After using an iphone 13 pro for a month, I quickly returned to android as it is just better overall. Notifications are horrendous on iOS in the way they are organized. Navigation is bad on iOS, you either use a gesture or you have to press an inconveniently placed back button somewhere in the top left corner of the screen. Apps did not feel more polished than android versions (had a few crash or have weird display quirks). And iOS just feels backwards, requiring more taps or gestures to accomplish basic stuff (like selecting multiple photos at once or quirky text selection). But the #1 most annoying issue, is the keyboard. The stock iOS keyboard is bad. Poor ergonomics, poor autocorrect, no way to have a dedicated number row, cannot type in multiple languages at once. I installed gboard and Microsoft Swiftkey and they were both better, but the stock keyboard still popped up randomly every once in a while. I'm under the impression that people who claim iphones "just work", have no idea that there are better phones out there.
Yup I bought a 13 pro max and super regret it. Idk who said the apps on apple are better but I noticed no differences really, if anything the apps on android have more functionality. IOS is just annoying to use and everything just feels like it was done to piss you off. What’s with the apps snapping to the top left? What’s with the dumb gestures? I could go on..:
@@darrensmall1133 Yeah, and iOS 16 is really buggy. I don't remember an Android version that had so many weird quirks. I tried setting a custom alarm sound in the clock app, and the thing crashed. iOS 16.1 is already out and this thing is not fixed, that just tells me that people never change a setting on their iphone 🤣
@xOyinoUS honestly I'd like AirDrop on Android and Windows, it's quite nice. iMessage & iCloud really don't add too much value to me, in Europe people use other apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook Messenger. They offer pretty much the same experience so there's no big reason to buy an iPhone just for iMessage. Same with iCloud 🤷♂️
@xOyinoUS Yeah, I know that Americans are crazy for iMessage 😂. I sort of understand, but limiting yourself to iphones just because of that still seems weird to me. Especially since there are sooo many alternatives to iMessage, some of them even have more features 🤷♂️
Being that I'm a lover of tech, I've been carrying around an Android and an iPhone for years. I currently have a Pixel 6 Pro, and an iPhone 13 Pro. It's nice having hands on experience with both operating systems. Each one has pros and cons. But they are more similar than one would expect, as well. Software wise, I'm going with Android and the Pixel experience. So much more intuitive and useful. Google Assistant is a godsend to me. Nothing comes close. 😎
Both system works well but for me, there are real differences. I daily use both iPhone and Android smartphone and what i like most with my Android is the fact i can use it like a mini laptop. I'm free.
Thank you for mentioning Play System Updates! People just have no idea about it or choose to ignore it when saying how Apple supports their devices for years. Also, Apple does update the version number, but most of the "features" aren't included for older devices or are just something Android does through Play Store app updates.
The only reason Apple has the fan base it does is iMessage. That’s it. Full stop. $1 trillion company hangs in the balance on nothing more than a simple messaging app. That’s why Apple refuses to support RCS, because they know that they lose half their user base overnight for better/cheaper/more feature rich phones.
Well said! Look at the way Europe is forcing Apple to change from Lightning to USBc for iPhone 15. Notice how the company is kicking and screaming about that! Plus, most of the iOS fanbase doesn't care about customization with 3rd party launchers, smart widgets, KWGT Widgets, etc. They take whatever's handed to them.
I'm do glad Europe, Africa and Asia are more with WhatsApp. We just want go communicate. Should i force my friend go buy an iPhone bécasse i own one ?🤨 Nope, i don’t think so.
You forget also the ecosystem, when you have a Mac or other Apple devices: you have a different experience. But if you have only an iphone: i agree Android (Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel..) is better
@@nordinne1 i dont see whats so special about the ecosystem. An app is an app. Every company has their own style. You can fully emerge yourself with Microsoft, Google, Apple, whatever.
@@ticenits1926 i understand that you don’t find it special, but for some people it is very useful. You can be an Android lover in same time IOS lover, every system has its pros and cons
They both have their pros and cons. My biggest gripe with Android is most phone makers only give a few OS upgrades while Apple supports a device for quite a bit longer. Phones are just too expensive to get 2 or 3 OS updates, and if youre locked to a carrier, forget about timely updates. Still awaiting the Android 13 update on my ATT Zfold 4. iOS gets those updates regardless.
