I was on a vacation last week in PA and got to see bunches of barn swallows and indigo buntings, and several eastern bluebirds as well, so beautiful to watch them flying around ❤

This video highlights the importance of keeping/maintaining natural habitats for birds,such as the Thrashers and Catbirds. We have a tree/thick brush line out front and see Brown Thrashers and Catbirds darting in and out of that area. The Brown Thrashers are very striking in appearance. As always, keeping a clean water source is necessary too… Thank you, Mark.

Mark I saw a rose breasted Grosbeak the other day. He hung around for awhile, he looked like the one on your shelf. I guess that's the male, I haven't seen one in a couple of years and suddenly there he was the cutthroat, so cool.....

Beautiful birds. I wish they would visit feeders more often.

I was able to identify all of them except one - the Great Crested Flycatcher. Hopefully, I can spot one of these my next hiking trip.

I have Brown Thrashers and they sometimes take the peanuts I put out for the squirrels & Blue Jays. I also see them under my hanging woodpecker log because the seeds drop underneath the bushes. Very pretty birds

Oh my goodness I just commented on the hawk stream and this one is perfect. I hope you see this as we have the hooded oriole,sparrow and verdins that are using my hummingbird feeder. Do I need to get a second feeder for the bigger birds?. Thank you again from Rams Hill in Borrego Springs Ca❤️🙏

That would an awesome. You may want to get an oriole nectar feeder as it has larger ports and perches.

When a pileated woodpecker creates a nest, will it return to that nest the following spring?
@MarksBackyardBirds
@MarksBackyardBirds 4 месяца назад
In general, cavity nesting birds drill several cavities and move around to avoid predators by staying in one place too long.

How fast can hummingbirds fly?
@MarksBackyardBirds
@MarksBackyardBirds 4 месяца назад
According to my notes, between 30 and 45 mph is the fastest they have been recorded.

How do birds decide where to nest?
@MarksBackyardBirds

No one knows for sure, but they have to use several factors to meet their needs.
