Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference:
0:00 - Intro
1. 0:07 {Deceased Loved Ones & Necromancy?} Is going to the cemetery and talking to loved ones necromancy?
2. 27:59 {Our Choices & God’s Sovereign Will} Do we have any true control over life entering the world, or is it only based on God's sovereignty? I think if it’s God's plan for me to have a child, I'll get pregnant even if on birth control. But my husband thinks we control conception through birth control. If Jeremiah 1:5 applies to all people, wouldn't that mean God's plan overrides our plan for procreation?
3. 31:45 {Jesus’ Death: Physical but Not Spiritual?} If Jesus' humanity and divinity are inseparable, then how could He experience bodily death on the cross without His deity dying, as well?
4. 36:33 {Do Christians Continue to Need Forgiveness?} 1 John 1:9 perplexes me. I am a Christian. In what sense does my daily confession apply "forgiveness" to me? What happens if I die with “unforgiven” sin?
5. 41:19 {Why Doesn’t God Just Satisfy Skeptics’ Doubts?} How would you answer someone who says, “If there is a God, He knows what evidence I would need to believe and has not given it to me” and seems to genuinely mean it, not mocking/scoffing?
6. 51:33 {Metaphorical, Spiritual, or Physical Resurrection?} Is Romans 8: 11 referring to a metaphorical, spiritual, or physical resurrection later to come? I thought it was spiritual, but the term "mortal bodies" has me thinking differently.
7. 57:43 {Too Much Theology & Doctrine?} My pastor says that theology is “just someone’s opinion” and that “we shouldn’t get hooked on theology and doctrine.” How would you respond?
8. 1:03:05 {Did Peter & Other Disciples Quit?} Did Peter and the others "quit the ministry" when they went fishing in John 21:3? It seems that Peter had already seen the risen Christ 2 or 3 times before this event.
9. 1:08:33 {Stewarding Friendships with Unbelievers} How do you navigate having worldly friends? At times I enjoy their company and the conversation is good, but at other times they are unbearable to be around, making crude jokes.
10. 1:14:19 {God Conceals a Matter?} In Proverbs 25:2, in what sense is the author saying that God conceals a matter? It's clearly not an absolute (i.e., He does reveal things).

If you can see this message, this is a prayer request to my brothers and sisters in Christ. My comments get shadow banned 99.99% since I started sharing the Gospel thanks to Mike's encouragement (been watching for over 10 years now). Since the Gospel is offensive to many, I suspect I've received too many down votes even though I have always sought to promote love and peace. If so inspired, would you please give me an upvote on this comment. Not sure if it will work, but I'm hoping it will allow me to participate in other more controversial channels to promote compassionate Gospel truth where others have gotten caught up in hating their neighbor. At the very least, prayers are appreciated. Thanks so much! ❤

"Is going to the cemetery and talking to loved ones necromancy?" I find that practice highly problematic. In fact a lot of burial/funeral practices seem to be to me like slippery slopes. I get that people are mourning the death of others. But I'm annoyed how that is used to dictate all kinds of practices and even teachings on others. Catholics liked to do that.

I lost my 20 yr old son in a tragic accident in 2022. Grief has been my enemy. I am changed. No desire to be around people and i dont talked to anyone. I work and go home. Jesus has kept me from drowning in it. Holy Spirit is guiding me. There had been times i didn't want to be here anymore. I have talked to my son but i know he doesn't hear me so i pray to God. I am learning to focus on Jesus and talk to him instead. He is close to the broken hearted..one day his kingdom will be here and there will be no more tears or pain. My hope is in our Lord Jesus❤

I remember when my mom died, I prayed for her in ways that I knew went against my Christian theology, asking God to save her (after death). My grief was so overwhelming that I couldn’t even imagine living anymore and starting asking God to take my life. Praise to Jesus, He brought me out of that pit of deep sadness and reminded me of the abundant life He has given me. Our grief is powerful but our Savior is even more powerful to turn our sadness to joy and our hearts back to Him.

How beautiful that you were able to work out those difficult feelings, and that God led you through it so gently. I think that is the difference of 'crying out in our grief,' and 'pushing God away' believing that he doesn't understand our pain, even after we've gotten the chance to share it with him. He is faithful! ❤️

When my (unsaved) mother died, I found myself saying, "Mama," because I was just sad that I'm never going to see her again and it would have been so easy for her to accept Jesus but she raged at me every time I tried to witness to her. I realized that I was addressing the dead, and replaced "Mama" with "Abba" because He is living and hears me.