Android is popular enough now that it shouldn’t have to depend on carriers to provide updates google should update every phone at the same time like IOS depending on carriers you can be years without the current update.
I understand the want for new updates but isn't it better to have the updates delayed and not bug filled? Your fold will get updates for the next 4 or 3 years I personally think that's long enough
You can extend support on some Android phones by installing a different OS such as LineageOS. My oneplus 3 has Android 12 through LineageOS. So in reality, some Android phones have the longest support available if you want it.
For the price of one iphone that you'll potentially keep for 5 years, you can buy two android phones every 2.5 years. Even the most basic android phones have at least 3 years of support, with Samsung offering 4 (as far as I remember). It sounds like a better deal, as you end up with a new device. Dunno, the "apple supports a device for longer" just doesn't seem as relevant as it did a few years ago.
To be fair: I'm an Apple hater. Have been so since I bought a ipod back in the day, because everyone was raving on about it. Just to come to the realisation that twice a day a pop up on my PC about updating the Apple software and the arrogant refusal of them to adopt mp3 files and only allowing their own file standard (I forgot the name, but it resulted in having tonsave two versions of all my music on my then very limited hard drive) got me hating them more and more each day. As soon as phones started to support mp3's and got headphone jacks I chucked the thing in a drawer and later threw it away. Then, when the first iPhone came out, I refused to buy it. Not long after that I was elated to see the first Galaxy come out. I got that one immediately. Ever since having long discussions with Apple fanboys about the nonsense of buying the baked air bla bla products of Apple. While realising the superiority of the Android system. A few years ago I started a new job and was delighted to see I got a ipad coming with it (not). I used it for a week and handed it back in, commenting I could do all the things on that thing on my phone far better. I own a Pixel 7 Pro now and am very satisfied how it works. Good to see this comparison being made by someone who is more neutral than I am, but confirming a lot of my views.
I definitely prefer the Android OS over iOS. After using Samsung devices for years I tried the 13 Pro Max this past year before switching back to Android with the Pixel 7 Pro. I do prefer Samsung's One UI over Google's Android 13 though. Samsung's split screen implementation is better in my opinion and although I prefer Google's vertical app drawer, I can't create folders within the app drawer like I can in One UI. And Bixby Routines is sooo underrated 😩. Samsung needs to work on the One UI animations. Using the iPhone and the Pixel made me realize how important animations are to me as far as the overall user experience.
Agreed, One UI has a lot of choppy animations that ruin the experience. I was surprised to see how unpolished they are. I too used an iphone and a Pixel 7, and they're much smoother. Surprisingly, Pixel 7 seemed better than even the iphone 🤣. Samsung needs to stop adding unnecessary features, remove the bloatware and improve animations across their UI. *Edit:* typos
I will say, One UI 5 has much better animations now. I use an S22 Plus on One UI 5 and I gotta say, it's much better than before. I'd say about 95% as smooth, but it's only like 80% as consistent, so it stutters once in a while
@@Carlos_Animations you can't "fix" animations in developer options. You can only speed them up, slow them down, or turn them off completely. That does nothing to improve the fluidity of the animations. One UI 5 took care of that.
It's probably mainly a geek/nerd thing, but the main reason why I prefer Android over iOS is the fact that the OS is open source. If I don't like the system provided by the OEM, I have the possibility to install a custom ROM
I feel like you miss one huge factor, most androids have 90-120hz displays for the non-pros. When apple only has 120hz for the pro and pro maxes from this year and last year.
I've used both systems and def prefer Android, especially the "pure" version I have on my Pixel 6a. The customization is a big part of that, especially options like Microsoft Swiftkey (which is crap on iOS) Call me a "Luddite," but I still opt for the 3 button Navigation option and I love the in screen fingerprint readers, which means with always on display that I can (once again) open my phone without having to pick it up!
@@danterikxx Couldn't agree more. The loss of the physical Home Button, drove me away from iOS after the 6s. I couldn't get on with the Home Buttons on the 7, onward either. As for all that swiping malarkey? Talk about complicating simplicity! 😉😉
I have an iPhone laying around that I mess with from time to time. The notifications on IOS are a complete mess. I wish IOS users could try the difference. Most have no idea about Android. Android isn't perfect, but notification differences are huge.
