youve been putting out some awesome videos on unique vehicles lately. Keep it up. I love hearing about vehicles that I otherwise wouldnt have known about
I also like vehicles other than cars. I hope we will see some agricultural vehicles aswell. Leyland SW-400 from polish harvester Bizon Z056 sounds really nice :).
This is why I've been enjoying your channel. I like the cars I already know about, I love the cars I didn't know about, I love the bikes (waiting for something new to me, I'll be surprised but ecstatic when you do find something I haven't seen) and then there's the worlds I didn't even consider which are just awesome. I've got few mates watching, even my Dad. Keep it up dude.
Never. The Chinese would never buy/steal a blueprint and make an exact copy of something so they can produce it for half the cost and twice the profits. That is a terrible thing to even imply that happens everyday.
Nice, big offroad fan here my favorites were the Tatra 815 and the Faun. I kind of missed something like a MAZ or ZIL. I would love to see a "the most capable offroad car/truck" video, a Pinzgauer should not be omitted. ;)
Well, it needs to be said, that not complete production of T813 was build in Slovakia, on Slovakia was build only one type of T813 truck. Other types was build elsewhere..
would have been good to mention that Tatra has modular platform that can go without problems up to 10x10 or even 12x12 with axles steered or fixed as needed.
I can't believe those Tatras had so much power and huge engines, yet were only air cooled!!!! that's cool, 1 less thing to go wrong, no water pump, or cooling leaks to worry about
Not all of them actually. Since 90's, Tatra has been offering trucks also with water cooled Deutz engine and now with the Phoenix, you can have the DAF unit. But they still produce their own angines and now they work on an air cooled Euro 6 engine.
The Deutz engine with it's separate rocker covers is just an unauthorized copy of the Tatra engine. Just another example of the way western companies ripped off engineering ideas from behind the iron curtain after ww2. I believe that Tatra has worked out some sort of licensing deal with Deutz now allowing them to keep producing them, but if the motor's in a Tatra and it looks like a Deutz engine, it's much more likely to be a modern Tatra engine, I hadn't ever heard that Tatra ever fitted Deutz engines, while I know that at one stage they did fit Detroit's and Caterpilars
+Sisek, why so 'rad'? Just the name of the town where they were made, like my 28 litre V8 engined generator was made by Waukesha engines in the town of Waukesha. Lots of stuff gets named after their town, just like Huskvarna from Sweden, except the town is Husqvarna and they changed the company name (motorbikes, chainsaws etc) in the eighties I think to avoid confusion between the town and the company.
Sorry, I had it backwards, yes the product/ company is Husqvarna, but the town name in Sweden is Huskvarna, look it up on Google maps, I just did to check which way round it is, I always get confused between them. It might have just been easier to leave them the same, but as I heard it the company didn't want to be confused with the town.
The greatest of offroad trucks is still Tatra. You could say something about its chassis, because its amazing, and i belive it was invented by Tatra. Not all people know, that this made Tatra so special But, my own favourite 8x8 truck, is Zil E134, because its so pure Soviet piece of work :D
The only one reason why Tatra appears in his videos because of author from Slovakia. Tatra is not good enough to be rival for MAN, Volvo, Oshkosh and etc.
I've sat in the Oshkosh M1070 from the first video. The shop the guys operate out of is about 10 miles from my house. They are a truly impressive trucks.
Some reasons might be: 1) It's so cool 2) Nobody I know has one 3) They're are huge & impressive 4) You'll make many new friends among the owners of gas-stations in your area...;-)
Awesome video as always! Although I am missing the amazing MAZ-537 and derivatives (driven by a 38.8L tank engine) and the ZIL-135, powered by 2 V8 engines mounted side by side: one driving the left side of the vehicle, and the other the right side!
in order to sell products on the chinese market, a foreign company has to partner with a chinese company. So Mercedes licensed the design alsong with the old 400 series V6 and V8 engines to beiben, they produce and sell them on the chinese market and Mercedes gets the money. So, it looks like a SK because it is one with other labels on it. You can even see the Font used on the sun visor is the Mercedes Font.
Hey guys I watched the video pretty neat, then we got to the American HEMTT truck in the video and THAT TRUCK IS MY TRUCK, ITS THE EXACT TRUCK SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY!!!! Now THAT is kind of cool!
Respect!
Great video as always! Some of these beasts make my old "hobby truck" look like a toy. For a time, I owned a surplus 1975 AM General 2 1/2 ton truck, all wheel drive. It was powered by a Continental Multi-fuel LD465 turbodiesel. The injection pump had a fuel density compensator that allowed you to burn a wide range of fuels if necessary. With the fording kit installed, you could cross water up to your nostrils as you sat in the driver's seat. Fuel economy, forget about it! One neat upgrade was to get rid of the dualies on the rear and convert to single tires on each axle, it would cut 10 feet (about 3 meters) off your turning radius.
Hey, Visio ! Your channel is really very interesting & informative. It often covers vehicles you else get to see very rarely; there is always something new for me to know. I highly appreciate that you don't use crappy music like it is done in almost all the other motor-related videos here on YT - extra-thanks for this ! My respect also goes out to you for reading out the text to the clips yourself, instead of having a stupid computer-voice doing so with absolutely no feeling for pronunciation and emphasis. So, thanks for uploading all these cool videos and keep up the good work !
I remember my dad telling me how he used to drive a hmtt in the army in the 80s,he always said it was weird to get used to after driving his trans am all day
Nothing, and I mean, nothing, can beat a good old Tatra 813 in the mud, it's just brilliant. Also the man kat, beautiful truck. We use them alot in the UK for our millitry
There is a different between AWD and 4WD, 4WD gives an equal power for each wheel while the AWD gives the power as needed for the wheel. AWD is used for street and icy roads, while 4WD is used for off roads. So 4WD not equal AWD.
The tan truck is a hemtt cargo truck with a 15k self loading crane, all hydraulic movements of crane and out riggers, made to payload up to 20ton in the bed, and has a caterpillar inline 6 in it if it is an A4 variant which you can tell easily by if it has air ride suspension on it
I would love to see all these trucks go head to head in extreme off road, hill climb and mud bog competition courses. I have watched HEMMET (LVS MK48) trucks drive over 1.2 meters of mud for nearly a hundred meters and drive out again and drive up hills over 35 degrees of slope with 20 tons slung on the bed and not bat an eye.
I live in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Several friends of mine work at the Oshkosh Corporation and build these trucks. I see them on the road daily. The specs you obtained must be quite old, because the Detroit 2-stroke hasn’t been used for almost 40 years. They’re too noisy, thirsty, and dirty. Everything is 4-stroke, emissions compliant now. I’ve actually driven two of the models you’ve featured in this video.
Interesting fact: Oshkosh was founded in Oshkosh Wisconsin by William Besserdich. Besserdich previously worked for the FWD company, the company who developed and patented the CV joint (refered to as the steer drive joint) and in turn built some of the first 4x4 vehicles used commercially (and subsequently gave rise to the Front Wheel Drive).
Another Excellent Presentation by you, well done. one Tip its M - A - N not just Man, Volkswagens - Truck - Company, build near Hanover in Deutschland/Njemetzkacca ....
KKs ty si vážne Slovák? ja ta sledujem už značnú dobu a teraz že "maj homlend slovakia" :D Ale fakt je to že Tatrovka je Koprivnica či? niečo mi uniklo?
The airport 8×8's need the 2 engines, 1 to move the fire apparatus at a fast speed and the other to power the pumps Notice the fast acceleration and stability of the air- port crash trucks loaded with water.