I lost my son last year to Volvulus (malrotation of the intestines). It wasn't detected when I gave birth to him, and we only found out about this condition after the autopsy. His death took us all by surprise, but I am thankful that even at 12, my son Karl knew Jesus and was even curious about death and afterlife weeks before he died. Whenever I feel like being taken to a really dark place while grieving, I always ask God to take this overwhelming feeling/ emotion away that's crippling me, and replace it with the hope that comes only from Him. I am kept away from that dark place because I chose to anchor everything to Christ. He is truly my Saviour. All praises to Him!

I had a 3 month old baby irl that died of SIDS. At that time there was many diaper commercials that was very heartbreaking. But was worse when I went to her grave. That was like a knife piercing my heart. After several months I realized that she was with God and I was torturing myself and I had to quit putting myself through this because I knew she wasn’t there. When death comes near you in life you realize if you believe in Jesus if not there is no hope. Jesus is real and he carried me🙏🏼 I was blessed for the time she was here but realize that she was Gods child.

@tishalack1089. I hear you. I too lost a child at 5 years old. Heartbreaking. I think when our faith isn’t strong grief can pull us into a downward spiral. I see how God pulled you out of that spiral and helped you see the truth. This is how we grow I think, going through the fire so to speak and emerging out of it more wise and stronger in faith. Grief is a process we have to go through, else we would not be human, but you were definitely helped through the process by our Father. Those mysterious ways of His! It’s awe inspiring.

My dad passed away last year at 99 years old. We had many conversations about heaven and being with the Lord, and about what people thought heaven was like. We often heard people say, when someone lost a loved one, that the loved ones were "watching over them" and were always with them. I have noticed that this concept is much more common that decades ago. I may be wrong but I think there is an influence from New Age ideas. My dad said he thought it was wrong to think this way for many reasons. What kind of heaven would it be if your job is to always be looking at your family as they go through worldly grief and mistakes? The grieving person needs the contact that they must learn to release as they trust in God. My job is to make the most of my life and know that I will be reunited with my loved ones in the best place possible, and for now, rejoice that they are in glory.

Last year, I lost my dad and brother in the span of six months. It was tough, and I mean really tough. I've visited their gravesides as they are in the same cemetery and buried near each other. I can honestly say never did it occur to me to talk to them. I cried, but never talked, etc. They both loved the Lord and know that they are 'absent from the body and present with Lord'. As sad as it is for us, we cling to the Lord's promise, 'I go to prepare a place for you'. Grief is a difficult thing but always look to the Word of God for comfort. If you are not Born Again, please seek out Jesus today.

I never drew that connection of necromancy and saint relics etc. 🤯 i was raised Catholic. We used to light a blessed candle and put the saints bones in front of it before speaking to that particular saint for prayers and favors. We actually suffered quite a bit for years w a spirit that would torment and taunt us in the house, growing up..We'd light more candles, get more relics..bless the rooms with holy water..beg for various saints intercession..the activity would die down some but would inevitably return. To this day, my still catholic siblings deal w the same other worldly issues in their own homes. I hadnt realized it likely started w our family basically keeping a bone and candle alter and our speaking to the saints. 😢

Honest question from someone considering Catholicism. Do you think your family was truly in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church or going overboard either in practice or heart? My understanding is that relics should point to the reality of our Bodily resurrection in Christ and the Communion of Saints through our One Mediator Christ. I've learned a lot about spiritual warfare from Priests who battle demons through the Power of Christ and the intercession of His Saints, including the Blessed Mother

