Make sure you're using phrasal verbs correctly: Check with Grammarly! www.grammarly....
In this lesson, you’ll learn 10 phrasal verbs using the verb COME.
Phrasal verbs are groups of words in English, made up of a verb and either one or two particles. A particle can be either a preposition, like ‘on’ or an adverb like ‘together’.
To learn more about phrasal verbs watch this video: • MY TOP TIPS! Learn & U... ... I share my top tips for learning them!
Phrasal verbs are a frustrating!!
Often, one phrasal verb can have more than one meaning.
Often they are idiomatic, so the meaning is not obvious.
Not every phrasal verb follows the same rules - some are transitive, some are intransitive, some are separable or inseparable, or both!
But ignoring them is NOT an option, because they are soooo common. They come up in conversation all the time.
You’ll hear me use them in my lessons, all the time!
Make sure you check out the transcript on my blog to see just how many phrasal verbs I used during this lesson!
www.mmmenglish...
In this lesson:
- Come up
- Come up with
- Come in
- Come out
- Come on
- Come down
- Come down on
- Come across
- Come over
- Come at
- Come back

I enjoyed the video and the way you explained it. Thanks for passing on the information. Here, I type down others: -> come up against: to face an obstacle / to fight or struggle -> come around: to change someone else opinion / to revive / to visit -> come out with: say what you wanna say / to join with us -> come apart: to destroy or fall apart / to lose control -> come into: inherit (some money) / ... fashion or use (trending) / to play a role -> come about: happen, occur (''come up'' and ''come off'' could be used for this last meaning as well) -> come after: pursue, follow -> come along: accompany / to make progress -> come away: become separated from something -> come by: obtain, to get especially by chance or involuntary / to visit (''come about'' and ''come over'' could be used for this last meaning as well) -> come down with: to show symptoms of an illness -> come from: have as one's birthplace or nationality -> come off: have some success, to succeed / to happen, take place -> come through -> survive

A very good video. As usual. Very useful. But- I'd like you to give me a piece of advice. Well- I can understand English at -more or less-intermediate level. Speaking- close to zero. No friends are interested in learning, no practice for me. They're a lot of teachers in English via the internet. Most of them present a lot of very good and interesting lessons. But there are too many of them! Too much information! I watch videos about vocabulary, about pronunciation, about grammar, about phrasal verbs, but all of that is overwhelming! So- as far as I'm not able to eat even a half them up, it seems that I -in order to have any progress-I should make a plan for learning. I don't have one. What should I be concentrated on? Which lessons should I choose? Taking into consideration that I'm not very clever, my memory isn't very good, I"m deeply in love with English. I'm in doubt. Should I sign in for Lingoda? Or any other platform? Concentrating on one teacher means losing others. So- what should I do? I know that the answer to that question can be difficult for you. But it t could be a help not only for me but for many others as well. Still loving you! Bye.

A very important thing to do is think about the meaning of the words of a phrasal verb, and often there is a latin equivalent or multiple ones. "come up" for instance is similar to "emerge" (e-/ex = from/out, merge come/bring/dip/sink, the opposite of sinking into a liquid), "it has come up from beneath the surface of the water". To arise (looks latin but its anglosaxon, to go/get up, or un-rise), rise up (approximately same meaning as arise). If something "comes up" it goes from a position of low/no visability to a point in which is can be perceived. What or whom.... I came up with my friend. That can have more than one meaning, figurative or literal
