I'm ecstatic that you put Pioneer Chicken on the list! Being from Los Angeles, I grew up on their food (their spicy rice is chef's kiss). Nothing against Popeyes but they don't hit the same way as Pioneer does, and they're way too expensive. Thanks for covering this iconic LA staple/OG food spot 😊
It's a real shame that as a lover of fried chicken I sadly missed out on these great places for fried chicken. I would have loved to try Yogi's honey fried chicken. At least we still have KFC''s. I wished I could make fried chicken at home but I only know two ways to cook chicken, bake them to perfection or boil them for soup
Is Piccadilly Cafeteria still around? I went there when I was 14 and I was shocked to see a cafeteria that served food that most people actually wanted to eat.
Since all these chicken chains all had to compete against KFC at the time, and lost, now KFC has new competition with Popeye's, Rasing Cane's, Chick-Fil-a, Bojangles, Zaxby's, Slim Chickens, and Jollibee. Boston Market just filed for bankruptcy, and could probably shut their remaining restaurants.
Boston Market had good food but they had a bunch of non food related issues which led to them filing for bankruptcy. They probably thought that filing it would solve they issues lol
Oh, what about Hats 🤠 or more commonly known as Jungle-style🌴🍗 chicken? My mom used to go there in San Fernando, California, in the 70’s. She said they used to fry their chicken and hang it on hooks then re-fry it once you ordered it. So it would be double-fried and extra crispy! She said it was the best-fried chicken ever!
The week we were going to eat at Kenny Rodger’s in Columbus, IN and, suddenly one night it was still up and running and, the next night we were going to eat there they were all of a sudden closed!