@@foodforthought8308 yes, id say my family was in line w catholic teaching and doctrine. We attended Mass every Wednesday and Sunday and confession every Saturday. We were all baptized, had reconciliation, first communion, and were confirmed in highschool. I was also married w in the catholic church after taking precanna classes w my husband ( we didnt leave the catholic church until 2020) We abstained from meat every Friday and recieved communion every Sunday ..never touching it w our hands out of respect. We had masses said in our home, prayed the Rosary every night as a family after dinner, as well as various novenas. We also were all named after various saints, grew up wearing scapulas and metals, and kept holy water in our home. We were homeschooled for elementary school using Seton homeschool curriculum ( a catholic homeschool curriculum named after Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton) and then went to a private Catholic junior high and highschool. My family was not the kind of family that only attended church on Christmas and Easter. We were extremely devoted to the Catholic religion and belonged to the Universal Living Rosary Society and attended weekly Eucharistic Adoration. Leaving the Catholic church was initially difficult on my heart...I knew my family would likely not understand and I loved the traditions I grew up with. A Latin High Mass is beautiful and I so miss the stained glass windows and incense. There's something so comforting to it for me. That being said, the Bible is clear that we no longer need a priest to be our go between for us and God, as Jesus is our mediator, And is also clear that the work on the cross was a once and for all sacrifice..the work on the cross is finished. Catholics believe Jesus is perpetually sacrificed at every Mass, that through a special ritual the host and wine actually become the real body and blood of Christ, and that you must recieve the eucharist and wine to abide w Jesus. This is unbiblical as are other aspects of Catholic dogma, sych as praying to saints and Mary, venial vs mortal sins, and purgatory. Paul warns quite a bit about certain men who had broken away from the truth and were telling people to avoid certain foods and forbidding marriage. I would encourage u to read 1 Timothy 4 and to check out Mike's video on the Catholic faith, he does an excellent job at his treatment of Catholic catechism and I saw no bias in his video or opinion at all. I'm praying for your discernment, friend. ♥

@@foodforthought8308 Although many non-Catholics object to relics, the Bible contains several examples of relics being integral to healing. For example, the bones of Elisha brought a dead man to back to life: 2 Kings 13:20-21 So Elisha died, and they buried him. Now bands of Moabites used to invade the land in the spring of the year. And as a man was being buried, lo, a marauding band was seen and the man was cast into the grave of Elisha; and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood on his feet. The hem of Jesus’ garment cured the woman of a hemorrhage (cf. Mt 9:20-22), and the sick were healed when Peter’s shadow passed over them (cf. Acts 5:14-16). Even more interesting is the case of a relic of Paul: Acts 19:11-12 "And God did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried away from his body to the sick, and diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them" The Catholic Church does not say there is some magical power in relics; there is nothing in the relic itself, whether a bone of the apostle Peter or water from Lourdes, that has any curative ability. However, scripture clearly shows that the proper use of relics may be the occasion of God’s miracles.

CCC 696 says Mary is a co mediator with Christ. So already you're not catholic. It's an unbiblical doctrine. 1 thess 4:13-18 says those who are dead are waiting for the shout so the dead in Christ can rise. Therefore these saints are dead. Ask for intercession from the saints that are alive. @@foodforthought8308 Edit: This is coming from someone who, like you, wanted to find a reason to be catholic. It seemed cool, I like the robes and the imagery and the beautiful cathedrals and all that I called and talked to a few priests, got given a catechism and catholic answer bible to look into, he even bookmarked the sections in the catechism for me with the questions I was asking him. I read it and was shocked by the claims about Mary specifically as just one example. As much as I'd like it to be right it just isn't. They've strayed way too far.

Unfortunately, Mike this this REALLY wrong. Here's what you CAN tell your kids: The saints are alive, not dead. (Mk 12:26-27) The saints are aware of our prayers and needs. (cf. Lk 15:10, Heb 12:1, Rev 5:8) The saints are righteous, and their prayers are effective. (cf. Rev 21:27, Jam 5:16) Scripture is silent on the question of asking saints to pray for us (which is NOT necromancy). Therefore, we are free to do so. *Necromancy is communication with the dead in order to obtain hidden or secret knowledge beyond our ordinary human powers, whether about the future or current events. It’s not mere communication with the dead. Many non-Catholics erroneously conflate the two; they may look similar but they are very different. Notice the subsequent instructions that Moses gives concerning a coming prophet. In Deut. 18:15, Moses says, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brethren-him you shall heed.". In other words, there is no need to go to mediums, sorcerers, wizards, or necromancers to gain knowledge, because God will send a prophet of his own. Since the context of Deut 18 is about looking to God’s prophet and not to mediums, sorcerers, wizards, or necromancers, it’s clear that the prohibition has to do with seeking hidden knowledge beyond ordinary human intelligence apart from God. And since conjuring up the dead (necromancy) is one way of doing that, God forbids it. But that's not what is happening when people ask the SAINTS to pray for them.