@@MennoNeher then why doesn’t Apple make a higher percentage of the revenue from data services? googles revenue stream is literally 95+ percent data collection. They are publicly traded companies. You can see exactly where their money is coming from.
@@oneheadlight8000googles revenue stream is mostly ad services since they run a majority of the ad infrastructure on the internet. Apple has lied about keeping data secure multiple times and has been proven wrong. Also remember when a text message could restart iPhones? Me too, such great security!
While I agree with just about everything in this video. The truth is that most people don't care. I have a big family. All the adults meaning people with kids use Android. All of our kids use iOS. Apple owns their minds. I see what my daughters do with their iPhone together and it's pretty cool. I think Google took too long to 1. Come out with their own phone and 2. Really force OEM's to be more cohesive. Facetime is really great. Google meet is nice but not seamless. iMessage is amazing, we are just starting to catch up with our messages. I am the official photographer because they freely admit my P7P takes better pics than their iPhone, but they don't care.I just don't see how Google/ Android can ever win them over.
Got a new work phone this year so got an iPhone 12 this time around to give iOS a real try. I said for years once they implement an AoD I'll move to iPhone. But after a few months with the 12, I'll stick with Android for numerous reasons.
Used iphone for ten years but I had enough of Apple's greedy practices. Always holding back features that older iPhones can easily support but keeping them only for the new iPhone. Android for the win. At least Google trickles new features to older pixels within the same year
I'm always going between the two OSes and find it's always Android I miss the most. The Pixel 7 pro is the phone I've been waiting for! Great comparison. Most Apple users have no idea, sadly. Is that a Leeds accent? My stamping ground! 😍
I find the battery of my P7P kinda poor for its massive 5000mAh battery. I'll get 6h SoT and 16h Standby easily from 80% to 20% (for battery health) but comparing that to my 4 years old and heavily used Huawei which still beats the Pixel in background drain... that's just embarrassing. It's still good and an all day battery life but not as good as I think Google could make it
I recently had the opportunity to decide between ios and Android and i just couldn't live without the open source apps that i use, simply no option of that in ios. Went with pixel 7, love it!
I kind of can't believe we're still having this discussion in 2023. I've had an android phone since the OG Motorola Droid back in like 2009. The war between Android and Apple was really hot back then. But I'm hearing a lot of the same sentiments here. 🤔
I don't understand what they mean when they say that iOS notifications will persist unless you manually remove them. This isn't true. There are many apps that will remove notifications when the notification is no longer relevant. If an app DOESN'T do this, then it's the apps fault, not the OS.
I feel like the 'Android Vs iOS' debate has raged in an endless loop for a decade and always goes back to the same points. Customisation - Android wins Value for money - Android wins End to end ecosystem - Apple wins (Mac, iPad, iwatch and iPhone as a collective are unrivalled) App store - Apple wins Simplicity - Apple wins Variety - Android wins New features - Android wins I think Google Is catching Apple fast though with the Pixel line up. The Pixel 7 series is the cleanest android experience out there and even most Apple users would find it an easy transition. The overall pixel ecosystem is catching up quickly with Apple but they still need a killer laptop and tablet to really be on par with Apple. My guess is that Google Pixel will eventually be the biggest player in the android market and shortly after start winning share rapidly from Apples existing user base unless they find a way to become more innovative.
No pause / resume recording button on iOS when taking video is a dealbreaker. I tried an iPhone and I could not accept the preposterous notion that users “don’t need it”. If I want to record myself cooking dinner on an iPhone, I have to record the entire process in one long clip, or take loads of short clips and edit them together later. Unacceptable despite the great camera.
Android these days feels faster than iOS. Take a Pixel 3 vs an iPhone 8 Plus. On Paper the iPhone 8 Plus is faster, but in day to day use the Pixel 3 wins by a mile. iOS these days is super bloated.
The reasons I would choose an Android phone over an iPhone every day is because 1 more selection from brands like Samsung, Google Pixel or even no name brands for Amazon. 2 works well with Google's own laptop based offering system Chrome OS. 3 specialty features like Samsung dex Or The pixels car crash detection.
