10 Promising WWE Storylines That Ended TOO SOON 

Commenting before watching to say yall nearly gave me a heart attack, with that thumbnail before I remembered what storyline it was from.

That thumbnail had me on the verge of meltdown…

If WWE would've just shown a little more patience with the Summer of Punk, things could've worked out so much better. If Punk had stayed away longer than 8 days, they could've still had Rey Mysterio win the interim title, then build up a match between him and Cena at Summerslam (a pretty fresh and interesting match-up) rather than Rey getting to hold the title for 2 hours and immediately drop it to Cena to facilitate Punk's abrupt return. They still could've had Del Rio cash in on the winner of Cena v. Rey at Summerslam and dragged that out for a couple months, avoiding the whole Kevin Nash fiasco, and Triple H unnecessarily beating Punk at Night of Champions, but still be "removed" from running Raw a couple weeks later after the walkout. Then they could've built up the real champion Punk's return to unify the two WWE Titles at Survivor Series. That way Punk's 434-day reign would've conceivably been over 500 days, since it would be counted as a continuous reign from Money in the Bank 2011-early 2013. They also could've been bold enough and had him defeat The Rock AND Triple H during his reign to really build his credibility as champion and either set up a Punk-Rock-Cena triple threat for WrestleMania 29, or put Punk's 500+ day reign against Undertaker's 20-0 Streak . Then maybe Punk would've gotten his desired WrestleMania main event and wouldn't have left in 2014. Oh what could've been.

I feel like the Devil’s Advocate gimmick would really work in today’s age, giving a couple tweaks

Could also throw in the "Unholy Alliance" thing with Taker and Big Show in 1999. Taker had begun to drop some of the more supernatural aspects of his character and act more like a real guy. He then had to take several months out to deal with injuries before returning at Judgement Day 2000 as the ABA. I imagine that had he not gone away, he'd still have developed towards that character anyway as there were already a load of hints but there could have been an eventual feud with Show

I think The Shield v Wyatts fued ended too soon. Could’ve confronted each other in the rumble match & dragged it out for 2 months with a big pay off match at WM30. Would’ve been much better than Shield v Kane, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn & Cena vs Wyatt

my favorite storyline that ended too soon was the Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins feud that happened back when Seth was Mr. MitB. Each week Dean had a new way to screw with Seth and it was one of the few good things on Raw during "the authority" era. Sadly, WWE cut the feud short by swapping Dean Ambrose for Roman Reigns. This effectively killed the whole angle by swapping the "unhinged former friend turned enemy" with the "big heavy" who showed no emotional damage from The Shield breaking up.

I remember when the internet LOST ITS DAMN MIND when the McMaDeath started. Now everybody's all like "oh god we should have let it play outtt"

I absolutely agree about the Kane vs Kane feud. It was the first storyline I thought of when I seen this video.. I remember that storyline being the most intriguing thing about RAW at that time.

I remember I was a really young kid and I knew that McMahon couldn’t be dead but couldn’t get myself to completely brush it away. And then the Benoit thing happened woof

The worst part of the who ran down Stone Cold Steve Austin storyline is they later retconned it to being (who else!) Triple H as the mastermind behind the whole thing!

Regal getting suspended 😭😭 that look on his face when he sat on the KOTR throne = 😠. I was sooo excited for Regal's megapush. Such a heartbreaker.

I found the Tori and Kane storyline ending not only too soon but it started randomly. I feel that it should've started back when the brothers of destruction first existed and she becomes the "yoko" for the "break up" of that stable and controls Kane like a manipulative person turning him against Taker among others (with Taker warning him that she was using him and will drop him like he was nothing as a result), reigniting the feud between him and Taker as well as with a few other faces. Even better if her mic skills were at least good enough (thus making Kane a heel as well as Tori). It could've lasted lmaybe a year or so and instead of ending randomly with X-pac taking her (didn't look like a good couple even though Kane would get revenge anyway), they should've had Taker's warning eventually comes true resulting in Kane turning face, and Taker later telling him: "I told you she was trouble", and they reunite some time later down the road after Kane gets his revenge on her and realizes he is free. Just my thoughts btw.

Cultaholic wrestling, the single greatest 2 Promising WWE Storylines That Ended TOO SOON are these that you FAILED TO MENTION!! Alexa bliss/Fiend storyline AND the WCW invasion of WWE!! They had endless possibilities

I thought HHH and Austin as the two man power trip was a good team and could have lasted longer if HHH had not got hurt.

Just scrolling and the thumbnail gave me a shock, saw it before I saw the title and assumed the worst

While I agree that it would've been better if Punk had been off TV for a bit longer in 2011, I don't really see a better PPV to bring him back for. He returned quickly to set up the main event for Summerslam (the 2nd biggest PPV), which was only a month after he left. The next Big PPV was Survivor Series where he would've been overshadowed by The Rock. The Rumble would've been too long a wait and again your starting the WM build which again would've had to contend with Cena Vs Rock. A lesser PPV like Night of Champions or HIAC just isn't big enough for a huge return like that.

Soon as I saw who was involved in the Black Hart story, I immediately knew how it'd end. Wouldn't put it past Vince to have ended Imposter Kane because he had the idea of Festus, which was Gallows' later gimmick. lol. Which reminds of the couple of interviews he had after signing for WWE later that he feared that Vince would remember he was Festus and put him back in the gimmick. Sadly, a mix of fear of Punk 'losing' the title and WWE intentionally ignoring the larger wrestling world, meant Punk's absence wouldn't amount to much. At the very least, they could have kept him home and had him randomly appear on the Titantron to taunt Cena or somebody else.

The Deleters of Worlds: Both, Wyatt and Hardy, where over and eager to dive into their joined gimmick and their rare video packages promos were absolutely delightful but WWE booked them in a never ending string of matches that concluded with the B-Teams fluke win. Shortly after Matt had to go away because of the whole thing with his spine.

Man 2006/07 were crazy years for Vince as he was involved in the DX reunion storyline, invented a cult ("the Mcmahonism"), faced Trump at Wm and went bald, became ECW world champ and also Durag Vince, faked his death, found out he had a "little bastard" son (this was Horsnswoggle's original name if you didn't know lol)

I personally feel dutifully the summer of punk storyline was alicit injustice,given the circumstances and context encompassing it!.

I think if Punk had came back at Summerslam or Survivor Series after appearing in NJPW or ROH would’ve been dope

1) nWo's reign of terror ended far too soon 2) same with Hollywood's feud with cRock - recall that the crowd was largely on Hulk's side. he should have won that fight either cleanly or with nWo interference to set up a rematch with the cRock ultimately winning 3) RTC should have gone on just a bit longer - I thought a few divas should have been won over as that could have been used creatively

I don’t think the 2 man power trip was going to get that much better. Even I (this was the night of my fandom and I was a huge Austin fan) wasn’t really invested in the storyline. The Austin turn never really felt like it worked for anyone even when he and HHH were together. I don’t think that anything would’ve worked on Austin. Not even him hugging Vince etc was able to get fans to hate him

Y'all are wrong for that thumbnail. 😂 I was sitting in a parking lot when I got the notification and the year at the bottom was cut off. I thought Vince had actually died before hitting 100. I went through a number of different emotions in just a few seconds before seeing part of the title and realizing that y'all were gonna be talking about his storyline death 15 years ago.