My sister died, and now, all that we were and did as children now exists only in my memory. There is nobody I can talk to about those memories, like recollections of happy times with our beloved Dad, Uncle, Grandma, and it's so lonely. But, thank God, thank Him profoundly and from the depths of my heart, the one thing I am not tempted to do is to try to contact her because I know that she cannot hear me, and if I ever felt that I was in contact with her, I would be in a bad, bad place, talking to a bad, evil entity. Thank you, Pastor Mike for this video. God bless you and keep you. Please pray for my family........ they don't accept God's Word on this subject and have been to "mediums" ........ Q 1, bothers me. Growing up, it was sort of said our loved ones in Heaven would watch over us. As an adult I know they don't watch over us. After my mom passed, yes I would direct a portion of my thoughts and prayers towards my mom. How much I loved her, thanking her for being a great mom, telling her how much I missed her. I NEVER expected an answer, I was NEVER asking her any questions. But I missed her tremendously, I guess to me it is a form of verbalizing, although I didn't speak them out loud, my feelings for my mom.

When I was 3, my Granda died. I couldn't really understand death yet. My mum told me he had died and that he was in heaven ( he was a Christian), and a few days later I was asking when he was coming back from heaven. My mum told me he liked heaven so much he didn't want to leave. She also encouraged me to ring him up on my toy phone and talk to him, which I did. This really helped me process what had happened. One time I came off my phone and said "Granda Jack says he likes heaven so much he doesn't want to come back" I knew I wasn't actually talking to him, as I knew I was making the whole conversation up and dialling a completely different number each time.

1 Thess 4 is a great passage for grief, at least for believers (or ones you suppose to be) if we believe Jesus died and rose again, then we believe they will be risen again "and the dead in Christ will rise first". we will be reuinited at the resurrection. what a wonderful thing. don't sorrow as those who don't have hope, we have the hope of the resurrection. even though we die, in Christ we will live again, we will be born again, made alive again, at the resurrection at Christ Jesus' glorious return.

She always looked forward to Heaven. She was excited about Heaven! For me, Mom made the grief process so easy. She planned and paid for her entire funeral in advance. She smiled and said, "You just have to show up!" She was right. I had minimal responsibilities, of course, but she did everything she could. "This is long-distance, super-hearing powers." I've never heard this stated so well! I was raised as a Spiritualist, and wanted to be a medium when I grew up. The two big beliefs in Spiritualism are "spirit guides"--the dead guiding the living--and reincarnation. There is really no difference between communicating with "spirit guides" and praying to saints. (Many "spirit guides" are Native Americans. Why? I don't know.) Mediums take the place of a pastor in Spiritualist churches, and that's what I wanted to be. My father told me all of the things he was teaching me were in the Bible, so I started reading it when I was 16. After reading 3/4 of the Bible, I realized I hadn't found what he said was there, and figured it wasn't in the other 1/4. (It wasn't. No surprise there.) I prayed for God to lead me to a church which taught from the Bible without manmade traditions. He did. God saved me from belief in the occult, and I was baptized when I was 21. That was in 1982. I'm so thankful He answered my prayer!

When my mom unexpectedly passed away in January, my most frequent prayer was that I wanted to honor Him and bring Him glory through my grief. Since my mom died so unexpectedly and without any kind of warning (she was also young, 61)… the desire to want to just talk to her was there. The Lord laid it on my heart that I can always talk to Him. Bring it to Him. And so, I do. Anytime I want to just shout out “mom I miss you! Mom I love you!” I tell it to the Lord (“ Jesus, I miss my mom” “Father.. if at all possible, could you tell my mom that I love her and miss her so much”). Maybe He tells her, maybe He doesn’t, but I feel that by bringing it to Him and telling Him, that it is the healthiest and honestly, most practical since the Lord hears us ❤️ Thank you for addressing this! Love your content!