I made the switch from Apple to Windows phone in 2012. I wanted to believe they could put out a good phone but Microsoft simply dropped the BALL. Officially switched to Android with a Galaxy S S8. Then to an Essential Phone which gave me a TRUE Google based experience which I absolutely loved. It's a shame they couldn't release a better follow up. My first google phone was a Pixel 3XL which I dug but found it a little to big, so when I traded that in for the 4A, I felt like this was the ideal handset. After trading my 6 in for the 7. I feel like they've finally got it right, minus a few software integrations with social media which I hope is cleared up in the next few years. I was open to switching back to Apple but really.. what's the point? Cheers!
I'm and Android user switching to iPhone within the next year due to the advantages it has for me in terms of its ecosystem as everything is interconnected so if my iPad dies I can just pick up off my phone. I am currently in college and my area I'm training in is prominently an area that uses apple products due to there ecosystem so it is clear to me that I will need an iPad so I might as well get an iPhone knowing that I will have the piece of mind that I have one as a backup
I had a Samsung S7 edge for 6 years - now that's a well made device! Because there were so many stories about malware in the Google play store, I purchased an iPhone 13 pro max when it died. What a mistake! That was the best of the iPhone in August 2022 and it couldn't do things that my year old Samsung did. It could not take a picture by saying "cheese" or anything else for that matter. It did not have a "back" button or a "close all applications" button. I hold my phone at the bottom of the screen and having to always reach up to the upper left corner to go back was just not ergonomic. Having to swipe up and away to close all the apps was ridiculous, I looked like I was swatting flies. Then the fact that the stupid iPhone would reopen closed apps was completely ridiculous and drained my security camera. Another massive disappointment was that I couldn't plug the darn thing into my computer and drag and drop my music. Why? Because Apple wants you to pay monthly for Apple music. I own my music and want it on my device without monthly fees. I realized quickly that iPhone is a granny phone meant to dumb it down and give everyone a deflated experience. The iPhone 13 pro max to me was a lifeless brick. It had a beautiful screen and good battery life, but those are the only 2 positives. I traded the piece of crap in for a Samsung S22 Ultra and was instantly on cloud 9 to have a great phone once again. Don't fall for the iPhone fantasy that Jobs created years ago, its just a lot of BS.
Agreed, I will NEVER EVER enter Crapple's ecosystem. I do check on them of what's new that Crapple does have, but that doesn't mean that I Like Crapple, I still don't like it. I enjoy Android more than IOS
As iOS user for 10 years, I'm really glad that I made the switch - by getting the S23 Ultra. No hate against Apple though, it's just that the experience has changed a whole lot better ever since I left from the Touchwiz era. One UI is so much better, and it does make my job easier compared to the years when I was strictly iPhones only.
Variety is the spice of life, they say, so I'm a fan of Android. That said, the things I really like about iOS are its tight integration of hardware and software within its ecosystem, Apple Maps is especially very good and Apple Pay is much more consistent than anything Google or Samsung has ever put out.
Love both my Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 pro max. Even wearing a pixel watch on left wrist and an apple watch series 7 on my right. Both are really great in their own ways. Biggest plus and indisputable for the pixel remains the price differential to the Pro/Pro Max iPhones.
modded apps will always be number 1 over why i choose android over ios...i cant live without a modded instagram/whatsapp/twitter and tiktoc...the bland boring apple store apps i find to be unusable and not tailored to a power user experience....second is customization,as simple as setting a ringtone and notification tone on ios is a pain and its so simple on android to be able to customize multiple profiles with different sounds for your applications
Loved this Damien! I absolutely agree with all your notes! (Proud Pixel 4 owner…) Would I allow anyone in my family to run anything on Android? Absolutely no way!
