Around seventy years ago when they were first envisioned, dive watches were an essential tool for divers to use underwater to track their dive time and therefore the amount of breathing gas they had to work with. Today, many prominent dive watches have evolved into something else altogether, sitting squarely within the world of luxury brands and products. In this video, I'll take a look at ten of the best luxury dive watches on the market. If you think I missed any, be sure to comment down below.

My Omega Seamaster Chrono is 22 years old. Still looks and works beautifully. Back in the year 2000, it was a tough reach. But 22 years later, I’m SO HAPPY I bought it. Since then, I’ve never been interested in a more luxury brand. The Omega filled that need inside me. So, these days, I’m more of BELOW $500 options. And based on my watch box, that has a fun way to collect. From Islander, Hamilton, Tissot, Seiko, Citizen, and even Victorinox, I’ve love exploring watch brands. Even my wife has enjoyed finding larger watches that fit her tiny frame. Who knew she would end up being a dive watch fanatic? Teddy, a great video. But for me, the Seamaster checked and still checks….ALL the boxes.

When I first saw the He escape valve on the Omega Seamaster, I didn't much care for it. But the more I see it, the more I like it, it gives the watch a unique character that seperates it from other dive watches.

@reverb508

@@naturalLin It's heavy, but that's not a problem for me; I like feeling the heft on my wrist. As for bulk, I don't think it's too bulky. It's definitely no dress watch, but the curves of the case make it sit well on the wrist. If you're interested, I'd say visit your local AD and try it on. My wrists are pretty small at around 6.75" and I think it fits great despite being a 43 mm watch.

Nice list. I've owned the Tudor BB and Omega Seamaster. They were both very nice watches. Currently I have the Glashutte Original SeaQ Panarama Date. Its a fantastic piece. Over six months it is the most accurate watch I've ever owned (+.33 sec. per day). The lume is also fantastic. It has a 100 hour power reserve, beautiful movement, nice double domed crystal, the bezel is precise and holds strong and the large date is great for my old eyes. Its not inexpensive but I believe, worth the price.

A list that I cannot argue with Teddy, great choices. I'll give you my personal top four of the ten in no particular order. - Tudor Pelagos, a tool watch designed as a tool watch and very comfortable to wear, super readable and arguably a modern classic. The fact it has not changed could be seen that there isn't much wrong with it as a 500M tool diver. A thinner version would be welcome but I'm not sure there would be much room to maneuver of they wanted to keep the 500M and auto escape valve. - Omega 300M, fantastic value for the money for a luxury brand, skeleton broadsword hands, ceramic wave dial, symmetry with the date at six, terrific case design and an elegant clasp that has the push button micro adjustment. My personal preference would be the white dial. - Rolex Submariner, preferably without the date. I don't think I need to justify this one. It's a modern incarnation of a classic. - Tudor Blackbay 58, Like the Omega 300M and Submariner it's a watch for all occasions.

I'm pleasantly surprised that a Black Bay that WASN'T the 58 was mentioned! One of the advantages of the BB line is, as Teddy mentioned, the variety of sizes, materials, and features available. But a minor quibble; the "Black Bay 41" mentioned is actually the larger, bezel-less model. I think Teddy meant the OG "Black Bay Heritage" model.
@trinity3422
@trinity3422 Год назад
You definitely called the case size options with the Tudor Pelagos in this video. Personally, I would’ve loved to pick a Tudor Pelagos in either size because it’s more of a tool watch, but what breaks it for me is the titanium. That’s a selling point for most, but if I’m wearing a tool watch I want to feel it on my wrist, I can’t feel the Pelagos on my wrist which if it falls off or is stolen, and I can’t feel it gone, what’s the point of the tool watch now. Just my opinion. I love it outside of that one aspect.

This is a nice list of dive watches indeed. If you talk about Germany and Glashütte, don't forget to look at the Nomos Ahoi Atlantik with or without date or the newer neomatik version of it. I own the Nomos Ahoi Atlantik with date and although the official depth guarantee is »only« 200 meters or 20 ATM, internal tests proved that the watch can stand way more than that. Every real diver knows that 40 to 60 meters is the range you are diving at unless you are a professional diver. The watch is just gorgeous to look at and the quality of the case and clockwork is top notch. As the back is with sapphire glas as well, you can watch how it works. Diameter is 40 mm - for me the right size, because anything larger than 41 mm is too big for my wrist. Price is at 3.600 Euros, but luckily I got mine second hand for less. Definitely a watch you can and should dive with.

Same, and I'd consider the Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Scubatec too. The Rado loses nothing compared to those other mass-market (even though Rado is more popular in some markets, in the USA and Europe I believe as a dive watch and to the general public Rado is more original of a choice) unoriginal choices and adds unique elements and USPs to go well ahead of them IMO. Far better value too. I mean compare Rado's ceramic monobloc case with transparent front and back to those ordinary cookie-cutter things! The Carl F. Bucherer is so much more exclusive, so refined and has arguably higher quality (well, measurably too since it's a certified chronometer) and better features (helium valve etc.) than those other super-boring choices and the price for all that is a steal.

It’s numbers surpass almost every watch mentioned in this video, as does its lume. Whether or not one prefers a helium escape valve should not be a factor when we’re specifically focusing on dive watches here. For the money the Omega 43.5 OP stands alone.

From a pure diving perspective I think the Pelagos tops this list due to its legibility, robustness and size. It’s the only luxury diver I actually like to dive with.

the breitling superocean does not seem to technically qualify as a dive watch, since lacking lume on the seconds hand means you have no indication the watch is working, which is one of the requirements for a dive watch

Blancpain is probably the best imo if you're budget free. The father of all modern dive watches. Rolex Submariner was a homage to the great Fifty-Fathoms, so Rolex kinda owe everything.

Granted, I've never seen one in person, but I think the Fifty Fathoms is ugly as hell. Looks cheaply finished and I hear the bezel action leaves a lot to be desired for a $10k watch.

Ahhh, ignorant mindless crackbrains. I have been in the timepiece industry for 30 more years i know what i'm saying. So my perspective will be different compared to someone who doesn't know things but act like they know. Of course in the end this is still just my opinion and my experience with the brands, i may be objective but subjective to the know-nothings.

@@reverb508 i'm sorry but Cartier Grand Seiko and Blancpain have the best bezel actions. Proven and tested. Rolex is near but if only they fix all their common QC issues. I'm tired of constantly sending the many Rolexes back to the service center for my clients. So many problems...

Just bought a blue Pelagos yesterday. It's the best actual diver in the Rolex family and at under $5k it's great value. Yes, the Submariner is the daddy of all sports watches, but it's less capable than the Pelagos. Doesn't matter since most will never get it wet let alone dive, but if you're looking for a legit expression of a dive watch check it out.

I did step into luxury dive watches a month ago with a Tudor Pelagos. Since day one i have problems with the bezel which feel of after 2 days just by turning and now after service in Rolex store I did go swiming and when I came out of water the bezel did not turn. Iam probably the only one with such problems with this beautifull watch. Watching this video I find Omega Seamaster 300 really good looking.