At one point a loud banging at the door inspired one girl to answer the door but it was like a wind? It blew her metres across the room and she landed on the floor and ran away screaming and had to be sent home. We were all crying and screaming and figured we'd invited a demon in, but many of us believed we were subconsciously doing all of it ourselves through fear, as the leaders were calming us down it began to stop (the banging and the screaming outside), so we felt we were controlling it somehow. “Praying for the dead” is not necromancy, since your loved ones (if died in a state of grace) will certainly be _alive_ with our Lord, able to hear and respond to your prayers. Why? It’s biblical. John saw in Rev. 4:10, 5:8, 6:9-11 saints worshipping God, singing hymns, playing instruments, making requests to Christ to avenge their martyrdom, and offering prayers for the saints on earth. Transfiguration of Jesus. Moses and Elijah who appeared in glory and spoke of His departure, were more alive than we are. Matthew 22:32, Jesus plainly states, “He is _not_ the God of the _dead,_ but of the *_living.”_* And the same persecuted Christiana are the ones in Hebrews 10:32-35 who “surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,”.

You have not sinned. The saints are alive, not dead. (Mk 12:26-27) The saints are aware of our prayers and needs. (cf. Lk 15:10, Heb 12:1, Rev 5:8) The saints are righteous, and their prayers are effective. (cf. Rev 21:27, Jam 5:16) Scripture is silent on the question of asking saints to pray for us which is NOT necromancy*. Be at peace.

As to the dead hearing us the Scriptures say: 5) "For the living know that they will die, but *the* *dead* *know* *nothing* ; they have no further reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten. 6) They're love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished; never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun." @sethtrey

doesn't this, read as a fact, preclude resurrection?
@nicoladibara1936
@nicoladibara1936 3 месяца назад
But the traditional and unscriptural doctrine of consciousness after death stubbornly persists. The Bible is IGNORED. “The dead do not praise the LORD, nor any who go down in silence.” (Psalm 115:17, 18 NKJV) “His spirit [‘ruach’-breath] departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his thoughts perish.” (Psalm 146:4 NASB) “For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and THEN He will reward each according to his works.” (Matthew 16:27) THEN and NOT immediately after death. Resurrection of the dead must happen in order to receive the “reward.” “… you shall be repaid at the RESURRECTION of the just.” (Luke 14:14) “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give everyone according to his work.” (Revelation 22:12) “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the GRAVES [not in Heaven or “hell] will hear His [Jesus’] voice and come forth-those who have done good, to the resurrection of LIFE, and thise who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.” (John 5:28, 29) And what is this “condemnation”? The Bible is CLEAR that the condemnation is DEATH. Eternal death-ceasation of existence-FOREVER. “For the wages of sin is DEATH, but the gift of God is eternal LIFE in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) “… he who does NOT have the Son of God does NOT have life.” (1. John 5:12) Same as in the well-known John 3:16-either “perish” or have everlasting LIFE. Logical, because death and life are direct OPPOSITES. The the unscriptural, God-insulting, blasphemous, satanic doctrine of eternal life or existence in the so-called “hell” gives the unsaved ALSO eternal life-albeit in horrible misery and suffering. What a horrible portrayal of our Heavenly Father. What blasphemous doctrine. John clearly states that those outside if Christ “DO NOT HAVE LIFE.” (1. John 5:12) And both Paul and Ezekiel state that the unsaved get the punishment of DEATH-Romans 6:23; Ezekiel 18:4. Ezekiel 18:23, 31, 32 is also very clear, and speaks clearly of God’s character. We read there that God takes “NO pleasure” in the DEATH of the wicked. So why do so many think that He would derive pleasure from their supposed everlasting torment? UNTHINKABLE! James 5:20 also says that the unsaved get DEATH. Finally, WHY didn’t Jesus say to his disciples that He will see them WHEN THEY DIE and their “soul” (or spirit) leaves their body and goes to Heaven? Why did He say what He said in John 14:2, 3-namely, that HE will RETURN and THEN take them to Heaven, so that they can be together with Him? The PARABLE of Lazarus and the Rich Man, which is obviously METAPHORICAL, is taken literally by the desperate proponents of the “hell” and “immortal soul” heresy. And the passage of the “thief on the cross” CAN be harmonised with the rest of the Scriptures. Even Jesus did NOT go to Heave that day-see John 20:17. Jesus told the man that already, on that very day-long before the resurrection of the dead and the Judgment Day-he can be CERTAIN that he WILL be with Jesus in Paradise. And that will happen after the RETURN of Jesus, of course. “Immortal soul” or immortal spirit is UNSCRIPTURAL! Only God is immortal (1. Timothy 6:16). Hence, only He can grant us eternal life-when Jesus returns.