I recently upgraded to a Pixel 7 from a Pixel 3a/iPhone 8 combo. I chose the Pixel 7 over the iPhone 14 as 1) It was wayyyy cheaper. The Pixel was $999 AUD and the iPhone 14 is $1399. I couldn't justify the price difference especially when the only flagship feature, I care about is a great main camera. 2) Even though I don't customise my phone, the inbuilt theming is really nice, and I still have the option for more customizing in the future. 3) USB-C, adding yet another cable to carry is a pain in the arse. 4) Apple's aggressive upselling tactics. There's really no reason why the regular iPhone 14/13/12 couldn't have had the basic version of the AOD. Ridiculous that a feature that's been on Android forever is limited to the most expensive model on Apple. 5) Apple torpedoing their own major advantages by putting in ads. If you pay a premium price, you better get a premium service. That's really no longer the case with Apple anymore and they're now trying to double dip with both expensive hardware and ads. 6) I use Windows and IOS devices really don't play well with Windows PC's. Android is much easier to deal with. Some of the pluses for the iPhone was that 1) Apple Maps is surprisingly good in my city. 2) Magsafe is very cool. 3) Much better market for accessories. 4) Airtags are neat (own a bike and it's unnerving how easy it is to steal them) 5) The iPhone 13 mini was very enticing, NGL.
No. Try any Android flagship.. is way better optimalized and faster than iphone.. i downgraded from Oneplus 8 pro to ip 14 pro max, ans 8 pro was faster are more fluid even after 3 years!! So i decided to upgrade to the best i can buy for money, S2w Ultra.. that phone is extremly fluid and fast..
i used to think that, though not the case anymore..androids have a bigger learning curve, but it gives you alot more basic functionality, ios is more simple.
Well, I don’t think I think it is according to what person you were talking about that would mean that they care about these features, because they may not only use iPhone but they also use android phone. Then they would know that it may be that it sucks because they can do those things on the other phone, but they cannot do it on iPhone.
As an Apple user i agree on some but not all. Siri integration and better notifications would be a good addition. I would also like a font style system change (obvs it’s never gonna happen).
I used to think the same. Years of using android and dealing with it's problems here and there. Forced in to a iphone at work. Forced me to look at how iOS handled apps vs android and what I found was android apps crashed far more often than iOS. So I abandoned android for what experience showed me was a more stable platform. Now Apple is trying to force this country in to a esim/CDMA world that I don't agree with, so I'm looking at android again. Is android still free enough and open enough to be a viable option. Android was rife with corrupted software for a long time. Delt with countless factory resets because corrupted software getting in to the play Store. Never had that happen in the iOS app store. It's hard to decide. But I know, as much as I like iOS. If Apple continues down their current road. When the iphone 13 is no longer usable. I will no longer be using iphones.
Android is just better: factual reason and no non sense reasons with ecosystem thing like you have to buy all Apple products to enjoy Apple Experience. 1) Same Back Gesture on every app ✅ 2) Unlocking my phone without an extra swipe ✅ 3) Moving icons on my homescreen wherever i want, top, bottom, left, right with empty space or not✅ 4) Fingerprint scanner ✅ 5) Pro Camera Mode without buying an app ✅ 6) Native Keyboard with numbers row key on top✅ 7) Multitasking with Split Screen ✅ 8) Easy Link to Windows laptop whatever the brand✅ 9) Data transfer with Usb-C ✅ 10) Customization ✅
I went from the Pixel 5a to the iPhone 13. Boy, do I regret it. I cannot wait until I'm paid off on this iPhone to go back to Android. iOS is such a shit Operating System... my goodness.
Been using #android and #iOS Operation System for more than a decade My daily driver for almost 2 years is my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and a iPhone 12 Pro Max Overall my Galaxy is more intuitive than my iPhone and in terms of productivity more versatile. The same thing happen with my nVIDIA SHIELD TV PRO and my Apple tv 4K android tv is more handy than tvOS.
gusy .. ANYONE .. i dont like BT earbuds n shizz .. i prefer the 3.5mm ..but if i get the pixel 6a i cant use that, now .. with an adapter, usbc to 3.5 , will it work? my real Q is . does that work with ALL phones without the 3.5mm and with any type of usbc to 3.5 adapter?
I prefer my AT&T landline. No apps to worry about. No camera to take a million pictures that I won't view again. Never needs to be charged. No constant upgrades. I've had the same handsets for 23 years. It just works.
Most people that are apple fans are because of the entire eco system. Where apple doesn't play well with others. But as a stand alone device, Android and specifically the pixel series is epic. The new 7pro is a serious step above the 6pro. The 7pro refines the 6, heavily
I'm an iPhone guy but I do like Android phones I just prefer iOS. The thing that keeps me coming back is how smooth and polished the OS is compared to Android and I've tried to switch to the S22 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro this year. The thing I realized was that the extra features Android has is cool but where do we spend most of our time on our phone? APPS. We use the apps on our phones more than anything else and the quality of iOS apps is completely unmatched. That is one of my absolute biggest gripes with the Android phones I tried. I also really like the Apple Ecosystem but I was willing to differentiate for the right phone but so far it hasn't been good enough to switch. Maybe the S23 ultra this year will do it.
