He never claimed to be a cook. He is on MC as a taster . Normally critics are not cooks themselves . Yes, he should be on Masterchef - he is great in that role ! In some other Masterchefs around the world, they do not even choose a critic in his role - they choose a pretty face . There is a reason for using both cooks and us "normals" as testers . I don`t like only professionals to tell us what is good , like in the US or Canadian MC - they tend to be too full of themselves and what they know about food , making their shows more about them than the contestants .
I met him once, he came into a restaurant I was working in. He moaned that he had seen me use my inhaler and he didn't understand why "my kind" didn't just stay in the house. He also later complained again about my coworkers epipen sticking out their back pocket. Edit: I was 17 but i really wish I had said something to him. I had the massive misfortune to be one of his customers when he was a fruit and veg man. His produce was terrible and his attitude was worse. Always delivered late and without leaving myself open to a law suit, he was known as being a very sharp operator. He is rude and has a sky high opinion of himself. He knows nothing about food and never has.
A colleague of mine met him once at an appearance at some kind of trade show (might have been ideal home show or something). My friend and his 7 year old son approached him to say hello and that they enjoyed his TV programs, Greg then proceeded to give him a public dressing down for letting his son watch his TV programs as they were “on TV too late for to be watching”.
"Inside The Factory" is a terrible programme. What could be a really informative show is actually Wallace listening to a factory worker and then patronisingly repeating back to them a four-year-old's version, like we didn't understand what he'd just been told. It should be on CBeebies instead. Wallace: "It's warm in here. Do you heat this warehouse?" Manager: "No we don't need to at all. These beans that have come in here today, they're still warm from the factory. So actually, all the heat from the product is heating the warehouse here." Wallace: "No way! The heat I can feel, because it's markedly warmer than out there, is just the heat from the cooked beans?"
Spot on. The Barbour wax jacket factory episode would have been really interesting to me as I have one, but it was just unwatchable with this dick saying Woooo, Waaaay, and generally acting like a sun reader. potentially good program with a shit presenter. happens a lot.

He did The Factory at Heinz in Wigan. I know a few people who work there and said he was a complete tool. Going on about him being middle class and was disrespectful about the staff. He's from a council estate in London ffs.
This is why I ditched the BBC years ago and did away with the TV Licence. Yes, you can too, just don't watch live TV of any kind nor BBC iPlayer. Done.