Jesus didn't contradict all those verses that indicate the dead are not conscious and are completely unaware of the condition. That would mean Jesus blasphemes the holy spirit since those verses were written under inspiration.

My 25 year old son was murdered four years ago and when I go to his gravesite I say I’m so sorry you’re dead Steven over and over and say some other things and cry. But it’s not talking to him. It’s just saying how you’re feeling out loud. His fourth year just passed last month and when my daughter, her boyfriend and I went there. We all brought flowers and said something. Plus I left him a cigarette and my daughter left him a pack of skittles. Then afterwards we left and I said he’s going to enjoy those skittles and smoke a cigarettes after. It’s more a comfort to yourself and your imagination than actually thinking he’s actually smoking a cigarette or eating skittles. So I don’t feel guilty about it or feel I’m doing something demonic.

The only thing I've ever said to any loved one who has passed, is that I miss them. Before my mom passed,she suffered and I prayed to God to take her quick. But as we all know it is all on his time which is the way it is. There are people that are in my family that think it's ok to pray to the deceased and every one knows that is a dead end...no pun intended. So, I once thought my mother visited me ,but I have recently found that I was being comforted by th Holy Spirit.

One question : when the witch of endor brought Samuel back from the dead for Saul, the apparition prophesied Saul's downfall . So would the " spirit " truly have been Samuel ? Would a fallen angel or Satan have appeared only to truthfully reveal what would happen?or was it ACTUALLY Samuel?
@theeternalsbeliever1779
@theeternalsbeliever1779 3 месяца назад
The spirit that appeared to Saul was a demon disguising itself as Samuel. Notice that the witch said that the spirit came from the ground(1 Sam. 28:13). Now compare this with 2 Pet. 2:4. And yes, it truthfully delivered a message to Saul from God that he and his sons were going to die because of his rebellion.

It was actually Samuel, according to the Biblical account: "And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and paid homage."Verse 14

Love the shirt! As far as question 1 goes, I have a hard time with that. I lost someone I really cared about in September 2023. I get the urge to talk to them, but when I do, I just pray. I let God know I miss them. It helps. I also think of this person with God, and I imagine that if this person communicated with me, they would separate from God, and it would be selfish of me to ask for that. I know this is just my imagination, but it helps to think of them with God. God's word has given me a lot of relief. ❤

I'm sorry that Mike disturbed your peace with his false teaching. Scripture proves him wrong. "In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." (Luke 15:10) Who are those rejoicing in the presence of the angels, and how do they know that someone on earth has repented? Be at peace.

I have personal experience with "speaking to lost loves ones". It is actually what the Lord used to reveal Himself to me, to open my eyes and to reveal the truth to me. What the Lord Jesus used to lead me too His saving grace. What the Holy Spirit showed me was completely biblical. I have prayed many times over the past few years, that if it were just thoughts of my own, please speak to my heart. I was convicted even more that what I was shown, was from, Jesus. So I typed out the story of it and saved it on a USB. I will never forget it, but I just felt like I should write it down. Even if it's for my children to find and read after I'm gone.

i met thousands of asleep in Christ recently so they were never dead anyway since God is the God of the living. test the Spirits to see if they are from God He can send them He brings them to talk to me. the animals even. And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four [and] twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; ... And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ... And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. - Revelation 5:8-9, 11, 13 KJV

Great insight! Only thing I’d add on q1… It doesn’t always have to go as far as demonic deception. Humans can take advantage of peoples grief by doing tricks, that seems persuasive, but are a dishonest version of stage magic that make it seems like they’re communicating with loved ones. They’re liars, and are financially benefiting off grief.

The Mormon church encourages talking to dead loved ones. Everyone of them (including their prophet Nelson) knows somebody who has talked to a dead person. The appearance of dead family members happens quite frequently in their temples.

He was wrong. Christ himself did not return immediately to the Father according to Peter and Isaiah. He told Mary upon His resurrection that He had not yet returned to the Father.