I did exactly the same in 2022, but I’m back with an iPhone 13Pro, mainly because, as you say, the quality of the Apps. I can never find the Android apps that give me the same experience as I get on iOS. Even where there are equivalents, the iOS version always seems better than the Andrid version.
Another thing I noticed on iOS is there's less ads on RU-vid. In the video he didn't mention Google apps can be put directly on the LockScreen in iOS 16.2
I wonder if there is a dedicated gesture on ios that lets you go back to previous page like Android back button does. I see some ios apps have inconsistent back button locations which throws me off time to time.
Apple is undisputed 👑 in general app experience, software support And (allegedly) privacy While Android is 👑 in features and flexibility Hopefully one day they will steal enough from each other and we'll have the best of both worlds!
Apple is just a greedy mega corporation and people blindly support this evil monopoly. Apple doesn't invent anything just copy other companies and call that an innovation and in the same name of innovation and premium brand value they charge for everything from your ringtone to your 256-512 GB storage upgrade or their premium accessories that literally cost as much as other brands full-fledged devices (Apple Magic Keyboard for example). I honestly have no idea why consumers and developers support and deal with no matter what crap Apple throws at the table. I used to be an iPhone and Mac user but now fully switched to Microsoft-Samsung ecosystem which is not only cheaper but more value for money. Especially frustrating for me was Apple removing apps from App Store or region blocking them and there's no way to bypass App Store. And what apps are they blocking? Dictionary apps by Mobi Systems for example, and similar apps (like Armchair Historian) that has got no f**king reason to be blocked by countries (Google Play India has those). I just hate Apple, purely hate the giant worm-eaten fruit company.
I carry an iPhone and a Pixel daily - the iPhone is the more reliable device. iOS > Android. You have a more polished software experience on iOS (this is undisputed as Android is so fragmented). You also can't beat the Apple ecosystem (especially in the US). Everyone I know has iMessage, I have several AirTags, and depend on the iPhone to use and pay for my Apple Card. I experience what I call the "beta" experience from the Pixel. For example, I have to change APN settings, and constantly switch between Airplane mode, to get my Wireguard VPN to connect on Android. On iOS, it works 100% of the time. Not to mention that Chrome on Android is an AD magnet! No extensions whatsoever. The cleanest browser I have found is Vivaldi. Surprisingly, Safari supports extensions, and they work flawlessly. Apple is closing the gap (switching to USBC and opening the marketplace) and it'll be difficult to justify Android. Google needs to get aggressive with their Pixel expansion.
@@MarshallClicksPhotography No, he is comparing with Samsung/Google Pixel hardware so it is not just about Android vs iOS as that would represent specifically what Android or iOS as an OS offer. That does not represent the charging speeds or cost of the phones.
Android application optimization sucks. Currently using ip14 pro and flip 4 it’s quite annoying that most of the applications I need are getting errors on android and most of the time it is being forced closed.
@@MarshallClicksPhotography If only this device is available in our country. Sadly, it doesn't and 5g is not compatible, No service center and only few offers repair service if something happens to your Pixel.
I don’t think so android is superior at all because android is always in a hurry to introduce new features without testing and refining them which results into app crashes and bugs. Android then takes 2 to 3 years to refine that bunch of features to work finely , still after couldn’t get the refinement. Compared with ios - ios takes its time to release that one feature android released years ago with proper optimisation and refinement 🥶. Therefore i would say android is not superior to ios , they are neck to neck , but if we talk about a particular android brand like samsung then i can say android is superior , samsung’s high end phones are way more versaltile and fun to use than iphones and also provide best software experience with minor or unnoticeable jitter and lags , in this sense , android is superior otherwise not
I agree with a lot of this. However, FaceID on iOS is far superior to fingerprint scanners. I use both and really love my Pixel, but FaceID is just untouchable. It never fails for any reason in any situation and is super fast.
