Baby she took me out when she said "dipsy doodling all the way to the Detroit I said oh my God when I get to Detroit that is it." with the hand motions. Lmao 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Aretha knows how to tell a story.
Was? Even though Ms. Franklin isn't here in body anymore, her will legacy and music will live on forever! Please know that her passing on will not end that.
She likes green. Notice the emerald pendant and earrings. When she performed at the Kennedy Center honoring Carole King she had a massive cabochon emerald ring. I watched another interview where she was wearing a green gown. I don't notice many women liking green or being able to make it work. She made it work for her.
My father got to work with Aretha many years ago and says that she was one of the most sincere and pleasant woman to work with. It was in the Detroit area during a time when it was very depressed and sad. She is right when she says the jobs have to come back to Detroit like it use to be. The jobs should have never gotten outsourced which is one of the problems that happened.
I saw Aretha in concert at the Budweiser Super Festival in the 1980’s at San Diego. At the Apollo as a young kid in the 60’s. She left her heart and soul on the stage each time she performed. Long after she is gone, her music and voice is the gift that will keep on giving. Thank you Aretha...thank you!
@Diapontios, that’s all media fabrications and gossip. People who knew her personally unanimously speak of her as very warm, but she didn’t roll with bs
It's like listening to your grandma telling you stories about when she was young. I absolutely love all my elders, they have lived, all of them, man, woman, white, black, Hispanic, Asian, green, yellow. They are amazing and so cute and tell you like it is by this she.
Look, Back in the day , Aretha still had the range to do opera and do it very well, Regardless of her background ...as the years have worn on , her voice is not able to hit the same notes as she could circa 67 to the 70's , HOWEVER , I have seen her twice in concert and she absolutely killed it and they are the BEST concerts I have EVER been to ... She has NO PEERS ...and will always be the once in a lifetime QUEEN of SOUL ...xoxoxoo
There is no denying her voice. She is THE "Queen Of Soul". I have seen Aretha give other Artists RESPECT. I had noticed many comments claiming she has never mentioned others, A shocker to you all, when she appeared on "The View", she was promoting a Christmas Album. Joy asked her who were some of her favorites she said TINA TURNER!!!! And this was AFTER the supposed FEUD. And prior to the release of Who's Zoomin Who. She said she wanted to do something like what Tina has done with her career. Sooooo......
I Just Love This Woman. I can listen to all her music and Watch all Her Interviews and Enjoy Them All with Interest. Simply The Greatest. She has Worked Extremely Hard over the course of her Career Life. She Deserving of The name Queen of Soul. You May Not Be In the Flesh anymore but you will always be around in The Spirit and Through Your Beautiful Heartwarming Music for Generations to come. Take Your Rest. Love You Aretha Franklin. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Solid Gold!! I grew up watching that! My late mama LOVED Aretha. I hope she got to meet her in Heaven. Aretha and also Diana Ross & The Supremes were her favorites. She made her boss play their music where she worked. Miss you mama. :( And I’ll always miss our Queen of Soul too. 😔🙏🏼❤️🌹
Good questions by non-professionals. Interesting that George Benson was her favorite collaboration. This happened on one of her first Arista albums in the early 80s. This interview was done shortly before Aretha got sick. She was 68 here. Aretha remained very youthful looking until her illness.
Steven Grey, I do not know which way to spell Stephen or Gray..... But your interview was razor focused and so skilled. I am now a fan. You took on a beast of an interview complicated by admiration temperament and time............. What a brilliant moment for you.
I think Aretha is one of the truly beautiful black women ..her eyes are gawjus is it me or ate they black or just darkest brown her skin is flawless so beautiful pity she didn't have a baby girl yo carry on that beauty
Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, TinaTurner, Celine Dion the list goes on forever. All great singers in their own right Aretha you may not compliment other singers, but we know you are definitely one of them!!
@tangogirl100 Her first album was released when she was 14. Her atlantic debut is "I Never Loved A Man The Way I love You" released months before Aretha Arrives. She was 25 at the time.
ARETHA! You still look fabulous!!! I would love for you to make a new album. I love all your songs. My all time favorites are Chain of Fools, Respect, (There is a rose)In Spanish Harlem. Fabulous interview!