2 Cor. 5:8 "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". Pretty sure that doesn't mean napping in His presence, but wide awake. The only verses in the Bible about the dead being asleep are considered metaphoric (like when you say that your dog is 'put to sleep' - you mean it in a nice way, but you didn't just give Fluffy a nap). Also in Revelation, it seems that the people are all wide awake, so depending on your view of when the new bodies are distributed, that counts as evidence of people being aware in Heaven. So, there is a minority of Christians who think that you sleep until the Resurrection, but most do not. Hope that helps!

1 Thessalonians 4:16 - For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Pretty sure Jesus hasn't returned yet so those who are dead in Christ also haven't risen. 1 Corinthians 15:51, 52 - Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 1Co 15:52 - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. Paul again mentions a trumpet but he says at the last trumpet. I'm pretty certain that the final or last trumpet hasn't blown and therefore the dead have not risen.

The reality is there are passages that talk about the dead sleeping, and a place called Sheol, as well as heaven and hell. Sheol was a literal muddy pit to bury bodies in, thus when the Israelites departed, they were said to have 'gone down to Sheol.' The Israelites also thought the dead had no consciousness. These beliefs seemed to contrast with new testament passages about going to be with the Lord immediately after death.
@toreyhorton1789
@toreyhorton1789 3 месяца назад
That's an interpretation issue, not a communication one. The Israelites with God’s spirit conveyed the truth about the dead being inactive, unconscious, and unaware of their death sleep-like state. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, Psalm 146:4, Isaiah 38:18, Psalm 6:5, Psalm 115:17) However, you're interpreting Paul’s words to suggest he is claiming that some conscious part of him leaves his body and goes to heaven. That’s likely because you chose to accept belief as true. That we have some immortal conscious being residing in our bodies. 2 Timothy 3:16 2 Peter 1:21 All the scriptures were written by Israelites and they were written under the direction of the holy spirit so we wouldn't want to imply the holy spirit misguided them in the OT. The OT is foundational and direct. You're misconstruing/misinterpreting the text in the NT if you believe they are inconsistent/incompatible/conflicting.

I have a suggestion for your channel. As much as I do enjoy the Q&A videos, I've really been hoping for more verse by verse study like you used to do. That series on Hebrews you talked about doing a while ago would be awesome. I'd much rather that than Q&A. The problem with Q&A stuff is that you don't really get to dig in to the topic and scripture at all. It's good, and your answers are always really good and helpful. I'd just really like to see a return to much more biblical depth.

I used to think (as a believer.. actually in the last 5 years) that my deceased mom was “with me”. It was the night I picked up her ashes, and I thought she “visited” me. The Lord very very clearly showed me years later (in His timing) that it was in fact not her, but something pretending to be her. The Lord has shown me that He is my comforter in grief, and at any point when I used to think it was my mom showing me she was “with me”, it was always God and God only. He told me that my mom or any loved ones would never “visit me” or send me a sign, or a song, or a butterfly… But God would. I have loved ones that feel their deceased family sends them signs and is looking over them, and I wish there was a way I could witness to them. Maybe I’ll just share this video… seems a bit passive aggressive, but that would never be my intent. ❤ Keep sharing Pastor Mike! And sorry about your mom too ❤

I never believed people could communicate with the spiritual realm until my husband died. someone he knew contacted me after the funeral and said she had messages from him if i was interested. she swore she was christian and in my desperation i listened to her. she not only told me things we did together alone but told me what i did the night before. it ABSOLUTELY freaked me out. once i read what the bible says I stopped but it confirmed there are real dark spirits what observe and speak to those that open the door.

When my dear mother died, I went through a terrible time of grief. I fully understand what you are saying and appreciate your compassion on this topic. I went to the cemetery shortly after her death and wanted to speak to her. Immediately the Lord spoke to my heart and told me I could not do that, I got the impression that it would lead to ancestor worship. He told me that she was with Him and that I was only to speak to Him and not those who had died. I felt my heart literally break and the temptation was very strong to ignore that word. But I did not. I knew it was true. From that day forward whenever I want to tell Mom something, I turn it around and say, "Father, I can't tell Mom but I can tell You", and so then I tell HIM what my news was and I know that He hears and He helps. It makes me sad to hear of so many who go on speaking to their dead loved ones without the understanding that the Lord is the One who carries us and heals us through intense grief. Thank you for tackling this important subject.
