems. (the start menu music is cool, was just looking around in main menu and the options/settings. Just so happens that I was intending to start the playthru on a weekend instead of weekday) It's since been fixed, but I went and played Bloodstained 1st. Anyway, seems I was right to get Itorah. And on GOG. 👍
All beautiful games that I will want to have on my Steam. Gunlord-X looks like an AMIGA game. I loved Super Zangyura, but it's not available for Steam 😭😭😭😭
I covered Aggelos in a previous video for five great pixel art games - that's brilliant fun. I need to try the other two, so thanks for the recommendations.
I've actually heard of most of these and played some of them (also do intend to get Kage on a good deal). For Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider... I thought it was kinda average overal. It's a bit of a blend between Mega Man X and Shinobi 3, but not as good as either of them in any area and the controls really are a bit too clunky for the kind of game it is. And the subweapon and chip systems are just really rough, unpolished and unbalanced. For the sub weapon there's no reason to use anything outside of the tentacle once you have it and with only 2 chip slots, 1 is pretty much permanently reserved for the double jump when you get it and the other one will likely go for the extra range. Should've had passive chips that permanently increase your abilities on unlock (which you can turn off if you wish). Gunlord I tried to play, but ah... it was just too hard. I just kept dying over and over. I'm referring to the regular version of the game, btw. Never played the X version. While the game is a feast for the eyes, I'd rather play something like Mega Turrican that's just more straightforward and a lot more accessible (despite still being very challenging).
Fair points all. I wouldn't say Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is as good as Shinobi. That's still a high bar to clear after all these years, and I'm intrigued to see the approach SEGA take with the upcoming reboot/remake. But Gunlord X has really grown on me over time and I enjoy blasting through that. I never played the non-X version, though, so maybe they have toned things down a bit?
@@Video_Games_Forever Could be. Though honestly I probably won't try since I just have too many other good games to play. Even for just 2D action platformers there's well over a dozen I'd want to play before getting to this one.
Thank you! And you're right; indie games are often passion projects that have fun at their very core - a notion triple-A developers often seem to overlook. Thanks for watching!
I played originall shadow of the ninja in my childhood , and replayed it a few months ago . Old game was pretty cool , i liked the music , gameplay and the art style . I can recognise some old bosses , areas and music in remake , and i guess creators of remake refresh those boses pretty well , i can recognise them in remake and now they look a more detailed . But honestly I'm not a fan of that cartoonish art style of remake , and music rework , it looks not serious .
something tells me it would never get past the classification stage if it was called syphilis sandwhich.😅 it would be banned for sure in australia with that name.
OMG! As a Belgian, I have to try Super Zangyura because...I can testimony that there is no possible doubt about the "weird boss" real life inspiration: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manneken_Pis The heck, I have never imagined to face him one day as a videogame boss, now one of my wildest dreams has even become true! 😂🤣
Haha! Yes, I know that little fellow well. There are little versions of him everywhere in the bars. Which is now making me think about excellent Belgian beer... Thanks for watching!
Yeah, it's kinda weird. Pretty much everything comes out on PC these days... Maybe a conversion will happen at some point in the future, if there's the demand for it.
consider not using titles like those. i’ve literally played 6/10 of these. PROBABLY never played is best. i understand i might be an exception, but it still comes off very patronizing
