I think one of the Snack Time monsters ate Maggie's rating (or at least hacked in to make it higher ) Sorry about that weird glitch! Thanks for watching as always and Happy Monday wherever you are
This is one of those things I learned from Paddington Bear as a kid (as it's not a very popular foodstuff in th states), but Marmalade is specifically made from peels (usually lemon or orange), whereas jam is made from the whole fruit. In the States at least, people also make a distinction between jelly and preserves, too, because the latter has seeds and the former is usually more processed. #TheMoreYouKnow
So just thought I'd let you know the difference between jam jelly and marmalade. Jam is made of whole fruit and sugar. Jelly is the fruit juice only. Marmalade is made from citrus fruit and rind. 😀

Interesting, in my country we say Mermelada de Fresa (translated literally to Strawberry marmalade). As Maggie, Jam and marmalade were synonym in my head
Another great video in this series! Railroad Ink blue is my favorite smaller roll-and-write while both Hadrian's Wall and Twilight Inscription are amazing heavier ones
bought Ganz Schon Clever for my wife as a Christmas gift - we are halfway through a second pack of sheets and have Doppelt So Clever...I think she likes it! Hadrian's Wall was amazing, especially with the solo campaign! Railroad Ink is our go to travel game but the level of enjoyment varies massively throught the zillion expansions. Astra is now headed to BGA so I finally get to try it! Thanks for the run through!
Just played all of the Motor City Games titles yesterday! Really great games, with similar DNA, but just enough differences between them that I’m happy to own all three.
I like the way you pronounce "Ganz schön clever". ;-) Didn't know until now that the german term is used internationally. For those who are interested: "Ganz schön clever" can also be played online.
Great video. I got Hadrian's wall and Three Sisters based on previous mentions on your videos, and I really like them both. I would have loved to hear Maggie's opinion on some of these games solo vs. multi-player
Loved hearing your reviews of Fleet vs Three Sisters-I’m really wanting to add one of these to my collection.. was pretty set on wanting Three Sisters but now maybe I’m leaning Fleet for the slight reduction in complexity.. Also the Ganz Schon Clever series.. I play version 1 on my phone all the time (haven’t even gotten close to 300…) but recently bought version 2 to play in person and I really like that its just a bit harder. Probably won’t play version 2 quite as much just because it takes a bit more time and isn’t as easy to introduce to new people but its fun to add a bit of variety
Some of my favorites up in here. Like Amy, I've had my period of obsession with that Gatz Schon Clever app, and Hadrian's Wall was #1 on my top 11 solo games video. Really wanna check out Three Sisters, I've heard lots of good things elsewhere as well and it sounds like it would be a good one to add to the solo rotation.
Love these roll and write themed videos! Three Sisters and Fleet TDG are two of my favorites. Have you tried Dinosaur Island Rawr and Write? Such a crunchy thematic roll and write.
Funny timing, I just wrote a piece about roll-and-writes two days ago! I'm with you on Railroad Ink. When it came out, I was like "this is amazing!" but after only a couple of plays it completely fizzled out for me. Biggest surprise for me was how much you like Hadrian's Wall! Granted, the physical resources really make it much more enjoyable. Using a big fat pen like bingo-style also worked particularly well for this one, no idea why. 🙂 How do you feel about On Tour nowadays? I know you weren't that enthusiastic about it back in that episode of Small Talk, but for some reason it seems to be the only roll-and-write that sticks with me.
Would be helpful to have a quick reminder on what is a roll and write game at the start. Your video came up in my feed after watching videos on playing solo Dungeons and Dragons games which also involve rolling dice and writing but in an entirely different way. Seems to me the roll and write games you are talking about are just fancy bingo, or am I missing something?
Definitely prefer Isle of Cats over Explore and Draw. I want to love Three Sisters, but I always feel deflated at the end, because I realize that I've forgotten a few bonuses or to use an ongoing benefit for most of the game, also it's thematic, but not immersive for me. Adore Hadrian's Wall, still playing the solo campaign. Have you tried Merchant's of Magick roll and write? It might be too light and it's not super combo driven. But I always have fun playing it as it's a bit of a race and it's so quick to play.
Wondering how Qwinto differs from Qwixx? Also, seems a bit difficult to find in US. Found on Ebay. Love Gon Schon Clever.....And agree about Railroad Ink....not drawn to play it. I have Fleet and Three Sisters and found the gameplay of Fleet to be daunting, and never got it to the table. I think it seemed complicated. Need to revisit and watch a play through. I so look forward to Mondays. Keep up the good work and march to 20,000! PS I've noticed you've forgotten to tell us if you are keeping or getting rid of many of the games. Should I assume if you don't mention giving it up, then you're keeping it, even if it rates low for both of you??
