I'm pretty sure that particular conference got made into a meme video with the part with Geoff Toovey saying the word "ridiculous" is put on repeat. Absolute classic.

That was a great top 10. But my favourite coaching press conference blow up was Kevin Walters disgust in Queensland's bad loss in the State of Origin against NSW in Perth in 2019. Kevin Walters said that he was fkn pissed off with Queensland's bad loss.

The only thing I'll say is that iv always been a firm believer that there needs to be a serious look at calls that truly do decide games. The calls that are in the last 10 minutes that lead to points. Those calls just can't be wrong anymore. I know back in the day players just accepted a bad call if they got one because there was one referee and a tmo with probably shitty camera angles etc. Nowadays with 2 referees and 2 touch judges and 3 people in the bunker with multiple camera angles they have absolutely no excuse in getting a decision wrong. Literally no excuse. And the other part i agree with is favouring of certain teams. Most definitely the warriors, Raiders, cowboys are probably the most hard some by team when it comes to decisions. They literally never get any 50/50 calls and always get the howlers. There has to be a weekly review I believe of the refereeing where they need to explain why they made their decision. If a referee makes a wrong call then they should front a media conference and explain how they made the call and why. Have to stop treating them like they are some godlike people who are too soft to front the media.

great idea about having the referees be a part of the post-match press conferences. I don't mean to have it all in war with the coaches/captains but be great to put them in front of the media for questions.

Great choice for number 2, Flanno taking the time before the press conference to write up a whole fucking list of referee errors and have it ready to go is all time and I love it, from one of the most laid back guys in the game too. I LOVE the passion of the coaches - sadly the "officials" have no such passion for the game which is why they are protected and hide away. NRL/Bunker and too many on field officials are WAY below the standards required. Needs changing but wont be sadly.

After watching this, it's amazing to see how nrl have scrubbed the videos on some of these games. No second half of the Penrith manly game, no highlight of peachy try. I'd be interested to see if all the mistakes these coaches were upset over were scrapped

Definitely is one of the biggest angers. Not just NRL but in a lot of sports. You cannot question the refs after. All players are scrutinized for mistakes/choices they make, yet the Refs walk away and aren't questioned to decisions they make? How do you expect players to play at National AND international levels when the Refs are playing junior clubs level? On top of it all, as the game progresses and more calls are made, players get even more frustrated and the game gets even more out of control. With all the powers and computer technology they have now days, how is it even possible to make some of the mistakes that they do make? On the other end though, more responsibility should be put on the refs on the field though. They shouldn't be relying bunker or other means to make a decision. But at the end of the day, they should be sat down like coaches and captains and asked their perspective.

I remember many years ago at a press conference, the legendary AFL coach Mick Malthouse demanded that coaches have more freedom of speech at their press conferences, and soon after, he got fined for his comments.

In #5 trent robbo got it all correct. High shot on tupo should have been at least 10 in the bin maybe even send of judging by how they have been referring through that season. The hip drop should be 10 in the bin, and the shot on manu should have been a send off, latrel mitchel suspended until round 5 in the 2022 season and even then its still not making up for it. Now latrel has been playing cooler rather than going in making rash decisions but that was a grub of a tackle

Toovey is a go hard, I remember him picking up Mal maninga and driving him back 5 meters and dumping him