ITV did a series of him touring Africa on safari, playing with big cats, giving his "insight" about the countries. Easily the biggest example of him being unqualified for a programme It's not just a BBC problem
It's so funny, I came across this video as I never knew there was a large amount of people who dislike him. I've not been able to stand him for ages and would always turn off any show he was on. In the Factory.. 😑 lord, give me strength!
His behaviour on Strictly was pretty awful. Aliona Vilani had already had two years of being messed around and treated with contempt by the Strictly producers, when in 2014 she was paired with Gregg Wallace. On the day of their first performance, he told the press he'd rather be dancing with Karen Hauer. Then on the day they were due to appear together on It Takes Two on the Monday after his elimination in week 2, he again slagged her off in the media, describing her as cold and distant. I'm not bloody surprised! Despite this, she still had the good grace to make supportive comments about him on ITT. He also reportedly spent much of his time on the show making infantile jokes and generally pratting around rather than actually knuckle down in training and learn how to dance.
After years of enjoying food without worrying about food allergies, i suddenly had an allergic reaction after eating a prawn salad. My face blew up, got hot and itched....i took an anti histamine and it went away, but i've been warned the next one could be serious....or it might never happen again, take your pick. So food allergies arent something to be cavalier about. I did not know though, that you should call a restaurant in advance about it.
I eat food every day so figure I'm as qualified as the potato seller to judge food. He was described as a master grocer, in essence this meant he owned his own barrow and may have had others working for him, not that he is particularly knowledgeable about the products he sells. I do find it disgraceful that proper chefs are criticised by him on MasterChef - The Professionals as if he understands anything about food preparation. One supposes he is there to provide the deciding vote if Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti disagree. The concept of the show is pretty poor, the contestants are given specific time sections to prepare the dishes and are pressured to cook to time. I doubt if I was eating at Marcus (Wareing's) or Mere (Galetti's) they would be that bothered by how long they kept their clients waiting, arguing good food takes time to prepare. The presence of Wallace highlights the BBC's penchant for using individuals in roles they are not qualified to do...Ainsley Harriet was a children's entertainer but is now a celebrity chef...go figure
None of the reasons you give are why I dislike him. Honestly, he just makes my skin crawl. Glad to hear he will no longer be presenting 'Inside the Factory '. Now I can watch it. How he has become so popular bamboozles me no end.
This is the end of celeb culture. People who care about the actual problems in Britain today are viewed as "disrespectful" weirdos, while people who care about bald bloke off the telly number 3 get airtime, and are pandered to.
Can't say l hate the bloke , don't really read about his private life. Demanding exclusive use of a pool l'd advise spending some of his salary on a pool. He's a bloke who likes food so his place on MasterChef is stupid. I don't like it when he states the obvious to another chef like Monica. The onions are cut small to cook quicker and she has to confirm it. I really get pissed off on the factory show he makes a mess and insist these are his chocolate bars, beds or whatever. His contribution greeting a lorry with flour or something, and pressing a button which he does with glee.
I did not know the man who shouts for no reason whatsoever was hated by millions. Then again, I mainly grew up watching caricatures on Horrible Histories & Harry Hill’s Tea Time, so I’m not surprised to feel unaware.
I think everyone should cut him some slack…. Having worked with with victims of sexual abuse for the last 20yrs - I can tell you, it’s a bloody miracle if these people turn out to be anything vaguely resembling a normal person… So go easy of Gregg.
I hate Gregg Wallace, the best comment I read was someone saying they had just wached two episodes of Masterchef and enjoyed them,why because Gregg Wallace wasn't in them.

I agree with one point he made if you are going to a restaurant it is just a courtesy to call before you arrive to tell them you have allergies so their is no misunderstandings
I can’t believe this guy just openly admits in an article that he didn’t want another baby at his age, but only did so to make his wife happy. Poor baby, I hope he is well taken care of because his father sounds bitter and ungrateful.
What is it about the choices made for male presenters on television? To me it appears they select only from men with really disgusting even abusive habits Surely the record should provide plenty of warning about what is coming? But no! Time and again, long after it has become obvious to all except the management, that something criminal is on the way, and finally a well loved figure is dropped and subsequently vilified in gruesome detail. Whereas a little supervision would allow for a less dramatic 'fall' could be arranged and such ghastly drama queens could be disposed of with much less anguish. Unless, of course, that is what is actually required!

WRT to Wallace not being a chef. Every series of Masterchef features an episode judged by food critics and journalists, like Jay Rayner, Grace Dent, William Sitwell etc. They're not chefs either. You don't have to be a chef to judge Masterchef. You simply need to be knowledgeable about restaurant food..... just like Jeremy Clarkson has never built a car yet people respect his car reviews.
If you want a good laugh at the slaphead josser, then do a search for 'VIZ Comic Greg Wallace Punch-up Lunch'. In 2013, he beat up some bloke in a restaurant that he accused of 'looking at his girlfriend funny'. The twat has a very short fuse, it seems.

He just seems like a dick to me. Also I don't like him being a judge on Masterchef the professionals. Once you get the latter stages of the show all the chefs left know more about food than him. Him shouldn't be judging them
Everyone who eats in restaurants is qualified to pass judgement on chefs. I assume Gregg Wallace eats in reastaurants. Every single person who complains about him not being qualified because he isn't a chef does exactly the same thing every time they eat out. Why do those people think THEY are entitled to an opinion but he is not?
Can I say I Like Greg Wallace, it’s too easy to throw rumours about as if they are facts. BTW eating biscuits is a choice, nothing got to do with God or rights.
